Palin opens Tea Party protest in Reid's hometown

Searchlight, Nevada (CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin kicked off a Tea Party rally Saturday in Sen. Harry Reid's hometown, encouraging disgruntled Americans to "take back our country" while attacking what she called the "Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending spree."

"There's no better place to kick off the Tea Party Express than Harry Reid's hometown," Palin said at the rally, dubbed "Showdown in Searchlight," aimed at conjuring up support for the Senate Majority Leader's defeat in November elections.

Activists - some of whom are calling the gathering the largest retirement party in the world - hope it will carry a strong symbolic message.

Reid, the Senate majority leader, is credited with helping push through Congress the controversial health care bill that President Barack Obama signed Tuesday, as well as the so-called "fixes" measure that passed Thursday.

"Washington has broken faith with the people that they are to be serving," Palin told the crowd, which numbered in the thousands.

Palin said the message to government leaders was "loud and clear."

"The big government, the big debt, Obama-Pelosi-Reid spending spree is over. You're fired," she said, prompting cheers from the crowd.

Palin's speech Saturday echoed many of her recent appearances at Tea Party events as she promoted "common sense conservative values" and decried "elites in Washington" and big government spending.

She addressed recent criticism of a post on her Facebook page that called for conservatives not to retreat in the wake of the health care vote, but "reload." Some critics have suggested the post encouraged violent acts against those who voted in favor of the legislation.

"Let's clear the air right now," she said. "We're not inciting violence. Don't get sucked into the lame-stream media lies about Americans standing up for freedom. it's a bunch of bunk that the media is trying to feed you. Don't let them try to divert" attention from the issue.

Claudia: "take back our country" means having things the way that old school conservative Americans like, or think they do.

Senator Reid's statement today about the TeaBaggers:

"I'm happy so many people came to see my hometown of Searchlight and spend their out-of-state money especially in these tough economic times. Ultimately though this election will be decided by Nevadans, not people from other states who parachute in for one day to have a tea party."

Awesome burn Harry!! Democrats: Time to fight back at the lunatic fringe with civilized, yet acidic statements like this. We cannot let these people keep on with this. It's time to fight!! C'mon people!

What I'm wondering is why the tea partiers and Sarah Palin want to dumb down America? Palin's constant reference to the teleprompter is old, stale and has no purpose other than to show that there are people in this world who would rather write notes on the palm of their hand rather than use modern technology. That is another problem the party on no has, they do not want this country to move forward, progress, move into the 21st century, move beyond the Regan years. They want to remain in the past, never progress but only move backwards.

One day Palins nasty mouth will get her in big trouble. As this woman ever spoken at an event where she hasnt bashed some one. This woman pretends to be a christian this is really sad. Well I hopeful that the lord some day come upon her and set her straight. I think the FBI should look into to her reload statement ands her map she put out. She even had John Boy believin he was part of the tea party gang. Maybe he let her give her concession speech the other night. That he would not let her give on election night.

Claudia, I'm sure that Palin doesn't even know what it means. It's just words that are written for her by someone else, and if it gets her adoring fans excited, she'll repeat over and over again. Yawn.

This Health Reform Bill is not all about Health Care, and tht is the whole problem of all that is going on. In a country with the economy and unemployment is so low, what Americans don't need right now is being taxed to the hilt. Not only that many dont want so much government delving into their private lifes, and this bill does just that.

The bill was pushed through without any ethics at all, behind backdoor dealings, bribes, bought votes, in fact this should be investigated by the ethics commitie.

There are many many Americans that are totally not happy with this bill and what it stands for.

If it was done properly, to help All Americans and All States, without all the bribes , etc. and then it was brought to the people to look at and discuss and then vote on it, that would have been the right way.

There are things in there that are not even health related and that dont belong in a health reform bill.

This was just done all wrong and pushed through fast just to say they did it and to be put down in history, but what they didnt do is listen to the people, what they wanted and needed.

Sure there are some good points, points that were long needed, but there are many many bad points to pay for those good points.

Well Claudia, here's the way it seems to me........Conservatives, seem to think the country is only doing good, and not in danger, and representing American values, when a republican is President.
This is a farse and a sham!!!! Conservatives, and liberals, and independents, all make up what is America, and we're a better country b/c of it!!!!!!

An excerpt from a Harry S. Truman q & a, while he was President.

Voice in the crowd: Give 'em hell Harry!

President Truman: I never gave 'em hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.

This sums up President Obama, and his strong opposition.

She gave an awsome speech. It was definitely a speech that Real Americans could relate to and be proud of. It is definitely time to take the country back from the socialists, radicals and overall anti American Fringe Liberals who have infiltrated our government. These Lunatics led by Osama (oh, excuse me I meant Obama) have similar goals as Al Queda which is to destroy the USA and all it stands for. Thank god people are waking up and acknowledging that we have a Radical leading the country (not really a leader but attempts to play the role) I realize that the Radical supporters will put some digusting comments on this story (radicals are drawn to news organizations such as CNN, PMSNBC, NY TIMES, WAPO etc...) but in the end and come November they will added to the unemployment statistics. As far as OBOZO the one and done Socialist Clown, he will be luck to make it to 2012 without either being impeached or just physically renmoved due to revolution. COUNT ON IT!!!

What really gets to me is how can ANYONE take a shower and put clothes on to go and listen to Sarah Palin? For the life of me, I just can't comprehend that. Anyone who has listen to Sarah Palin without a speech sheet or a cheat sheet can immediately understand that she is an empty head. Well, my question just got answered – it takes an empty head to be able to listen to another empty head.

And hopefully all of those "retirees" choose to REFUSE their Medicare and SOCIAL security benefits!

After all, they don't want to be called Socialists, and they don't want to accept a dime from that government in Washington, DC.

They have to be reminded that they ARE the government, but most of these teabaggers aren't that intelligent. Otherwise, they wouldn't be listening to the stupidist female on Earth, Sarah McPalin.

Sarah Palin calling anyone or anything "lame" is like pot calling the kettle black. It's the symbiotic relationship between these two, unfortunately for the sane segment of the population of this country, which seems to be shrinking by the day...

It is exactly what Joseph Goebbels was telling the Germans right before Hitler took over. The tea party/Fox news talk show fascist are dangerously close to enticing riots in this nation. If Fox news tells a lie often enough, it's listeners will believe it to be fact. Fascism will come to this county disguised as anti-fascism. These tea party idiots are undereducated and racist. It started out with Ron Paul and a young highly educated youth movement. They wanted to cut down on government, and stop sending our soldiers to fight in wars we do not belong in. It has been taken over by a bunch of older white racist morons.

Taking back our country to them, is cut government spending and attack Iran. Now ask these fools how they plan on paying for that? These wars cost more in a month than our health care would for a year. If Obama has made one mistake, it was caving into the right and sending more troops to Afghanistan. Sara Palin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh should be prosecuted for treason. Just look at what they are saying about a treaty with Russia! Are we to listen to a bunch of high school and college drop outs/ These people went to journalism school. They make their money pissing people off, not telling the truth! CNN be brave and print this!
