Republicans celebrate April Fools by praising Obama

Republicans are praising President Obama on April Fools Day.

(CNN) - National Republicans praised President Obama Thursday and declared that he has "kept all his promises" and is "truly the greatest president ever."

No, this is not an episode of “The Twilight Zone.” It's an April Fools Day joke from the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

In a new Web video, the GOP organization tasked with regaining control of the Senate this November, cheers Obama for solving global warming "by replacing cars with low-emission unicorns” and achieving an unemployment rate of "negative 39 percent," among other “accomplishments.”

If it wasn’t already clear, the committee quickly said it's only joking:

"Get real,” an announcer abruptly said. “ObamaCare is just the latest in a long list of broken promises by the liberals in Washington. No transparency. A government takeover of health care. And even more jobs threatened by billions in mandatory new health care costs. Promise after promise…broken. Don't be fooled by Obama and the Democrats in Congress."

Low-Emission Unicorns? Republicans might be on to something there. Maybe they should pull their caucus together and see if they can manage to birth one. If they can do that then the nation could have a good reasonable source of transportation as fast a Republicans can reproduce them.

APRIL FOOLS That is them. APRIL FOOLS or just plain FOOLS.

An even better one would have been if they actually proposed some IDEAS. Now THAT would be a joke!

The DNC praised the GOPs role in helping spur economic growth by their using donor money at S&M themed clubs. That is "trickle down economics" at its best.

Hilarious. If there's a shortage of doctors, wouldn't this create a demand for them? If you're in med school, you would think the health care law would be a good thing for creating jobs. The Republican Senate Committee is really just a group of Lucifer's disciples cloaking itself in a blanket of "religion" to fool God-fearing people to vote for them so they can wreak havoc in the world. Haha, I'm only joking. April Fools.

Wow, how incredibly clever. I love how they have to explicitly tell their audience that they're joking.

You just have to laugh sometimes. A little bit of good humored ribbing can help ease tension, and in Washington, those guys need a good laugh.

Republicans are such losers it's almost laughable, did anybody see John Stewart the other night when they did that spoof about Michael Steele it was hysterical, also they showed Sarah Palin and McCain on Fox News she was running her mouth a mile a minute and old man McCain was getting visably irritable, hysterical, somebody said it was more like a roast because she kept saying how old he was.

Just go with the facts. Look at how the people who live in lib cities like Detroit, Washington DC, Chicago ETC have done with Decades of Democrats controlling their lives.

A hundred times more Americans have died in our major cities over the last 40 years thanks to Democrats running the show than in all of the wars over that period combined!

He is the pinnacle of all Presidents to date – according to the sheep out there. That was a great joke. Especally since all of it is true and that particularly scary negative 39% unemployment rate really brings it into focus. He really knows how to LEAD!!

in my opinion Obama is a great president, he has come to change things for the better. However he has not kept all of his primises. In a T.V. interview he mentioned the DREAM act, Mr. Obama said " Something that we can do immediately that I think is very important is to pass the Dream Act, which allows children who through no fault of their own are here but have essentially grown up as Americans, allow them the opportunity for higher education"
Nothing has been done immediately about it. He also promised the hispanic community who voted for him that he would make the immigration reform a top priority the first year. It's been 2 year and the immigration reform it's not even a top priority now. He did not keep THIS promise, but i trust he will fix the broken immigration system, now or later.

This clearly shows that Republicans have zero respect for the President and the office. I think this will back-fire on them come November. You may not like Obama, but he is our President, the one who was voted in office by the majority, and the office deserves a little more respect than the bubble-gum heads from the NRSC.

I'm glad that the Republican lawmakers are taking their job just as seriously as they do any other day. What a childish way of criticizing President Obama's policies and goals. This kind of video is clearly meant only to incite more baseless outrage from the GOP's new core constituency of tea party members and the like. When will we return to thoughtful debate that puts the hard working people of this great country ahead of our petty differences?
