White House slams latest 'birther' move

(CNN) - White House aides are scoffing at a move in the Arizona legislature to force President Obama to show his birth certificate to get on the state's ballot in 2012 for his likely re-election battle.

"This is a question that has been answered exhaustively," White House spokesman Bill Burton told CNN. "I can't imagine Arizona voters think their tax dollars are well served by a legislature that is less focused on their lives than in fringe right-wing radio conspiracy theories."

The Arizona House voted Monday by a 31-22 margin to require all presidential candidates to prove they were born in the United States in order to meet the constitutional requirement. The measure still has to be considered by the Arizona state Senate before it can become law.

When the issue first popped up during the 2008 presidential election, the Obama campaign released the then-senator's birth certificate showing that he was born in Hawaii. In December 2008, after Obama was elected, the U.S. Supreme Court turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man claiming Obama was ineligible to serve as president.

Good Lord, what more does the man have to do to prove he was born in the USA?? This is just another move by the nut wings in this country to halt his Presidency. I say move on. There are too many important things to accomplish in this country. He is a citizen, he was born in the USA, he is black, now LIVE WITH IT.

Racial profiling, birther state. What is this Nation coming to when there are racist bigots passing laws!
The shrilla' from wasilla didn't have to show her medical or six college grades! Why don't they ask her to cough those up?

If you believe FactCheck.Org, who has a copy of President Obama's
Birth Certificate proving he is a United States citizen, and
If you believe FactCheck.Org, that John McCain is also a citizen of
    the United States.
Then, you should believe that both are citizens.
So, CNN, you should have the same information, and all you have to
do is show it and put this nonsense to rest.
You either don't have it (your problem) or you choose to keep this c–p
    going.
Not your place to tell the whole truth?
Bet you would be first in line if the could prove non-citizenship, so it
    works both ways.
I like Ed Henry, but this is beneath him. Give the story back to Shannon!

Here's what will happen if this law passes...

    1) President Obama will make his Birth Certificate available, like he did in 2008

    2) The Republican Governor of Hawaii will certify that it's legitimate, like she did in 2008.

    3) The Birthers will claim the Birth Certificate doesn't meet THEIR standard for legitimacy (apparently ignoring the Conservative principle of "State Soverignty"), like they did in 2008

    4) President Obama will defeat the Republican candidate for President, like he did in 2008.....

States rights – first they pass a racial profiling law, now this. Join up with Rick Perry and secede from the Union, then you can elect McCain as your rightful President of whatever you want to call your new country. Why don't you call it "No".

If I am not mistaken, a child's citizenship is based on his/her mother's place of birth. It has been clear that the President's mother was born in the USA. These folk just want to stir up trouble and waste their taxpayers' hard earned monies. It is amazing the dumbing down of too many Americans. More likely, their bigotry is showing. I don't recall the Democrats going on and on when the Supreme Court saw that George Bush took office. Again, what a waste to taxpayers and the ink and/or energies into covering this issue.

What a shame! For those who are against him, it would not matter what he produces, they still would not accept him. This is not about a birth certificate and it has little to do with his policies, but it has much more to do with his color.

PLEASE GOD DELIVER US FROM HATRED, BIGOTRY, AND RACISM!

For that is the root of our current public discourse.
