RNC is tripped up by sex hotline

The Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

Atlanta (CNN) - Already under fire for picking up the tab at a Los Angeles nightclub where topless dancers mimic sex acts, the Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

It clearly was a mistake, but it couldn't come at a worse time for the RNC, which has faced a barrage of criticism from social conservatives for the nightclub expense.

“We love nasty talk as much as you do," a woman is heard on the other end of the sex hotline. The woman, whose voice is on a recorded message, also welcomes callers as “sexy guy” and says this is an opportunity for them to talk to "students, housewives and working girls from all over the country."

A Minnesota resident received the mailer that asked recipients a series of questions and urged them to donate a minimum of $25 to help Republicans return to power in Washington. The resident gave it to his congressman, who in turn delivered to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC, the campaign arm for House Democrats, provided a copy of the fundraising letter and a recording of the telephone message to CNN. CNN called the number and it is still active.

RNC spokesman Doug Heye acknowledged that this fundraising letter did go out, but said it was a mistake.

"The number in question was a typographical error by a vendor used on this particular mailer – using 1-800 instead of 202," he said. "As you can see from the attachments, this is an isolated incident and will not be repeated in the future."

Using that sex hotline number will probably get the GOP more votes than they'll lose! Smart move on their part showing their true colors. Better than spit and slurs.

We are used to "nasty talk" from Congressional Republicans but this is too much. You can't make this stuff up.

RNC is clearly on the Family Values fast-track! You guys keep that synergy going right into November!

My bet is this is Sarah Palin's private fund-raising line – very private.

My other bet is Micheal Steal-your-donations has it programmed in his speed dial.

My final bet is that this line received more $$$ from potential RNC donors than the RNC line did.

“We love nasty talk as much as you do,"

At least it was still accurate... a nastier bunch of demogogue liars than the contemporary GOP hasn't existed for nigh on a half century.

The new RNC theme song needs to be "oops, I did it again" by Brittany Spears.

What a bunch of dysfunctional, spoiled sore losers. I'm referring to the April fool’s joke they call themselves playing on the president. (Sex scandal and RNC go hand-in-hand so this is nothing new or surprising). However, our tax money should not be paying these clowns' salary. Please, let’s get rid of the whole lot of them and elect REAL mature people in their places. The joke is actually on them because now you really see how childish they are. I know the president is shaking his head in total disbelief behind this latest stunt. They all need to be sent to their rooms without any dinner.
