Pelosi still waiting for the birthday gift she really wants

Washington (CNN) – After more than a year of wrangling with the White House, the Senate, and her own House Democratic colleagues, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi finally got to sign final health care reform legislation on her 70th birthday and send it to the president to sign into law. But as much as Pelosi called signing the bill "a birthday privilege," she's still still waiting for the present she really wants - a pool table.

The Speaker told reporters after the bill signing that her husband wasn't sold on the idea of the pool table, so she enlisted her grandchildren to lobby him. "They are going to work on pop, which is my husband."

Pelosi was still hopeful she'd get her birthday wish, and is headed home California to celebrate with her family.

To mark the occasion, Pelosi's House colleagues sang "happy birthday" and presented her with a chocolate cake, her favorite. House Ways and Means Chairman Sander Levin, D-Michigan, joked afterwards that passing health care reform "was not a piece of cake."

why is my comment, made @ 12:04pm ET still "awaiting moderation"? when comments made as late as 4:19pm ET are being posted? Did I write something offensive? or just not what CNN moderators want to read?

    Mike in MN,

What's the weather like in that dream world you're living in?

If you think Obama "welcoming" a repeal attempt by the right is violent rhetoric, what do you think about the racial slurs and threats that your "peaceful" tea party has time and time again hurled towards the left and members of congress?

Something tells me you're ok with all that stuff.

    @ MikeMin MN:
You gotta be kidding!!! I listened to President Obama's entire speech. He was replying to the opposition's promise to repeal the health care act. There was no intention on his part...implied or otherwise...to be "violent."
If you want to see the perpetration of violence...check out Palin's website with it's bullseyes on Democrats who voted for the bill!!!

She had better enjoy herself now; in Nov. she can get on her broom and ride into the sunset when the democrats lose and lose big time. Remember in Nov.

Nancy looks fabulous at 70. She is a poster child for the statement that "70 is the new 40".

I admire her ability to always think of people who are less fortunate than she is. She is a remarkable lady!!!!!

She wouldn't have to buy a cue ball. She seems to like knocking people around so....isn't the job of a cue ball to get the other balls off the table. She is a joke, a bad one, but a joke.

Kudos to Ms. Pelosi. She did a fantastic job of convincing the house dems about the importance of passing the healthcare reforms bill and unifying (sort of) them behind the bill.
