Cheney reflects on 'f**k' yourself comment

Former Vice President Dick Cheney told Dennis Miller Thursday that telling Sen. Patrick Leahy to ‘f**k’ himself was ‘sort of the best thing I ever did.’
Former Vice President Dick Cheney told Dennis Miller Thursday that telling Sen. Patrick Leahy to ‘f**k’ himself was ‘sort of the best thing I ever did.’

(CNN) – Democrats were gleeful in 2004 when former Vice President Dick Cheney on the Senate floor told a senior lawmaker to "f**k" himself – a gesture, they thought, that was emblematic of Cheney's hard-heartedness.

Six years later, Cheney is looking back on that moment with pride.

"You'd be surprised how many people liked that," Cheney told conservative comedian and radio host Dennis Miller Thursday. "That's sort of the best thing I ever did."

Audio of the comments were posted on the liberal Web site Think Progress.

Cheney aimed the choice words at Sen. Patrick Leahy, now the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in June 2004. Cheney was upset with Leahy's criticism of Iraq contracting deals that the Bush administration had awarded to Halliburton, the company Cheney used to head.

Senate rules prohibit senators from using "unbecoming" language on the Senate floor when the body is in session, but makes no mention of whether the vice president is permitted to make foul remarks.

The funny thing is, his comment wasn't directed so much at Leahy as it was the American people.

This is an an example of a whole life lived and not much learned. His spot as an American citizen really could have been used by someone else.

We are proud of Vice President Cheney and agree with him. As a matter of fact, he should say it to nobama and the rest of the liberal's in DC.

I have no love for Dick Cheney, but why is it that when Joe Biden drops the F-bomb, it's just Joe being Joe, haha. But Cheney needs to die and be tortured in hell.
And the talking heads are all worked over hate speech from the right???

Why is this bag of hot crap still in the news? He doesn't appear to be doing anything other than grow his celebrity among the tools who fall for his b.s.
Does he have a book out or something? Agree or disagree with Al Gore at least he's doing something other than rearing his ugly head to continually stir up the pot of puss he and his jack booted boobs cooked up for us.
Being unapologetic about what he said to Leahy when questioned about his former company raping the American tax payer isn't surprising.
It's all about the loot to these guys and if they need to pretend to be good christians and good right wingers to wrangle in their witless masses so be it.
Anybody who likes this guy is either a soulless thief , a blind follower of all things conservative, or an immediate family member.

It is a disgrace that after so many years holding so many prominent positions including VP, this evil man can reflect on his use of profanity as the best thing that he has ever done. That certainly speaks to the character of the man.

I wonder what he considers to be the second best thing? Shooting his friend?

I know the Republicans are proud of his two most major accomplishments. That speaks to their character.

He is a disgrace as a human being if that's what he believes is his best moment. I won't even go into his political life. What a role model he is (NOT).

That sounds pretty accurate. Although, I am sure that he also takes great pride in the Republican-sanctioned genocide of Iraq.

Don't you have any fear of God Mr. Cheney? For someone who claims to be from the religious right you sure don't seem too religious. You started two wars and killed thousands of Americans and tens of thousands of innocent Afghans and Iraqi's, all to prop up the price of oil for your buddies at Halliburton and the Enron guys you were friends with.

You're scum to most people Dick.

Cheney is the best VP in our history and this remark is his best one-liner while in office because he asked the DemocRATs and liberal elites to "do something" to themselves. He is 10-times better than the current foot-in-mouth idiot who even can't count the number of jobs have been saved or created after spending 1.5 trillions of taxpayers' dollars.
