New York (CNNMoney.com) – With unemployment still at a severe high, a majority of states have drained their jobless benefit funds, forcing them to borrow billions from the federal government to help out-of-work Americans.
A total of 33 states and the Virgin Islands have depleted their funds and borrowed more than $38.7 billion to provide a safety net, according to a report released Thursday by the National Employment Law Project. Four others are at the brink of insolvency.
Debt-challenged California has borrowed the most, totaling more than $8.4 billion, followed by Michigan and New York, which have loans worth more than $3 billion. Nine other states have borrowed at least $1 billion from the federal government.

Just wait untl the Democrats start talking about passing a Value Added Tax (VAT tax). This is national sales tax of 15% or more-–that you will pay for EVERYTHING. This VAT tax will NOT replace your federal/state income taxes or the state sales taxes---you will just be paying state/federal income taxes and a state sales tax--PLUS the value added tax (VAT).

How are they putting the Stimulus funds that nobody wanted to use? Would this be happenning in these states if they had done as the economists and the administration suggested 15 MONTHS AGO and put their stimulus monies to work towards creating JOBS IN THEIR STATES???
Now they have to BORROW from the feds to keep unemployment benefits going in their states. I could be confused here, but it does'nt make ANY sense to me.

Wait a minute. We created 162,000 jobs last month. The econimy has turned around and we are back in booming times. Look at the stock market. No worries. BHO has proclaimed that everything is good. The States are just causing problems because they don't agree with BHO so they are a bunch of racists.
Guess this is what happens when one party spends 8 full years sweeping a faulty economy under the rug. Eventually the dirt surfaces, no matter how hard you try to hide it.
I will never forgive the GOP for all that happened on their watch. I laugh to think that anyone of those poeople responsible for bringing this country to it's collective knee actually think they deserve to be re-elected.

The overwhelming majority of states wasting taxpayer dollars on frivolous lawsuits against our health care (12 of them) are included on this list of 33 states. Not to mention, Senate Republicans are shamelessly blocking unemployment benefits for these Americans.
Remember voter of America the Republicans Senator and congressman vote no on extending your unemployment benefits. If the Republican can spend money on Iraq and Afghanistan to rebuild but want extend unemployment benefit for needed American something is wrong with this. This story is another reason ObamaCare was a bad idea at a bad time. It is classic mismanagement. It creates no jobs and infact will cause higher unemployment. It costs $1 trillion and it increases the cost of health care insurance for those that have it now.
The economy is already in trouble and yet the Democrats in Congress and the Administration against strong opposition put in place a huge new entitlement program that just makes it worse.
