MSNBC host denies Senate run

'I'm not running against Scott Brown,' Maddow wrote.
'I'm not running against Scott Brown,' Maddow wrote.

Washington (CNN) - An MSNBC host has taken a full page ad out Friday in The Boston Globe slamming Sen. Scott Brown, R-Massachusetts.

Rachel Maddow accuses the senator of making things up, and smearing her to raise money and, essentially, insulting Massachusetts.

In the ad, Maddow, who lives in Massachusetts, criticizes Brown for a fundraising e-mail that he sent out this week where he suggests she might challenge him in 2012.

"[B]efore I've even settled into my new job, the political machine in Massachusetts is looking for someone to run against me," Brown wrote supporters. "And you're not going to believe who they are supposedly trying to recruit – liberal MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow."

Brown's e-mail then takes a shot at the cable news host. "I just don't think America can afford her liberal policies," he said.

Brown cited an obscure Boston-area blog post from March 5 as the source of the Maddow rumors.

Firing back, Maddow wrote in her ad, which she also posted on her blog that Brown, "made that up."

"I'm not running against Scott Brown," Maddow wrote. "I never said I was running against Scott Brown. The Massachusetts Democratic Party never asked me to run against Scott Brown."

"It's just not true. Honestly. I swear." The cable news host added that Brown "never even tried to find out if it was true."

Instead, Maddow claimed Brown is smearing one of his constituents to "scare donors into giving him more money." Maddow said, to her, that feels like Brown is insulting Massachusetts.

Brown won his seat in a January special election to fill the remaining three years of the late Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy. But he must face voters again, in 2012, to win a full term.

I thought Brown might be a cut above the average right-wing Senator, but I guess he is just as sleazy as the rest of them.

Oh my, another Republican is caught lying? I thought that the "Karl Rove" tactic of "Lie, lie, lie until something sticks" was part and parcel of being Republican these days. Obscure, obstruct and lie, lie, lie - the new mantra of the "Gaggle of Pinheads" (GOP). Hey Republicans, try running on that platform and see how far it gets ya. Oh, that's right, you're ALL READY running on that platform. I'll even help you. Here's your bumper sticker: We lied about Iraq. We lied about Health Care. And now, to show you how much we love America, we're gonna lie, lie, lie some more. Grow up Republicans and stop acting like spoiled brats who lost a game of kickball. Get off your sorry, "Just Say No" lying asses and do something for the country. That or just get out of the way.

Why doesn't Brown pulling this surprise me? Oh, I remember now. Brown is a Republican! Lies, rumors and dirty tricks is the entire Republican playbook when running for public office.

Use lies, threats and fear mongering. Feed into the lower elements fears with racists, homophobic and terrorist language to keep them in the fold.

Does the Republican party have anyone with an ounce of integrity? Anyone? Sure doesn't look like it in the last couple of years.

Scott Brown and republicans in general make up these things all the time to fund raise. Look at how they tried to use Ed Shultz for the same reason. Fox went mad telling MSNBC they had to fire Ed because it wasn't fair he had a show to push his campaign, while forgetting Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin are guest speakers and both are seeking office actively. A bit of a double standard you see. By the way, Ed wasn't and isn't

Maddow, once again you have something to cry about. You should be glad you've been plucked out of nowhere to such a (made-up position). However, would you be good for elected office? Why yes, you can continue to make up things holding office as you do on the air.

Miss Maddow is intellectually superior to Scott Brown. Brown is a lizard brain who thinks he can make campaign money attacking one of the finest ladies in "talk journalism." So I guess the question is, "Senator Brown, what have you done for the people of Massachusetts lately?" Brown responds, " I attacked a lady that's not running against me so I could raise money for my senatorial campaign."

She is right about one thing. The thought of her running for office would scare almost anyone enough to give large amounts of money to Brown's next campaign.
