CNN Radio: The SRLC, 2010 and the GOP

Washington (CNN) – Touted as the first "cattle call" for potential GOP 2012 presidential contenders, the Southern Republican Leadership Conference just wrapped up Sunday. But according to CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser, the GOP gathering may have been "more about the mid-term elections, this year."

We need fiscally conservative Republicans who have the courage to fix our budget, and that means:

    1. Raise the retirement age to 70
    2. No more welfare (everyone must work)
    3. Tax reform (fewer brackets, fewer deductions, higher taxes for everyone, including the richest and the poorest)
    4. No more wars or foreign aid that we cannot afford
    5. No more entitlement programs (stop this gov't healthcare nonsense).
    6. Unemployment compensation for 30 to 50 weeks is reasonable but not 99 weeks, this is silly. We need people to get back to work.

If there is a progam that any politician on either side of the aisle would like to fund, please don't because frankly we cannot afford it.

All I saw was wingnuts crying and whining because they lost in 08.
They have no clue about who will run in 2012. They have no ideas or solutions. They just know that if President Obama is for anything, they are against it, irrationally.

Yep, and I'm sure tin foil hat sales will go down now too – well, until election time at least. Bunch of hate filled nut cases

How is it that these republicans are so concentrated on the elections in 2012 that they offer up nothing by way of helping its' own American citizens .Just look at all the articles that are published about them , not one article states anything about idea's to help turn our country around , instead they are worrying about how to overthrow Obama and the rest of the democrats , something is surley wrong about this picture . You have people who are hell bent on regaining power instead of doing what they were hired to do which is the PEOPLE'S business in Washington......I hope anyone and everyone is paying attention to the people who are paid to do a job !

Perhaps they should have dubbed it "idiots who'll get crushed by Obama in the next election" instead of "cattle call".

Then again, most Republican followers do have the intelligence of cattle so it wasn't totally off.

The 2012 race will require new front runners, for success. No previous candidates will be likely to succeed.
