Palin hails Steele as 'independent outsider'

Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity Wednesday that she supports RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity Wednesday that she supports RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

(CNN) - A week after Sarah Palin asked Republican National Committee officials to remove her name from an invitation that suggested she might attend a series of GOP fundraising events, the former Alaska governor made clear she is a strong supporter of the organization's embattled chairman, Michael Steele.

"I support Michael Steele. I am glad he is the leader of the party, administratively," Palin told Fox News' Sean Hannity Wednesday. "If those within the party are choosing to go a different direction, his term is up in a number of months and they can vote someone else in. But I think he is doing a great job."

The comments come amid speculation Palin is seeking to distance herself from Steele and the RNC after news surfaced the organization expensed a night out a risqué Los Angeles nightclub for donors earlier this year and ran up large bills for luxury hotel stays and private jet travel.

But a Palin adviser told CNN that Palin's request to be removed from the invitation for the events - timed to coincide with this week's Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans - was simply because she never planned on attending the events in the first place. Palin is slated to speak Friday at the SRLC, a gathering of top Republican officials and an early cattle call for potential 2012 presidential candidates.

In her comments Wednesday, the former Republican vice presidential nominee also hailed Steele as an "outsider" who is trying to change the Republican Party.

"The machine is tough I think to penetrate," she said. "I think it's been good to have an independent outsider to create some change in the Republican Party. I support him."

    You betcha!
More hot air from the Tea Bimbo. Steele is hardly an "independent outsider." If he were, he would not have been cowed into apologizing for saying that Rush Limbaugh is divisive.

Hey Palin, since you're so into quitting, quit trying to be relevant!

Palin is so full of it. For one who claims to not like the press, she certainly picks her friends and foes based on what is happening in the news. This goes back to the election when it was obvious that McCain was going to get his rear end handed to him, Palin started distance herself from the very guy who took her out of obscurity and into the limelight. With friends like her, who needs enemies.

One bafoon endorsing another... no surprise. She keeps making McCain look crazier and crazier for choosing her as running mate, and the fools who support her for office (of ANY kind)... Demented and sad.

Good for you, now go away. Anyone who stands next to Michele Bachmann at any event has no credibility in my eyes. Not to mention the fact that you are a laughing stock for the majority of Americans and for nearly everyone else in the world. Ms. Palin, you are a flash in the pants who has nothing to contribute, will never have anything to contribute, you are an embarrassment to our country, and we would all be better off if you just went home and stayed there. You will soon be forgotten, and in a decade or two, nobody will remember who you are. You will leave nothing behind of any value when you depart this earth. Basically, you are an irrelevant nobody who wants her 15 minutes of fame.

“I am glad he is the leader of the party, administratively”. Administratively? Was that a compliment or an insult?

On another note, I think Palin is helping to change the party as well, in that she is helping to make it obsolete.

I thought Steele was suppose to be a Republican and NOT an independant "outsider."
How can an outsider possibly organize the RNC?
No more money for the RNC till that spend thrif is out! My hard earned money is not going for private jets and champaigne.

I did not think it was possible, but Palin is more stupid than I thought possible. Clowns like Palin, Steele, McCain and the Tea Party trash have turned the Republican Party into a circus. I'm voting for ANY Democrat!

"I am glad he is the leader of the party, administratively," Palin told Fox News....and she is happy to be the ideological leader in their celebration of below-average leadership.

Next thing you know, she'll be calling Steele a "mavrick", especially since McCain has decided to "pull a Palin" on that characterization which he had embraced so readily during their campaign.

I support Steele too. As long as he's leading the GOP, we don't have to worry about them getting back in the White House.

I wish Palin would go hunting with Dick Cheney.
Two cowards who love guns, never served their country and only sought to profit from it....under the prose of patriotism. Traitors!

Of course she would. Palin is a first class racist. If you are not part of her "followers" which would be evangelistic obtuse bigots, and you are not white, you are a threat. Poor Palin...at some point she will have a reality check.

I wonder how big the check is that Sarah is accepting for such kind words. And how much is the GOP boss collecting per speech these days, although at least Steele doesn't need to use his hand as a teleprompter. Steele IS doing a great job, for his enemies......he's the gift that keeps on giving, as is Palin. Still waiting for her to articulate an actual idea beyond all the platitudes about lamestream media and the liberal elite and government bad and Obama is a radical....At least she looks awesome in those heels.

Sending out a mailer with an "adult" site phone number, is far from a "great job" on the part of Steele. It demonstrates a lack of oversight, on the part of the party, of their activities.

Steele has softened up the Grumpy Old Party enough that they will now be happy with Palin as the head of the RNC.
Go for it sista-Sarah. She could collect a pay-check from RNC and Foxed-up News, and still bill outrageously for speaking engagements where she just rambles on spewing out bumper-sticker politics.
And all the old angry white guys will get all lusty and applaude anything shes does. And the right-winger women will delcare that "every one is afraid of her".
Bizzaro world of the GOPers just keeps getting more and more ridiculous.

Maybe the perfect politician-good looking in a wholesome way, photogenic, and a certain super-fluency when it comes to making her point. Actually, that probably is the same profile as many other Republicans-Gov Perry, former Gov Romney, Sen McConnell...oops, there's always the exception!
