Palin endorses military veterans running for Congress

Sarah Palin is backing three Republicans seeking House seats in November.

Washington (CNN) – After a weekend of campaigning for Sen. John McCain's re-election bid in Arizona, Sarah Palin expanded her 2010 efforts on Monday by endorsing three military veterans running for Congress, calling them "a new generation of heroes who are heeding their country's call for leadership in Washington."

All three are Republican House candidates hoping unseat vulnerable Democrats in November.

The candidates: Vaughn Ward, a former CIA officer and Marine running in Idaho's 1st District; Allen West, a retired Lt. Colonel who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, running in Florida's 22nd District; and Adam Kinzinger, a pilot who flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, running in Illinois' 11th District.

Ward has already picked up McCain's endorsement.

"I believe that these great veterans will fight for us in D.C. to uphold and defend our constitution as courageously in the halls of Congress as they did on the field of battle," Palin wrote on her Facebook page Monday. "I'm so honored to offer my support to these American heroes, and I hope you'll join me in helping them so that they can serve us all in Washington."

The former Alaska governor will campaign for all three Republicans at a later date, along with donating to their campaigns.

How does this work? Does some sane group of people sit around and discuss who we can get to come in a really promote our canidate. Someone with high credibility, experienced at getting results, in touch with the issues.
Naw–let just bring in a celebrity and keep with the traditions of avoiding the issues and solutions.

Sorry dim bulb barbie, we already had a former CIA guy run for public office, and between him and his idiot kid who couldn't even be bothered to show up for weekend warrior duty, they nearly destroyed the nation.

As the spouse of a military retiree, and having worked as a civilian for the Department of the Army, my experience is they're fast becoming fanatically religious. Considering you're endorsing them, that means they're the frothing at the mouth type. An Army officer once started a conversation with me about the mentally ill woman in Texas who drowned her 5 kids in the bathtub, and how she deserved to burn in hell for what she had done. When I stated that she was mentally ill and had been for years, and that perhaps her husband should have stopped making babies with her, he became defensive and said her having those children was "God's will! Everything is God's will!" I responded that if "everything is God's will", wasn't it also "God's will" that she killed her children? He became indignant, made a few comments under his breath, and left.

Is she endorsing all veterans running because of their service, or only Republican veterans?

Like always, Caribou Barbie is spinning so transparently that you can only roll your eyes.

It sickens me to no end as to how CNN politicizes every thing this woman says or do. CNN is just as much responsible for the divisiveness in this country as Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News. Who cares about her opinion.

well that's going to be the kiss of death for those three candidates. would she endorse a democratic veteran over a republican non -veteran( like the vfw DID NOT do in illinois)? if not, then don't play up the veteran friendly rhetoric.

Glad she is giving help to these candidates. I agree there are many military men and woman who are not qualified for office but those who are will serve us with honor and courage. Palin's endorsement makes the wingnuts heads spin. That in itself is worth the $ I will send all who she endorses. Obama is the worst President since Carter. That should really get the lefties wee-wee'd up.

I am not crazy about Ms Palin but she does have some good ideas. She doesn't incite any more violence than left wingers and the biased media.
As far as qualifications for higher office, what has that empty suit President who was a "community organizer" done for us besides making the U.S. a laughing stock in foreign policy and bankrupting us with an idiotic health care reform bill? I am not a mathematician but his creative math doesn't make sense. How can hospitals be in better financial shape with more patient payments for medicare/medicaid, but still have medicare reimbursements cut by 22.7%???? I work in health care and there are no new jobs, in fact we are cutting jobs in the major hospitals. There are shortages of doctors and nurses, has been for a long time too, how are we supposed to staff the hospitals even if we get money, crochet the staff? Of course as a nurse who has been an RN for 40 years I cannot afford to retire so I will have to be around for the 2014 debacle, since social security,a pittance of a pension, crashing investments, and questionable medicare health coverage will not sustain me in the golden years.

If Senator McCain needs to rely on voters attracted to Sarah Palin he's in bigger trouble than one would have expected. Palin represents an element that does not take responsibility for their actions...does not meet the obligations of the office they seek to occupy....abandons their fellow citizens in times of economic challenge... in other words a real Bush "lite" disciple. I had hoped that the bona fide war hero was above association with the likes of SP. Apparently the Senator needs to re-introduce himself to the electorate he rarely sees.

Hurry! Call the Swiftboaters. We can't have these here genuine war heroes running for office – we must discredit them and dishonor them before they lie this country into poverty.

What's that? It's different because these are Republicans? Honesty and humility aren't expected of them?

    Well, ain't that cute?

This poor excuse for a woman is a home grown terrorist and should be arrested for inciting violence. Send her home to look after her dysfunctional family and unwed mother.

Do you want the name of a real American hero? Tammy Duckworth. She's a vet who was injured in combat who now works endlessly for veterans of all wars. Ms. Palin, with all due respect, you need to sit your never served a day in the military quitter ash down and be quiet.

  16. Palin Power

Sarah Palin will be successful in getting these three guys elected to Congress. This is a clear sign that Palin will become America's next and greatest president of all times come 2013-2021. After her 8 years, only conservative white women shall be President and Vice-President. Palin's all-white woman government will be the greatest government in history!

I would like to remind those here who say their military service does not necessarily qualify them for political service – our CURRENT CIC had little or no experience in politics too.

And frankly, neither did most of the Congressmen and Senators who currently work on the Hill.

And frankly, I'd rather trust my country and my life to those who have ALREADY sworn to uphold and protect the Constitution of the US and who have already been serving to do just that.

If Palin really supported the troops, she would be using her bullhorn to advocate for an END to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, instead of berating Obama's foreign policy and hinting that she would attack Iran and N. Korea. I am amazed at the support this moron has...she is as anti-American as anyone I have ever seen.

  20. VOICE OF REASON

To SAVE MY STATE and others. TO vote for someone because he or she is a "veteran" is as about as wrong as you can get. What we need in Washington is not necessaily and outsider, but someone who knows and undersatnds our political system of government. Vertrans are brave men and women who fought to protect our country, but they were train to kill, not in politics and that is the problem. You Republicans nutcakes were screaming that Obama lacked experience in Government and now you are all for electing anyone including veterans who while perhpas having good intentions are wholey inexperienced at a time when our nation is facing one of the worst set of problem in our histroy. We need leader who understand the system and how to work in it and not outsiders who don't have a cue!

Hey Seth, I hate to burst that angry bubble, but your country hasn't gone anywhere. All that crap being spewed by the teary Beck and the nervy Palin is lies. Obama is American, a Christian, and doing a very good job at fixing the mess he was left to deal with. He has gotten TARP money back from the banks, stopped many terrorist attacks, given you a tax break, is encouraging the housing rebound, has overseen the stock market surge, and is trying to get us insured. He has also scaled back the wars, and we have friends in the world again. If this is somehow socialism, it's fine by me. But it isn't, and never was. So you and your frightened masses can just watch and wonder when Dems take an even larger majority come November. Lying, screaming, and swearing, along with rocks and guns, are not the way to win friends. And Palin's million fans will never sway an election.

Take a look at their sites before wailing about Palin. There will be few Dem vets running because they would have to be socialist pacifists! It is policy that makes Ward and West especially attractive. West can not only orate , he give reasons why liberalism is a disase tearing apart the fabric of our society. Good for Sarah. As the lefties here whine, ask yourself if Pelosi or Boxer would be good supporters of your candidate? Both of them are so anti-free enterprise that one wonders just how American business people could ever vote for them. Any business person could vote for the Palin endorsed 3 Vets.
