Palin opens Tea Party protest in Reid's hometown

Searchlight, Nevada (CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin kicked off a Tea Party rally Saturday in Sen. Harry Reid's hometown, encouraging disgruntled Americans to "take back our country" while attacking what she called the "Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending spree."

"There's no better place to kick off the Tea Party Express than Harry Reid's hometown," Palin said at the rally, dubbed "Showdown in Searchlight," aimed at conjuring up support for the Senate Majority Leader's defeat in November elections.

Activists - some of whom are calling the gathering the largest retirement party in the world - hope it will carry a strong symbolic message.

Reid, the Senate majority leader, is credited with helping push through Congress the controversial health care bill that President Barack Obama signed Tuesday, as well as the so-called "fixes" measure that passed Thursday.

"Washington has broken faith with the people that they are to be serving," Palin told the crowd, which numbered in the thousands.

Palin said the message to government leaders was "loud and clear."

"The big government, the big debt, Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending spree is over. You're fired," she said, prompting cheers from the crowd.

Palin's speech Saturday echoed many of her recent appearances at Tea Party events as she promoted "common sense conservative values" and decried "elites in Washington" and big government spending.

She addressed recent criticism of a post on her Facebook page that called for conservatives not to retreat in the wake of the health care vote, but "reload." Some critics have suggested the post encouraged violent acts against those who voted in favor of the legislation.

"Let's clear the air right now," she said. "We're not inciting violence. Don't get sucked into the lame-stream media lies about Americans standing up for freedom. it's a bunch of bunk that the media is trying to feed you. Don't let them try to divert" attention from the issue.

It's unclear to me what is meant by "take back our country", would someone out there explain to me exactly what this means. I'm not trying to be funny or sarcasticm, just looking for the most logical and sensible answer.

With the recent escalation in violence (on both sides) it would be beneficial for all concerned to tone it down. When violence of this nature escalates, the Secret Service should be brought in and arrests made.

Palin, preaching to the choir.. telling all them racist, biggots that they're not racist biggots... which makes it so in la la land.

Fortunately, conventional wisdom has taught us that when groups behave like absolute jerks, it usually drives the sane people further away – so keep it up crazies. Declaring your ignorance at the top of your lungs lets us all see clearly who we need to avoid.

And if you get violent, you will pay dearly.

Claudia, Houston, Tx let me clear it up. There are people in this world that things there for any reason should not be a black man in the white house. Sarah Plains own father told the media that she quit the University of Hawaii because of to many diverse people. I guess not enough of whites, but Hawaiians are white.

Claudia-means control by the people or voters-example,the HC bill was opposed by 77% of the people and the Dems voted yes .When 77% are in opposition, most feel like any party would side with the majority of 77%.Taking back the country means the voters rule and not the desires of the politicians. Now even the democratic voters do not rule, the democratic politicians do as they so desire.

What a glorious day in Searchlight. Tea baggers from miles around will congregate in the middle of the desert next to a cactus shrub and a snake den. There they will plot to "take back THEIR country" from the black guy in THEIR White House. The desert location was especially appealing because, in that hot arid desert clime there will not be any smelly scrotum sweat while tea bagging.

They will ignore the facts that President Obama was elected by a majority of 53% in a Democratic election,

The TP Express events will play out like this.

Bailin' Palin will be crowned by Michele Bachmann as "Miss Racism 2010 and Beyond".

For the competition, she appeared with a roguish tilt to her "gimme" hat with McCain inked out, giving testimony to the fact she is still torqued that she did not remember to grab appropriate head gear when the Reds were paying the bills at Neiman's!

Her cammo two piece swim suit, she must keep those favorable male polls up, will have a German Luger tucked discreetly into the waist band, next to her "Jesus Saves:" tat. She will wear the waist band high to conceal the list she believes Jesus will save!

