Gingrich says Palin 'tremendously important'

(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, still considered among the most influential members of the Republican Party, is touting Sarah Palin's impact on the GOP and her future in the party.

"Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity," Gingrich told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Both Gingrich and Palin were among the event's featured speakers.

"She's attractive, she's articulate, she has energy," Gingrich continued in the interview set to air Sunday on CNN's State of The Union. "Watch the size of her crowds…And I think whether that translates into something bigger later or whether she's just a very significant person for the rest of her life, she is a real player, nobody should underestimate her."

Gingrich also said Palin's prominence in the Republican Party will continue, regardless of whether she decides to mount a presidential bid in 2012.

"I think she has the potential to fill a niche for a very long time, particularly in an age of cable television and talk radio when you can build your particular market and your audience, and they can love you and come to your meetings and do things with you, and she's done, I think the last couple months she's been very impressive," he said.

But, should Palin decide to launch a presidential campaign, would she be a formidable opponent against President Obama?

"Well, if my choice was Sarah Palin or Barack Obama, I'd rather have Sarah Palin," said Gingrich.

Man, no wonder the country is going to he-double hockey sticks in a hand-basket, if 40% of the country believes the BS that she spouts.

She is a shameless person whose actions betray her words, and her words betray her intelligence. But then again, I wouldn't sell my soul to the dev!l just to save some tax money like the right-wing of this country.

Palin talks a lot of Christiani.ty, but it is obvious to anyone with a functioning brain that she and others like her worship the dollar as their g.od.

Newt and Sarah got only 18% each from their own Republican Party! Their own party seems to know how unimportant they are to their Party!
"by their fruit, you will know them!"

Palin is a SUPERSTAR who speaks TRUTH AND HONESTY. Liberals fear her, and for that reason, I like her more and more...

Yay... I knew it... The Republicans are bi-polar. They scream to repeal the Health Care Reform bill... and Romney wins the poll... – Makes as much sense as the rest of their comedy.

The desperation of the GOP,... touting Palin and Bachman as their superstars. Those two are a couple of hollow, clueless, overrated, county politicians,.. who would have trouble holding their own in municipal politics. Bring them on,... i'd love to see Obama chew them up and shred them on the national scene.

Saying that Sarah Palin is articulate is like saying that Tiger Woods is a faithful husband. Nice try and thanks for playing Newt.

Based onNewt [who needs to be NEUTERED] any female that[ he is not married to ]is a challenge for him. His biggest problem is getting his present wife/wifes sick and into a hospital so they have a hard time trying to keep him in line with his latest choice for Hanky Panky. Can you imagine pitiful Palin and naughty Newt trying to outdo one another with their endless Rhetoric and babbling. Newt wouldn't have time to try or his age to handle another tryst. Newt you and John Mccain were ment for each other. Continual yapping without any sense. Go play Bingo after he gets his but kicked out of the Senate.

And for the 60% rest of us she represents stupidity, banality, mediocrity, self promotion, lack of education, and a quitter of her only job beyond the village of Wasilla. Please tell me that the Newt is selling a backhanded dismissal.

Tremendously important? You bet she is - to Democrats! I say, bring her on! The notion of that dumb Caribou Barbie airhead trailer-trash hick being in the Oval Office scared the daylights out of so many sensible voters that she single-handedly deep-sixed any remote chance McCain would have had.
