Pence to address Iowa Republicans on eve of Obama visit

Rep. Mike Pence will address an anti-health care reform rally in Iowa.
Rep. Mike Pence will address an anti-health care reform rally in Iowa.

(CNN) – Here's the latest sign Rep. Mike Pence is mulling a possible presidential run in 2012: the Indiana Republican will address an anti-health care reform rally in Iowa City Wednesday night. Pence will be beamed into the event, put on by the Iowa Republican Party, via Skype.

Iowa City, of course, is where President Obama will visit on Thursday to promote the health care bill he signed into law this week.

The "Stand Up for Freedom Rally" will take place at the University of Iowa.

"I'm proud to have Congressman Pence standing with Iowans tonight and standing up against the continued assault on our personal and economic freedoms from the Obama administration and Iowa's congressional Democrats," Iowa GOP chairman Matt Strawn said in a statement.

Pence has already made political stops in Iowa, traditionally home to the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses. He's also visited the early primary states of New Hampshire and South Carolina.

And Pence also announced that the title of his partisan screed – I mean "speech" – is...

    "Hell No We Can't – We're Republicans!"

Pence is such a loser and a cry-baby. Why can't he be more like Gov. Tim Pawlenty and start putting country before party? He is one of the reasons why people hate the Republican party so much and why the party is in its last throes of death. I would never vote for this guy in a million years. I can't wait to see him voted out of office next election.

I can't believe how freakin' stupid people are! Don't they see how the Republicans are using them?

The Republicans don't give a rat's fanny about the average American; they don't want health care reform because they rely on all the contributions from the health care insurance companies.

Remember that February 18, 2010 GOP finance director's presentation that was found left behind in a hotel room? The one that said the Republican election strategy would be based on fear? They call it "visceral giving" – meaning playing off your emotions – they don't want you to think.

The presentation also talked about how “ego-driven” wealthy donors can be tapped with offers of access and “tchochkes.”

Don't believe me? Search the Internet for "GOP presentation donors" and you'll get a link to the actual document.

This is how the Republicans think about and treat their wealthy donors; can you imagine what they think of average Americans?!?

Walk up and smell the coffee, folks – and quick letting yourselves be used by the GOP!

Maybe he should speak for everyone and not just the elite few that line his pockets with money.

If rep Pence is serious about a bid for the presidency in 2012, may I suggest that he spend s good deal of his preparation time in working on his attitude. He comes across on screen as arrogant, intolerant, unyielding, stiff, cold and very self indulgent to name a few. Most office seekers over do the likeability factor, but this man is in desperate need.

"Iowa City, of course, is where President Obama will visit on Thursday to promote the health care bill he signed into law this week."

If this health care is so great why is Obama still spending the taxpayers money flying around, and leaving his carbon footprint, trying to convince us? ANSWER: Because this health care is not good for this country and it's all about control....the control the Democrats hope to keep, which of course we all know they won't come 2010 and 2012.

Mike Pense was one of the biggest liars during the whole health care debate, and now he and his party are now running on a campaign of repealing the landmark Health care act of 2010 . All I have to say is good luck running on a platform of regression.

The "Stand Up for Freedom Rally" will take place at the University of Iowa.

I agree that we must stand up for our freedoms as well:

Freedom for women to make their own choice about abortion...

Freedom for people to marry any PERSON that they want...

Freedom to not be SCARED into voting for a Republican...

The Republicans need to start leading by example and not by scaring the seniors and the people into a new civil war! Now they have kicked obstruction into new levels of absurdity!! Looks like the "waterloo" backfired!! Now you have nothing to show for the last year except blaming others for your mess and kicking and screaming like my 1 year old. Is this what you want to teach future generations.. just kick and scream until you get what you want??!! STOP acting like the sky is falling and help the citizens of this great country!

Oh, please, please, please run, Mr. Pence. I can't imagine anyone who could represent the fecklessness and the sloganeering that passes for policy in the Republican party more than you do. Please run, and don't forget your 5" binder full of "facts" that your followers will be too lazy to read for themselves.

I am not so much worried about the mythological Democratic assault on my freedom as I am the assault on my economic situation that seems to happen every time the Republicans gain the presidency or a majority in congress.

Iowa is the State that started President Obama on his course to victory. Pence and his cohorts need to get a grip on reality and either help with solutions or just shut up. They have nothing to offer this country except name calling and proven failures of governing. Go Away!

This guy is my congressman. I've been to a number of his town hall meetings. He's an empty suit compared to Obama. I asked him a number of questions on energy during the gas crisis that he just couldn't answer, i.e. was he aware that the largest builder of offshore drilling rigs is on the record stating there is a world wide shortage of the rigs and it would continue for at least another 5 years. He was clueless. Was he aware that both Clinton and Bush 1 released oil from the petroleum reserves to control pressure on prices. Clueless.
This guy is full of sound bites but when comes down to substance, it's just not to be found. Good example was Obama handing his hat during the Health Care Summit.
He's risen to power due to the party drifting to the extreme right.

OK, vote against children being denied health care due to pre-existing conditions. Vote against 19-26 year olds being able to stay on their parents insurance. Vote against closing the donut hole for seniors. Vote against free coverage for preventive care & cheaper medicine for seniors and average adults.Vote against stopping the insurance company for putting a cap on premiums or denying coverage if you change jobs or become ill. The Repubs voted against civil rights legislation. The party of "NO" will now get to state what they stand for and offer a healthcare alternative. Right? Right??

Obama won't tell anything truthful, anyway, so his speech is of little interest.

"Its going to be an interesting day" LOL..Yes Sir it sure was!

Mr. Pence..I see you really have no idea what is going on, and you have no "secret, interesting weapon" to use to stop anything!

All you know is that , you are suppose to keep saying No, No, No...NO matter what!

You just keep on doing that Mr. Pence, and while your at it please do not look down, or you will notice you are sinking into a huge pile of Bull Crap! If ever we needed a "Tea Partry Cadidate" it was during the Bush years, dont you find your "conservative" halo, just a tad tarnished, if not YOU SHOULD!

You're so oppressed you decide to have a rally for freedom? Freedom from what? 9 years of "war to nowhere" started by cheney's puppet? the economic melt down caused by the w administration's policies? C'mon, get on with yourselves. You lost in 2008. It's 2010, starting contributing or step aside. This is why repubs are going to end up like Kansas in the second round, UPSET-2010.

Hey Mikey, know this- while you're standing for the freedom of insurance companies to deny me coverage, I will be standing up for my own freedom to have access to medical care. And I will be standing up for that freedom at the ballot box. See you in 2012, Mikey.
