Americans more optimistic about the economy, says poll

Washington (CNN) - Americans appear slightly more optimistic about the economy than they did at the start of the year, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday morning indicates that 19 percent of the public now says that an economic recovery is underway.

"While that's not a great number, it's significantly higher than the 12 percent who felt that way in January," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

Thirty-four percent of people questioned in the poll says the economy is still in a downturn, but that's dropped five points from the 39 percent who felt that way at the start of the year.

According to the survey, nearly half the public says that a recovery has not started but that conditions have stabilized. The 46 percent who said the economy's stabilized is down three points from January.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted April 9-11, with 1,008 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

Yes, the Democrats are making all the right moves to put the economy on track for a good recovery. And with the Republicans saying no to everything, it's clear they've had no part in it.

Obama has saved America from The Second Great Republican Depression. Obama has halted the Great Republican Debacle to turn America into a Theo-facist Plutocracy.

Obama may go down as one of the best Presidents ever.

President Obama and his administration are on the right track. I think the Republicans should get on board and help them out. Otherwise, we are to believe that the Democrats are solely responsible for cleaning up the Republicans' and George Bush's mess. Which they are.

The next bubble to burst will be the US Dollar. The current value as reported by CNN is around four and one half cents on the dollar. It will not take much inflation to cause the collapse of the dollar from this point and inflation is on the rise now.

You see, not even Republicans enjoy being in a downturn; no matter how they like to blame the Obama administration for our current troubles, it still feels good when those troubles go away.
The only ones who keep on complaining are going to be the ones who are wealthy enough not to care about the downturn anyway. People like Boehner or Gingrich keep on raking in the profits no matter how the rest of us suffer. They don't care, and will keep on trying to throw wrenches into the gears of America to make the other guy look as bad as they do.

Bad news for the Repubs and TEA patsies. The public's perception of the direction of the economy six months out from an election is a critical measure of what happens to incumbents. November minus six months equals May.

I would guess that the record number of people who lost their jobs in the last two months might not agree.

This is just a spin story and part of the planted "good news" effort. Reality is far from what is being reported. Why does CNBC and others say consumer confidence is really bad and you say its good? Maybe this is why CNN has lost its reputation for fair reporting.

This is good news, I encourage all to read the history of recessions. They have a tendency of curing themselves with some government help and also it will show unemployment is the last thing to recover. If FOX news would not be so negative, then all those rednecks who believe everything they hear would be more knowledgeable. I wish I knew who gets polled, their educational level and where they get their info. Civil Ignorance is hurting this country..

The economy is getting better, it is slow but it is growing and Obama said it wasn't going to be fast or easy.......but with this kind of growth every month Obama's support will start going up again in the Polls, with the Canidates the GOP has for President they don't stand a chance against Obama.......
