Palin hails Steele as 'independent outsider'

Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity Wednesday that she supports RNC Chairman Michael Steele.
Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity Wednesday that she supports RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

(CNN) - A week after Sarah Palin asked Republican National Committee officials to remove her name from an invitation that suggested she might attend a series of GOP fundraising events, the former Alaska governor made clear she is a strong supporter of the organization's embattled chairman, Michael Steele.

"I support Michael Steele. I am glad he is the leader of the party, administratively," Palin told Fox News' Sean Hannity Wednesday. "If those within the party are choosing to go a different direction, his term is up in a number of months and they can vote someone else in. But I think he is doing a great job."

The comments come amid speculation Palin is seeking to distance herself from Steele and the RNC after news surfaced the organization expensed a night out a risqué Los Angeles nightclub for donors earlier this year and ran up large bills for luxury hotel stays and private jet travel.

But a Palin adviser told CNN that Palin's request to be removed from the invitation for the events - timed to coincide with this week's Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans - was simply because she never planned on attending the events in the first place. Palin is slated to speak Friday at the SRLC, a gathering of top Republican officials and an early cattle call for potential 2012 presidential candidates.

In her comments Wednesday, the former Republican vice presidential nominee also hailed Steele as an "outsider" who is trying to change the Republican Party.

"The machine is tough I think to penetrate," she said. "I think it's been good to have an independent outsider to create some change in the Republican Party. I support him."

    CNN
will you please refrain from posting everything and anything w/ Palin's name on it.

you're making her more relevant than she really is. she's a cheerleader and businesswoman. that's it.

Only Sarah Palin would think Michael Steele is doing a good job as he is as rogue as she is and the REPUBLICAN PARTY for that matter. They deserve each other.

SArah Palin, like most politicans, is a self-focused, opportunist. Maybe she will become the leader of the RNC, so she'll have another position to resign from...?

Notice Hannity didn't ask her any tough questions? She says Steele is doing a great job but did he ask her what she based her response on? Palin probably doesn't even know what Steele's actual role is? or that he recently spent $18k remodeling his office. Hell...she probably doesn't even know where the RNC offices are located!! LOL

Katie Couric sure stumped her with some tough questions though. LIke..."What Supreme Court cases in recent history do you disagree with?" Failin Palin's response...."ummm...well....dontcha know....ummm...there are many....ummm...welll....."
Or my FAVORITE tough question by Couric. "What materials do you read to stay current on America"......crickets....

I think that Steele should be more worried about association with Palin that the other way around.... after all the idicy she's shown, a connection with the RNC going to a 'risque' nightclub shoudn't hurt her.
Oh yeah, and STOP MENTIONING THIS DUMMY!!!!!!

Why does it seem that Sarah Palin is still in high school and acting more like a cheerleader. As an intellectual on politics or foreign affairs.., she is 'not'. Every time I see her on television and listen to her.., she sounds like a high school student. Or still in high school. The only thing she needs are a pair of pom-poms. Seeing her across from a world leader, scares the hell out of me. You don't know what she is going to say. Although, she did say.., "I can see Russia from my house." Mike in Montana

Please, someone tell me why is anyone listening and paying money to hear this woman speak nonsense? What is wrong with the American people? The woman can't debate anyone, doesn't know anything about world affairs or hardly anything else. Some of the American people and msm are running around after her, as if she was this intelligent and knowledgeable person. The only reason why Palin is still around is Obama. Some folks would rather give up this country to an air head than have a smart person in charge. This really scares the heck out of me. I am really afraid of Palin, she's dumb and dangerous.

Does anyone really care what Palin has to say? Well, I guess the zombies that follow her do but anybody that has reason and education on their side? She claims to be a patriot but that is an insult to real patriots. Men and women that bought this nation into being with their lives are turning in their graves with this woman and her cronies. What a bunch of losers.

palin supports this freeloader because they are cut from the same cloth. both are money /power hungry and think they are above the rules. they deserve to go down together. with losers like palin an steele the republican party will never be more than a greedy, power hungry rich bunch that could not care less what happens to that little middle class voter that is keeping them rolling in the dough. they only need us to keep the donations coming so they can have the rich and famous lifestyles that we the taxpayer have given them. shame on them both!
