People: Palin, Discovery reach deal for TV show

Sarah Palin has inked a television deal, People Magazine reports.
Sarah Palin has inked a television deal, People Magazine reports.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is branching out beyond politics, striking a deal with the Discovery Channel for a program spotlighting her home state of Alaska, People Magazine reports.

According to People, a source with the cable network says the former Alaska governor and Discovery have finally struck a deal after weeks of negotiations that involved several networks. A source told CNN earlier this month that Palin had been pitching a show that would be a "Planet Earth-style" documentary about Alaska.

The Palin source also told CNN of the proposed show: "It's not going to be focused on her family, or in her house, or in Wasilla."

Variety reported Tuesday the show is expected to be called "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and the former Republican vice presidential nominee will likely nab $1 million an episode.

Representatives of the Discovery Channel would not confirm the reports to CNN.

All the American people have the right to be as stupid as they wish. No one can interfere with their right to be STUPID.

I imagaine whichever sponsers are willing to endorse this program for the Discovery Channel will be getting an earful. I bid them all good luck.

How appropriate that the ex governor who callously left her consituents in the dust should be profitting a million dollars for her actions.

Nothing this woman does ever surprises me.

Sarah Palin is a nobody! She isn't even from Alaska! Are you kidding me??? Why would anyone give her a show that is called Sarah Palin's Alaska? What a slap in the face to Alaskans. I'm a 3rd genereation Alaskan and I have more ties here then she will ever have! She needs to just crawl back into her little hobokin house in Wasilla and stay there! She couldn't hack it as Governor why should she get her own show??? What a joke...

She should spotlight foreign countries as well since she has significant foreign policy experience with Russia jets flying over Alaska and all.

Plus, she thinks Africa is a country, so they could cover the whole continent as a country in one episode.

    You betcha!

She's going to show them all the wonderful places to build oil pipelines while shooting wolves from a helicopter and explaining that there is no such thing as evolution.

Seriously Discovery ... you want Sarah Palin?!?!

If she narrates like she speaks, it will be a jumbled nightmare for viewers. I can't wait to see where the Eskimo hunted dinosaurs.

Thank you so much, Discovery Channel, for making Alaska something I no longer wish to see on television.

Hmmm... Thanks for reminding me to watch this.

I assume Sarah Palin's Alaska includes the saga of corrupt and unethical government officials, the plight of unwed mothers, how to get the taxpayers to put a tanning bed in your basement, and how to get a free wardrobe for yourself and free plane tickets for your kids.

"Planet Earth-style documentary"? Are you sure you didn't mean "Scorched Earth-style documentary"? After all, you are talking about Sarah Palin.

Everything the woman touches turns to gold. I hope the same thing happens in November.

Sarah Palin is out creating jobs in the private sector and our CIC is out destroying jobs in the private sector.

    Go figure!

  22. Really

I am an avid discovery channel fan. However, I will not watch this. Alaska does not belong to SP and she tarnishes its beauty. Please Discovery channel, reconsider the deal.
