Republicans celebrate April Fools by praising Obama

Republicans are praising President Obama on April Fools Day.

(CNN) - National Republicans praised President Obama Thursday and declared that he has "kept all his promises" and is "truly the greatest president ever."

No, this is not an episode of “The Twilight Zone.” It's an April Fools Day joke from the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

In a new Web video, the GOP organization tasked with regaining control of the Senate this November, cheers Obama for solving global warming "by replacing cars with low-emission unicorns” and achieving an unemployment rate of "negative 39 percent," among other “accomplishments.”

If it wasn’t already clear, the committee quickly said it's only joking:

"Get real,” an announcer abruptly said. “ObamaCare is just the latest in a long list of broken promises by the liberals in Washington. No transparency. A government takeover of health care. And even more jobs threatened by billions in mandatory new health care costs. Promise after promise…broken. Don't be fooled by Obama and the Democrats in Congress."

My comment is I wish the republican's would just leave the president alone. When Obama was elected president, the US was already in a mess. The President have been doing a great job. You need to thank George Bush for this mess, the President can not clean this up in one year or even four years. I just wish every one could just get a long, if you know your bible, the bible say's the last will be first, and the first will be last.

And the message is then it's okay to be fooled by republicans in the Presidency and Congress? One thing is for certain, the republicans are the leading clowns in our country–they're just not very funny.

What really would have fooled everyone is if they did something actually worthwhile – like agreeing to negotiate in good faith or proposing something that really helps the average man....

Of course, we would have found out it was a joke anyway.. as are they..

Nice try RNC. Do you feel better now? Maybe you should go and visit your sexual bondage club and let them help you feel better. Oh, and be sure to do that on your supporters' dimes. Good luck with all of that!

At least the GOP has a glimmer of hope in them - a sense of humor. I don't think that they would have been worth saving or hoping for them to be around if they didn't have that. They may be trying to make a poilicial point, but it sounds like they did it with some humor (and from their perspective -irony).

On a related note, the GOP announced that they actually has a health care reform bill. It will be financed by tax cuts, and it will cover everyone in America, except illegal aliens. This plan will stop the insurance companies from raising the premiums at will, and doubling the premiums every ten years, like what was going on before Obama became president. How will they do that? Easy, they will give the insurance companies tax cuts. In other words, they will bribe- I mean they will give insurance companies financial incentives not to raise premiums.
