Democrats raise money off of Biden's F-bomb

(CNN) – President Obama's political organization agrees with Vice President Joe Biden: "Health Reform is a BFD."

While using the four-letter word could land an elementary school kid in detention, Organizing for America is embracing it with the hope of raising some cash.

OFA, the president's political arm housed at the Democratic National Committee, is using Biden's now infamous phrase on a T-shirt to commemorate the signing of health care reform into law.

Donors who give at least $25 will receive "a limited edition 'Health Reform is a BFD' T-shirt in a super-soft, fine jersey (men's) or baby rib (women's) cotton fabric," according to a new fundraising page posted Wednesday on OFA's Web site.

A jubilant Biden made the remark after he finished introducing Obama before the president signed the landmark legislation last week. As he was stepping away from the podium, the vice president leaned in to Obama and said, "This is a big f***king deal."

A microphone picked up the vice president's comments. A short time later, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs wrote on his Twitter account: "And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right ... "

Now, OFA is comparing the signing of the health care reform legislation into law to other momentous occasions.

"There are things that are a big deal - birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game," OFA wrote in a fundraising note. "And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans."

Brad Woodhouse, a DNC spokesman, told CNN he thinks it is important for Democrats to highlight the importance of health care reform.

"Health reform is a huge and historic deal that will benefit American families and small businesses," Woodhouse said. "We and our supporters agree with the Vice President – health reform is a big bleeping deal."

I can't believe what big joke this has become. Our tax dollars at work while DC seems to think its all a joke from one bill to another, republicans and democrats alike No better with the President (who promised us CHANGE) adds his little comments about no meteors falling from the sky. Im still waiting for the change I voted for. Let's hope its not from bad to worse.

As a reading teacher, I am always looking for cute ideas to put on my student's book logs. NOW I have a "catchy one"... READING IS A BFD!!!!!
Please, what would happen to a teacher who said that in a classroom? I can tell you... he/she would lose their job!!!!!! Yet our VP can say this on national TV and it's funny. No class at all!!! The Obama team should worry less about health care right now and more about just getting some basic manners down pat. I can only imagine what the other national heads think. BIWT (BIDEN IS WHITE TRASH) sounds good to me!!!!

If i had the money, I'd buy one in a minute. This is a lot easier to take than some of the things on the signs at the "TEA PARTIES"A.ctually this was said in private and as often happens was picked up by an open mike. Big deal.

"And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans."

This comment left out the part that Americans are REQUIRED to purchase insurance and noncompliance leads to IRS fines.

It also leaves out the explanation that our President has no backbone and gave up on the Public option way too early, only to pass a bill that serves up Americans to the Insurance Companies so he and his buddies can get rich. Sound like any other recent President?

Ok, where do we get them CNN?

I have not gotten an emai from OFA yet about them and I seem to ALWAYS get one nor was there anything at the website.

I already donated for the one that shows HCR checked off the campaign promises list.

If I wasn't opposed to some of the components of the bill, I would definitely buy one of these shirts. Biden is hilarious.

Isn't there enough vulgarity and crudity in America today? The language used during the past year's "debate" on health care is prime evidence. Why can't people express themselves without resorting to garbage and trash language? You are the way you express yourself.
