(CNN) - A national Tea Party group is taking sides in the battle for the Republican Senate nomination in California.
The Tea Party Express will endorse California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore Saturday, a spokesman for the group confirms to CNN. The endorsement is expected to happen at a rally headlined by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The event, in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's hometown of Searchlight, Nevada, will kick off the organization's third cross country caravan, which is expected to culminate with a march on Washington by multiple Tea Party groups on tax day, April 15.
Tea Party Express was one of a number of Tea Party groups that helped financially support Republican Scott Brown in his upset victory in January's special senate election in Massachusetts for the seat of the late Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy.
"We decided to endorse DeVore because we wanted to help with the California primary. We've watched the three Republican campaigns develop and it's clear that Chuck DeVore best represents the Tea Party ideal that we fighting for," Tea Party Express spokesman Levi Russell tells CNN.
News of the endorsement was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
DeVore is one of three Republicans running to challenge Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, who's facing a tough fight in her bid this year for a fourth term in office. Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, who was an advisor and surrogate to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, and former Rep. Tom Campbell, are also battling for the GOP Senate nomination.
A new Public Policy Institute of California poll released Thursday indicates that 24 percent of likely Republican primary voters back Fiorina, with 23 percent supporting Campbell, 8 percent backing DeVore and 44 percent undecided. According to the survey, Boxer is deadlocked with Fiorina and Campbell in hypothetical general election matchups, with Boxer leading DeVore by 6 points in a possible November showdown.
The Public Policy Institute of California poll was conducted March 9-16, with 1,102 likely California voters questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Yay teabaggers! Teabaggers Untie!
This is fantastic news! Tea Party & Palin-just keep endorsing...which will just continue to split the Repubs into factions. LOVE IT!
I am independent and am willing to vote Republican, but there is NO way I am voting for anyone that the Tea Party or Palin endorses. Now if Colin Powell were running...he'd have my vote. Until then, I'm sticking with the democrats.
Thank you! A tea party endorsement is the kiss of death for any politician. Looking forward to the split hairs.
Sarha is not mean but do not stand in her way. The Dem failed to listen to the will of the people and it will be heard come election time. The threats that are being made is not appropriate but is an exmaple that the people of America are extremly upset with the federal government. We are tired of taking care of others who refuse to work and fail to respect our value system. Yes, it is time to close the boarders for those who have a green cards have more rights than those who were born here. If we were to migrate elsewhere, one's rights and benefits would be in significant.
All those who chastize Palin are those who have no back bone to seek change and live for handouts. This country will be completely destroyed within the next ten years if we continue down the path we have been following for the last two years. Obama is lost and his follower are even worse. As I have said, the Dem are using Obama as a puppet and he needs to resign other wise this coutry will loose all what it has gained over the years. As we all know socialism is a night mear and equates to control..."Wake up and see the light"
If you do not pay taxes than you have no right to drive on the tax payers highways or hold marches on our streets. Nor do you have the right to vote in a Democratic election.
The Tea Party/Republican Party and Sarah Palin will be held accountable when something happens to a democratic congressperson. She's inciting the violence therefore she should be charged as a co-conspirator. I give it a week or two before some right wing loon does something really dangerous.
The Republican party better get a handle on Sarah Palin and the other wingnuts out there or they will end up giving the Dems a MUCH better 2010 mid-term result than they will otherwise achieve.
Palin,Beck, Limbaugh and those like them are just driving the moderate voters further and further into the Dems arms!!
Where were all these teabaggers when GW Bush was passing irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy during wartime? When he was leading us into two unfunded wars? When he expanded government at an unprecedented rate? When he de-regulated Wall Street, which in part lead to global financial collapse?
They don't seem to mind spending money on those kinds of things, but God forbid we should invest in our country, re-regulate the out-of-control financial industry or work to bring skyrocketing health care costs under control.
And who's financing all these (white) retirees to drive around our country staging these rallies? Are they all using up their savings to do this? I kind of doubt it; more likely, they're being subsidized by the GOP and Fox.
Boy this is a hoot! Go Tea Partiers! I hope you produce candidates forever so as to take votes away from the Republiklans.
this is the perfect example of why not vote republican because thier all a bunch of whack jobs full of hate fear and violence for antbody who does not agree with thier way of thinking.alot like adolph hitler
This is so laughable.
There are three candidates in the Republican Senate race in California. DeVore has almost 0% name recognition and is so far to the right that should lightening strike during a tidal wave and he won that race, he would lose to Boxer by better than 25 to 30 percentage points.
Carly Fiorina is known for two things. Being a breast cancer survivor and driving one of the best known and best loved public companies into the ground. Nothing says electability like wasting a lot of money and getting fired.
Tom Campbell is well known, but a centrist. Centrist Republicans don't do well in California primaries which are cesspools of the far right. With the Tea Party movement gathering strength and Tom's lack of money in comparison to the other two, he won't make it past the primary.
What have I been saying for years?????
The similarities between the republican party & the early Nazi Party are too close to be ignored.