She will have "peek-a-boo" newborn bunny fur ankle boots, which she herself designed after helicoptering in and shoving a double barrel shot gun into the warren. The boots will include 4 inch spike heels, again for the male poll numbers, but also so they can double as stakes should she encounter any witches when she is not traveling with her beloved "witch doctor".

Saint Sarah of the Silly will give a speech defining each of the 10 "purity" commandments of the Reds and the new tea bagging "first principles". She will then demonstrate how to shout "Seig Hiel" through missing front teeth, without forming a whistling sound.

The TP rally will break up into how to sessions:

1 How to build and burn a cross from a safe distance..

    2. How to sew, press and store the white sheets and hood.

    3. How to make a hangman’s noose.

    4. How to screen print Hitler’s picture onto t-shirts.

    5. How to throw bricks aimed at 12 x 12 plate glass windows.

The tea baggers will hold a day long KKK rally to showcase the new skills during the next 19 stops of the TP Express!

CNN, I'll be surprised if you post this..

What does it say about your motives when you give non-stop coverage of the 'tea party', and practically no coverage of those who are ecstatic over the passage of Healthcare reform bill?

Try to educate your readers beyond the disgrunteld minority.. or are you sympathetic to the 'Tea Party'. I guess it all comes down to special tax breaks for the rich and your biggest advertisers (big oil, big pharma, big military).

Palin is as useless as titties on a bull. She quit Alaska politics, and on her constituents,.. just so she could subvert other state's politics,... she's an extremely divisive force, and would be very dangerous ,..if she had a brain. Go home Sarah,... you're in way over your head, here in the lower 48.

Another bunch of stupid comments from the most abrasive woman out there, with the exception of Ann Coulter of course. If this woman is the Tea Party's spokes person, I don't want to belong! And...the 70 year old man that was present andcommented about President Obama, it's because of the Democratic Party that you're collecting Social Security and Medicare, yet there you are supporting the Republican Party of No which voted against both of those programs. How dumb can you be or how hyprocritical can you be when you're out spouting off about government programs yet are partaking in them.

Sorry Claudia, but if you expect Sarah Palin to answer your question, you would be out of luck because she talks in "sound bites',, something she's heard here, something she's heard there,.and frankly, i don't think she listens, even when she's talking.Really, other than talk, talk, talk and walk out on her governorship, pretend to write a book, wind up the "tea partiers", really, what has she done? She just rephrases what other people have said, smiles a lot and throws in a little "down home" humor., and some how charms the audience{mostly male} A very large segment of our population aren.t buying it and are waiting for her to drift away into the sunset. P.S. I don't know what she means either.

This is great. So 10,000 people who do not live there and know nothing about their town are going to camp in open space, leave their garbage and scream and make a bunch of noise...and even have the nerve to tell them how to vote.

How "grass roots is that?" Do any people from the town know ANY of these people? What if some big business lobbyist paid them? Palin at first said she was grass roots and now is campaigning for McCain. How truthful is that?
I feel sorry for the town having to put up with a bunch of noisy and bossy outsiders who want to tell them how to vote in their own state and town.

I guess she refers to the fact that the GOP lost the last elections, that we were all much better off under Bush-Cheney, and that she wants to win the next elections. Good luck with that. I did not hear what she said, but if the above article contains the essence of the speech, it was clearly missing substance.

What in the world was that Sarah Palin talking about? Also, that John McCain? They are sickening people. As comical as I think they are, I get sick to my stomach listening to them, especially Sarah Palin's obnoxious voice. It disturbs me that there are people amening her sickness. I truly think she's mentally retarded. She's making millions of dollars at the expense of people who just don't get it. She's a disgusting person.

As Sarah Palin helped Obama to win against Macain by a very wide margin, so shall she help Reid to win by a very wide margin. The expectations of Republicans from that ignorant lady called Sarah Palin shall surely and always be the opposite. The few intelligent Republicans know the truth, but they keep silent for fear of being branded the enemy within.
