Obama adviser gets sick at White House

Richard Trumka became ill Friday while at the White House.

(CNN) – As President Obama was trying to tout a healthy economy on Friday, one of his top economic advisers was literally getting sick all over the White House.

Democratic officials confirmed to CNN that AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka developed a stomach bug and vomited at the White House as Obama prepared to kick off a meeting of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board.

Trumka is a member of the key outside group that also includes economic heavyweights like former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker and former Clinton White House official Laura D'Andrea Tyson, which met Friday to discuss the president's push to create jobs and get Congress to pass strong financial reform legislation.

While Trumka's nausea might not be the best metaphor for the president to play up a healthy recovery, AFL-CIO officials downplayed the incident with good nature.

"While President Trumka is sick of big banks fighting Wall Street reform this was in no way related to that," AFL-CIO spokesman Eddie Vale joked to CNN. "He just had a stomach bug and is now resting so he can get ready for his next fight."

The economic board's meeting went forward without Trumka, and Vale said the mishap will have no impact on Obama's efforts to rescue the economy. "We are extremely pleased with the millions of jobs that have been created and saved and look forward to continuing to do even more with the President," he said.

""We are extremely pleased with the millions of jobs that have been created and saved and look forward to continuing to do even more with the President,"

"millions created and saved?" Like the folks who were already employed, but whose jobs were "saved" because their employer got at least $1 in stimulus? Or the census workers perhaps, where the admin. hired a sizeable percentage of the country to count themselves?

If you believe this spin, post your email so I can fill you in on the latest investment opportunities in Nigerian banking. . . .

Why are all these Union bosses in the WHite House ?
Don't they have a Union to run ?
Oops, I forgot, you chased all the companies out of the US and now lost a good portion of your membership and you don't have enough members to support your organization.

Oh my God, and this is news? On a day that Goldman Sachs was charged with fraud for defauding investors. Hank Paulson who used to run Goldman was Treasury Secretary and magically came up with a plan to use TAXPAYER money to bail them out after the criminal activity was exposed. Let's do just real investigative reporting and trace this back to the highest level where it belongs. George W. Bush!!! Seems like he has his mark on all the illegal activities. Remember ENRON?

This pig is nothing but a fat lying thug, but the he fits right in with the chi-town style of politics with Owebama.

How stupid do you have to be to have a thug union boss as an economic advisor. That's like having Jack the Ripper as surgeon general. Unions destroy jobs and hurt the economy. They assure the you will pay more for less. They are the reason that the teacher who can't teach is still in the class room. Just look at what the UAW did for GM.
