Washington (CNN) - Barack Obama heads to Maine next week, the president's second stop outside of the nation's capitol to tout the benefits of health care reforms since he signed the bill into law on Tuesday.
The White House says the president will hold a health care event in Portland, Maine next Thursday. Obama went to Iowa Thursday to build support for the health care measure, his first event outside of Washington since signing the legislation.
After his stop in Maine, Democratic sources tell CNN that Obama is expected to headline a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Boston.
The White House says the next day the president jumps on Air Force One again, destination Charlotte, North Carolina, where he's scheduled to deliver remarks on the economy.

Obama is visiting the people who put him in office. Most presidents don't return to Iowa until it's time for another caucus. Obama remembers who has supported him and that is refreshing.
Any day now however, we will here people complaining again that he should be focusing on the economy instead of traveling. I mean no one expects that the ability to walk AND chew bubblegum simultaneously should be a prerequisite of his job.
What a bunch of morons! Pass this into law and then go out and try to make it palatable !
Today the news covered a nanny in Ky. who saved the child she was watching from their burning home. She is in the hospital for burns to her feet and her right hand. Found out she does not have health care ins. & now will have to pay for a week of health care for saving this kid's life. May be she will think twice next time before saving someone's life and think about what it is going to cost you just as insurance greed and stupid uneducated selfish republicans do. I have had health care for 32 years someone tell me why my health insurance is refusing to pay a $13K bill due to the ambulance taking my husband to a hospital emergency room when he was having complication from a heart attack. The hosp. is 25 minutes from my residence and my health ins co stated he should have went to Providence hosp which is 1 and 1/2 hours away?
i hate to say it but i have been living in US for quite some time and this country become one of the most selfish people i have ever met in my life...we do not take care of each other....other people do not have health insurance, we claim that we are a christain nation and we act like some selfish people i know we are going to get on our high horse and point out all the things that we have done for other people and country and i know we have but stop acting like we are a vagabond and get some bowels of compassion and help those people who do not have health insurance and cannot pay for it..we do anyway when they go to the emergency room ...when we get our astrnomical bill when we go to the doctors...I'm not rich but i do not mind , its going to come out of our taxes anyway...help somebody and get over ourselves...i also know some ignorant and rude people is gong to come on and disagree but do it in a respectful way and do not let the world see our true colors...restrain yourselves.

As the Commander in Chief he has to go on international trips. Just like officials of other countries come to Washington to meet with him.
He can and should go ALL over these United States. From sea to shining sea. Meeting with his citizens, dispelling lies, and instilling trust where only fear has existed. He is a beacon of light and THE HARDEST WORKING PRESIDENT many of us have ever witnessed.

He was a senator for less than 2 full years before he started to campaign. And most of them would get health care insurance as a benefit is they got a job. They will also tell you if they got sick or hurt now while they are unemploymed, they can go to emergency and get treated. But they can't go anywhere to get the money to pay for their mortgage or rent or bills.
Get a clue Obama. You bullied your own reluctant party members to pass a bad bill and Obamacare is now law. Now he is just obsessed with his legacy. He can't focus on anything else until a majority of Americans love Obamacare so he can have his throne in history.
Meanwhile Americans are suffering without jobs and the nation's back is being slowing borken under a mountain of debt.

Big deal. Presidents travel to see the people and to spread the message he is trying to get out. If its political, the campaign and the party pay for it. I'd much rather have a president travel and work, either on fund raising or talking about a topic or going overseas that sitting on his butt at the ranch like Bush did. Presidents need a vacation. Reagan had his ranch. But he worked as did every other president.
When you have a third of your time asleep at the switch like Bush did, that is a bit much. And he was the first guy to make $400,000 a year.
