People: Palin, Discovery reach deal for TV show

Sarah Palin has inked a television deal, People Magazine reports.
Sarah Palin has inked a television deal, People Magazine reports.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is branching out beyond politics, striking a deal with the Discovery Channel for a program spotlighting her home state of Alaska, People Magazine reports.

According to People, a source with the cable network says the former Alaska governor and Discovery have finally struck a deal after weeks of negotiations that involved several networks. A source told CNN earlier this month that Palin had been pitching a show that would be a "Planet Earth-style" documentary about Alaska.

The Palin source also told CNN of the proposed show: "It's not going to be focused on her family, or in her house, or in Wasilla."

Variety reported Tuesday the show is expected to be called "Sarah Palin's Alaska" and the former Republican vice presidential nominee will likely nab $1 million an episode.

Representatives of the Discovery Channel would not confirm the reports to CNN.

Funny how everyone on the Right always loses their heads whenever anyone mentions a liberal television personality in the same breath as "running for office" (such as Ed Schulz and recently, this week, Rachel Maddow - both of which clarified they are NOT running for office despite the straw man attack from the Right), while at the same time Ms. Palin has shows on TWO networks and they still consider her their top choice for 2012. Hypocrisy, they name is Republican.

Where is our Homeland Security in reguards to Palins latest rederic on her Facebook page. She tells her followers to reload and set their crosshairs on the Democrat Congressman and woman. Some followers have taken her advice and have committed terrorist crimes. She should be arrested and have her computer converscated

I'm sure the show will show how beautiful it is in Alaska, but if Palin is involved in any way (voiceover, appearance, etc.) it will ruin the effect with a reminder of the bitter partisan divide in our political system.

I can just imagine a shot of a pack of wolves hunting with Palin's voiceover description that "the wolves overtake their prey like an inexorable death panel."

She didn't quite make the cut for "Dancing with the Stars" or "The Celeberity Apprentice."

A million dollars an episode.. Well it just goes to show that anyone of barely mediocre intelligence and good looks can make it...

She certainly isn't worth that much, because Alaska is Alaska with or without her...

I'm from idaho... anyone want to pay me some big bucks to make a series about it? It's a pretty great state......

And she and I went to the same college in Coeur d' Alene....

What a waste of money and time for the Discovery Channel! This gal knows nothing at all about nature, history, or the rugged outdoors. She is no native to Alaska or the Americas!!!

By inking a deal with Palin the Discovery Channel an just about kiss goodbye to 80% of the audience that would watch a Discovery Channel show or give Sarah Palin a single moment of their time. She would have been far wiser to have explored hooking up to the Jerry Springer Show. This goes in that 'What 'an earth' were they thinking ?' column !

Dear Discovery Channel, How can you give a deal to Sarah Palin- she thinks the Flintstones is a documentory. She is basically anti-science,
a climate change denier, and anti-anything that requires "thinking." If you go through with this, I for one, will program your chanell out of my TV remote.

No it probably won't be focused on her family but will it be focused on guns and targets. Her website says a lot about the kind of person she is by targeting the Democrats that voted for health care. The likes of her is causing all this vendictive behavior. Levi was correct when he stated that she is out for money.

Did Failin Palin finally find her way home? I can just see some of the episodes now: wolf hunting from a helicopter; whether you can see Russia if you stand closer to the edge of the cliff or not; etc.

Sounds like this will be a new type of show: mockumentary. Discovery Channel – you have made a HUGE mistake. Palin couldn't even come up with something more original than a "Planet Earth-style" of show to pitch.

Wonder if her next project will be to read her first book?

I am SO DISAPPOINTED in the Discovery Channel. How could they put this woman on the air? Her irresponsible rhetoric is pulling this country apart. I can truthfully say that this is one program that will NEVER grace my television set.

Welcome to new Discovery Channel. Now Sarah Palin is gong to appear in documentaries to prove that:

    1. There is no global warmining and it is just the liberal propoganda headed by Al Gore.

    2. Screwing Alaskan Wild Life for oil would be the most beautiful thing that can happen to Alaska.

    3. Last, but not the least, you can see Russia from there.

I am going to unsubscribe the Discovery Channel now.

$1 Million an episode!?!?!?! Are you kidding me? For a Discovery Channel documentary type show on Alaska? She criticized Barack when he was running calling him a celebrity comparing him to Brittney Spears.

WHO IS THE CELEBRITY NOW?!!?!? WHAT A HYPOCRITE!!!

First off she is not "former Governor Palin". That title is reserved for governors who have finished their term of office after serving as governor. Sarah choose not to finish her term, she is Ex-governor Palin.

Next off I'd love to see Sarah Moose hunting from a helicopter on Discovery.
