Obamas share private moment in public eye

Washington (CNN) - On the driveway right outside the White House briefing room, a place where President Barack Obama rarely strolls during public hours, CNN caught a rare and personal exchange between the first couple.

Flanked by Secret Service agents and personal aide Reggie Love, Obama spotted his wife near the West Wing entrance and tried to get her attention. "Hey FLOTUS," he shouted, then added, "I was just looking for you." FLOTUS is the acronym for first lady of the United States.

As CNN photojournalist Bill Alberter videotaped the encounter, the president joked, "Stop it guys, I haven't seen my wife in a while."

The first lady, who seemed poised to deliver an affectionate greeting, was thwarted when the president said, "Let's not do this in front of the cameras."

Instead they held hands and walked together into the West Wing like a married couple that had not seen each other since one of them made a quick jaunt to Prague to sign a new nuclear arms treaty.

This is sweet. We need to hear nice stories like this. The Obamas are trying to keep a little normalcy to their lives even though they are in the giant White House fishbowl.

Who cares? I don't think I saw any articles on Geoge and Laura and you know how much they love each other after many more years of marraige then Obama and FLOTUS share. I'm glad they get their moment but I dont' see how this is news.

First Lady Michelle Obama and President Obama are an American family of values and I'd love to see them embrace in public. Love is in the air when they are together.

Isn't this the kind of marriage that the Repubs are always claiming the high road on (since Clinton anyway). It's really funny. You'll never hear any of them saying what a great husband and family man our President is, which one would think is a great value to them. Oh wait, he's black and a Democrat....hate abounds!

Affection is beautiful when it is sincere. There are so many politicians that only display affection in front of the cameras – especially when they are running for office to give the appearance of a loving couple.
The Obamas are so real and a kiss or caress sends a powerful message that theirs is a committed relationship. Kiss on!

This is definitely a better example that uplifts families in this country than all the family values brandishing Do as I say not as I do crowd (Gingrich, Rudy, Stanford, Ensign, Foley, Larry Craig, David Witter). NO family and inlaw fights, no darame (Palin and son inlaw and brother inlaw). And the important thing is he doesnt push religiosity and family values over our heads and intrude it in our personal lives – we are free to follow the example if we want.
