(CNN) - Less than a week after backing Florida Senate candidate Marco Rubio's bid for office, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney announced another endorsement Thursday.
The former Massachusetts governor is backing nine-term Michigan Rep. Pete Hoekstra in his bid for Michigan's governorship.
"For too long, Michigan has suffered with high unemployment and job loss," Romney said in a statement released by his Free and Strong America PAC. "It is critical that we elect pro-growth conservative leaders who will keep taxes low, cut wasteful spending and create jobs. Pete Hoekstra has the capability and the right policies to get Michigan's economy moving again."
Romney's PAC also announced that he would attend a fundraiser for Hoekstra in Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 28.

That endorsement automatically guarantees that I will not be voting for Hoekstra...too bad I was considering it.
Romney is not a factor. The Reps. need someone who can stand against Obama and they have no one. They have no leadership. Period.
Good thing, now I know who not to vote for.
Well, that statement should be the kiss of death. Tell Hoekstra to start closing his campaign offices. Romney's support is useless.
isn't there a game show out there that needs a host?
I live in Michigan and support Pete. Thanks Mitt. I'm looking forward to replacing our current worthless, do nothing governor, as well the Democratic legislators who last month approved a 4% raise for unionized state workers, at a time of a huge state budget deficit and huge private sector unemployment.
"For too long, Michigan has suffered with high unemployment and job loss," Romney said .
So, Romney, who recently endorsed the credit card scammer Rubio, now backs a 9-term incumbent. A guy who has been in office for all that "long time" while Michigan has suffered all that high unemployment. And he's apparently done nothing to stop that job loss.
What will the tea baggers think of that idea? Why, heck, they'll think it's just fine, since they're all really just Repugnants anyway.
Republicans need to understand something "we the people" we are ready for them in november with these nonsense about government spending meanwhile you can't run your own party with spending how can you guys run a country? It is better for you to think about 2016 rather than 2012. You can't ever take the white house in 2012. thanks.
That's a waste of backing! Pete hasn't got a chance. Pete can't carry Detroit, Flint, Ann Arbor, Cassopolis, Muskegon, Lansing, Yepsilanty, Pontiac..... That is where most of the votes are!
Pete has also done nothing for Michigan, not even his own district, he is just backed by Devos and Van Andel of Amway
It is amazing all these politicians, like Romney, Cheney, Guiliani, come out from under their rocks to endorse some candidate. Do they not get that they are irrevelant and no one cares what they are mumbling? I sincerely hope that the three of them continue this kiss of death to all GOP candidates. We have had enough of the brainless rightwing paranoid lunatics during the Bush years so I hope the GOP just goes out of business and let the Democrats fix everything the GOP broke.