The latest being the use of violence against all those who oppose their ideas.
If Republicans are able to take complete control of the House, the Senate & the Presidency, along with the Supreme Court (which remains in their backpocket), the '8' years under George '3 below plant life' Bush will have been just a warm-up.
Under Bush, they were able to set back Democracy for 8 years in terms of; individual rights, spying, torturing, lying & threats. The republicans were conditioning the USA to even more drastic measures down the road.
Condoning the beating & killing of all those Americans opposed to the republican ideal of White Supremacy is just the beginning. Of course they will (just like Hitler) have a use and a need for some Blacks, Jews, Gays, etc., until they are able to work out a plan for their annihilation.
Read your history & the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the republican party is simply a reincarnation of the Nazi Party.
Same rhetoric, ideas & goals, just a different place in a different time.
Human beings feel threatened because fear mongering leads to fear and irrational thought. The republican party has a strong base. The proof of that is; 15-20% of Americans still believe George Bush did a good job. The worst President in US history, an absolute moron with no ability to lead, make decisions or inspire, cannot be given credit for anything positive in terms of what is good for America.
Whether you agreed or disagreed with other Presidents, they at least had the intellect, the class, some past success and early achievement.
Bush was a coward (his military record proves that), a badly spoken illiterate (his speeches confirm that), a lier (Does WMD ring a bell) and is totally & completely responsible for the "Dumbing Down of the American Presidency."
I rest my case, which unlike the republican base is NOT a GUN CASE!
Personally I think the Tea Party has evolved, in a very short time, from a corporate funded astroturf organization into a domestic terrorist organization. And the GOP is courting them. Heck 75% of them identify as Republicans.
I have to wonder is this because of a couple of lost election cycles. If that's the case, and sore losers are allowed to act like temper tantrum throwing 2 years olds (with guns), we're in serious trouble. We're being destroyed from within. And did I mention the GOP is courting the Tea Party, as well as encouraging them as we saw this past weekened as some GOP members of the house addressed them from the balcony of the Capitol.
Republicans, either speak up, or you're going to own this when it blows. You've encouraged this through the whole health care debate, and you're on record as doing so, with your death panels and whatnot.
Sarah Palin == Bin Laden
both have extremist groups they use to insight hate for their own personal gain. Hey, can Bin Laden get a reality show, too?
After this past week and the hate mongering, death threats, cut gass lines, and numerous other violent acts perpatrated by this group, they have made themselves a NON-Party.
Can't-or, Boner, Palin, McShame.........they ALL need to take a step back and look at themselves.............THEY are making themselves the poster children of HATEMONGERING and VIOLENCE.
THEY know they have created a monster they can't control. THEY call themselves Christians with Christian 'values' when they are REALLY heathens who know they've been left behind.
the repugs have lost many voters and now they are fighting amongst themselves for votes. It's like a praying mantis eating her mate after making whoopee!!!
thanks tea baggers!! LOL
Ok Californa, Let's make sure we defet this person.
Any fool that votes for anyone person the tea party endorse has to be sick. The republican party is made up of old white men and their children still living in the past. They want to run this country. They don't care about Asians, Blacks, or Hispanics. It is time these group of people stand up and show them they can't run this country. This is everyone's country. We need to stick together and make sure those Republicans can't continue to help the rich and white and keep everyone else down. Don't vote republicans they are morons and the only way they know how to fight is to get stupid people like the tea party to do their dirty work. I just love the way Sarah Palin is getting rich off of those dummies. Say a few hateful words, put her name on a book she didn't write, and pretend to be American. She is laughing all the way to the bank. First dude don't even need to work. She don't need health care reform she can afford to keep insurance off the money these dummies are paying her to says word and produce words with no resolution. Oh by the way she is getting ready to keep her riches coming with a new reality show. She has no intellect but she is a good hustler. She is pimping the whole Republican Party – good job Sarah.
I hope this turns out as well as New York Dist. 23rd did for them. Good luck tea baggers!
I bet you're so happy that your guy, Scott Brown, voted for the jobs bills and is going to lunch with VP Biden.
sarah palin is a evil and stupid and boy thats a bad combination. Why does anybody listen to this moron, anybody with an ounce of brain? So this clown is the tea morons newest victim, well I hope this man knows what he got into, this is a bunch of loose rabid DOGS!!!!
Tea Party = GOP trained lap dog
The Senate without Reid would be totally different. Wow! Greatest change I can think of, other than Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi also being given their Pink Slip.
Who Care? They are so full of their hate it will lead to just name calling, go fish!
Teabagger's support hasn't historically been of much help, and the only one it MAY have helped get into office promptly turned on them and voted for what was best instead of what they wanted. Plus they've shown themselves to be a hateful violent and racist bunch of people – especially when they lose.
If I were DeVore I'd be running from this endorsement as fast and far as I could. I certainly wouldn't vote for anyone associated with the Tea Party people... I want stable leadership, not some wingnut in charge.
the kiss of death from a pack of racist morons.........
