News Release
Richmond Police Investigate Cantor Building Vandalism
March 25, 2010
The Richmond Police Department is investigating an act of vandalism at the Reagan Building, 25 E. Main St., Richmond, Virginia. A first floor window was struck by a bullet at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23. The building, which has several tenants including an office used by Congressman Eric Cantor, was unoccupied at the time.
A Richmond Police detective was assigned to the case. A preliminary investigation shows that a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window. The round struck with enough force to break the windowpane but did not penetrate the window blinds. There was no other damage to the room, which is used occasionally for meetings by the congressman.
The Richmond Police Department is sharing information about the incident with appropriate law enforcement agencies.
At this time there are no suspects.

Cantor like all other Republicans are the ones that are Fueling the Fames of Hate and Anger......they are creating Home Grown Terrorists. He is Fueling the Flames as we speak, no one shot at his office, someone shot in the air and it landed in his office......if he has been getting so many threats why haven't we heard about them before all this......this scum bag probably had someone shoot the bullet to try to turn the HATE ACT back on the Democrats.......Republicans you reap what you sow, and what goes around comes around......you all are getting so desperate that you can't even function in your jobs in Washington, all you can do is stir up Hate, Lies and more Lies
What a chowder head! "Oh a bullet was fired at my office, that I sometimes use!" Lame. Police report says it was fired into the air and happened to hit his office. He was not targeted. He was not threatened. He is whiny. He is lame. This is all the far right wing has? Sad.
This just doesn't pass the sniff test. Poor Mr. Cantor is just "singing" the blues and probably staged the whole thing himself for sympathy purposes....poor baby...
"A preliminary investigation shows that a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window.",,,,,,,,,,
So basically this person was NOT shooting at Mr. Cantor's office.......
So Eric Cantor is a liar. Big surprise there. The only time he tells the truth are on days that don't end in 'Y'.
You should be ashamed of yourself you phony!
So according to the police report the bullet was fired into the air and it's downward trajectory penetrated the window. Someone did not shoot at his office!!!
Reading the police report it says that the "bullet was fired into the air, and struck the window in a downward direction landing on the floor..." Common sense tells me that IF you want to fire a bullet to cause harm, you will fire straight at the window...... not into the .......air.
From the start I thought this was fishy...... it smells alright.
Sounds like a ploy to take attention away from the vile things the thugs in his party is doing.
Rove tactic. Two days after the vote, days after racial slurs, spitting, broken windows, death threats against the Dems. The GOP had to have a finger to point and say "see we're experiencing violence too and the Dems are fanning the flames".
so, Cantor LIED.
It was a stray bullet, that didn't even "penetrate the window blinds"!! LOL.
Is CNN going to ask Cantor for a retraction of implying that "someone shot into his office"?
The bullet landed a foot into his office!! LOL.
Cantor is flat out lying.
Cantor – way to twist things, buddy. Your cohort uses cross-hairs to show where Dems work...and here you are blaming this on the dems! Maybe, just maybe, one of your sicko Republican followers were a bit too pi$$ed off that H/C reform passed. I'm glad it did, but you need to stop pointing fingers, buddy.
Why does CNN not point out the apparent discrepancies betweeen the police report and Cantor's statement. For starters, the shot was not fired "at his office" but into the air and it did not hit his office, but rather, a conference room he occasionally uses. Is there some reason for CNNnot doing this or following up?. It would appear that Cantor is fanning the flames by hyping this story and CNN, by burying the lede, is trying to help. Guys-do your job.
thanks
Fred
Oh those Democrats would never fan the flames of violence. Oh no, never the 'progressive' group that preach 'tolerance' (insert sarcasm)
Despite there being no suspects or any public knowledge about the motivation, he is very quick to blame key Democrats for "fanning the flames of violence". Why can't lawmakers be mature, respecting folks
while they legislate or fail to legislate our future?
must be some nut thinking tit for tat. you fan the flames and get your people to be violent and we can too. It is unfortunate that any kind of violent actions are done by either side. But when one side uses code retoric that indicates it's alright and condoned to use violent measures to make a statement, then others on the other side feel it's right to counter it with the same. The old saying "what goes around, comes around" seems to playing out here. This can only lead to a sad ending. Please stop this behavior all of you. You do us all a great disservice. Our forefathers would not have agreed to this, no matter how you think they would.
these are not the true Democrats, Mr Cantor. These are the Chicago gangsters
I am surprised that there actually was a shot fired. When Cantor first brought it up, I naturally assumed that it was just another Republican statement rather than anything that was true.
I certainly hope that the perpetrator is caught. The Conservative Radio "personalities" are already talking about Liberal Conspiracies to Silence the Courageous Voice of Conservatism."
Now the solution to this is well known, and Republicans have been talking about it for years. All Congressmen should carry a gun. When they see someone about to shoot at them, they can whip out their pistols and fire at the miscreants. Congressional spouses should be armed too. I think that will make them all feel a lot safer.
Your buddie Sarah is fanning the flames of violence by her writings on Facebook. She is pathetic and so are you.
That Eric Cantor would dare to accuse Democrats of 'fanning the flames' makes me want to laugh...
Everyone in this country knows which side has been fanning the flames. This guy is such an idiot... I wish he would be voted out of office...
Not sure that this makes sense. Repubs stir up their usual crew of crazies. Their crazies start spitting on Congressmen, using racial slurs, sexual orientation slurs, and vandalizing. Dems complain about Repub crazies doing all of this. And it's Dems fault for complaining about it that one of their crazies (which is apparently the first Dem crazy) goes after Cantor?
I watched this "liar" attempting to Justify the Violence that is being encouraged by him and his party. I knew he was lying when he step to that podium, and to hear him say someone shot at his office was just unbelievable. And now I read the police report!
I have to agree with Cantor on this.....a plot (well, that may be streching it) ..but it sure would work in a stratedgy to get sympathy votes...most Americans see violence as ugly... Best advice, save your strength for the pully on voting day..you have more power there than anywhere else at this point. Remember , who you elect influences who runs the budget, the courts, the country, your health care, etc....it's time to make the question list...put it in the drawer until close to the election and then ask the real questions.
How can any member of that party NOT expect some bleed over from all the lies and violent rhetoric they have spewed during this President's term so far?? Time for any Republican with a brain to disavow the teabaggers and Fox Noise and return to the respect of "loyal opposition."
