St. Petersburg, Florida (CNN) – At least three members of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s campaign staff resigned on Thursday shortly after Crist announced he is quitting the Republican Party and running for Senate as an independent.
Crist’s campaign attorney Benjamin Ginsberg, a veteran GOP legal player who advised both Bush-Cheney presidential campaigns and later Mitt Romney’s 2008 campaign, sent Crist his resignation letter moments after Thursday’s announcement.
Communications Director Andrea Saul and Press Secretary Amanda Hennenberg – the campaign’s main conduit to the media – also resigned their positions. Both Republicans moved to Tallahassee from Washington, D.C. to work for Crist’s Senate campaign.
“It has been an honor to work for Gov. Crist, and I wish him all of the best," Saul told CNN.
Saul is a veteran of Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, the Republican National Committee and worked for Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah.
Hennenberg is also a veteran of the McCain campaign and previously served as a communications adviser to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.
like he even had a chance in the first place!,,,America is licking her chopps, come Nov.,GAME OVER FOR ALL DEMS AND R.I.N.O.'S
Gov. Crist, you did not need those repulsive loyalists anyway, they are and always will be traitors to your cause......now, go and beat the corrupt marquito, he does not deserve ANYTHING.....only somebody else cards with good credit on them...
It really is a shame that the Republican party is not big enough to accommodate candidates of all persuasions. Now they will all line up to criticize Crist for supporting the President on the stimulus and blame him for losing the support of the party, once again proving that the "leaders" (and I use that term loosely) of the Repub party care only for themselves and nothing for the country. I don't blame Crist for leaving the party because they left him a long time ago.
You've got my vote and I do vote. Good move leaving all that hate and divisiveness behind you.
wow. so their loyalty was to the repug party and not their boss? he is then, much better off.
Democrat. Obama campaigner. Just made a donation to the Crist campaign. I will not send a cent to Meek. I haven't forgotten the presidential primary. He was buck dancing for the Clinton's and PUMA. He even signed a letter stating that the democratic rules should change. He couldn't stand up during the democratic primary. Well, lets see if those white women will vote for you now. Meek was on the wrong side of history with that Clinton crap and will be on the wrong side this time around.
MEEK is WEAK! MEEK is WEAK!
Independent Charlie all the way. .
surprised they stayed with that long. Don't know how they could stand the smell.
