A federal jury in Tennessee has so far found a 22 year-old man guilty on two of four counts in a case that involved hacking into Sarah Palin's e-mail account.

(CNN) – In their fourth day of deliberations, a federal jury in Tennessee has so far found a 22 year-old man guilty on two of four counts in a case that involved hacking into Sarah Palin's e-mail account nearly two years ago when she was the vice presidential nominee.

The jury has determined David Kernell, 22, is guilty on felony charges of intentionally accessing Palin's e-mail account without authorization and obstructing an FBI investigation, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Meanwhile, the jury acquitted Kernell on a third charge of wire fraud and remains divided over the fourth charge of identity theft.

It's unclear if the district court judge will order the jurors will order the jury to continue their deliberations, according to the News Sentinel.

In a statement on her Facebook page, Palin said she and her family are "thankful that the jury thoroughly and carefully weighed the evidence and issued a just verdict."

"Besides the obvious invasion of privacy and security concerns surrounding this issue, many of us are concerned about the integrity of our country’s political elections. America’s elections depend upon fair competition." she also wrote. "Violating the law, or simply invading someone’s privacy for political gain, has long been repugnant to Americans’ sense of fair play."

Forget the left/right issue. This crook broke into a private personal email account and scattered the private communications across the internet. And the fact that some people here on this comment thread think that "it's ok" because the victim was an unpopular political figure makes me burn even more.

"Crime is bad" except when you don't like the victim. Get a life! Great view of a fair justice system. And yes... even if it was your sweet but unknown mom who had her email hacked instead, I think the perp should go away for a long time!

Looking at Palin's email is the same as looking at what a 6 yr old wrote while coloring. Nothing Palin could say is intelligent enough for anyone to decipher. Do we even know that she used that email account? Seems like she likes writing answers on her hand!

This guy was just doing the FBI's job and making sure Palin wasn't performing more acts of treason. You can't be too careful with these treasonous right wing terrorists.

That's what he gets for hacking her e-mail from home.
I would have done it from a public computer.

Too bad the dimwit didn't get a guilty verdict on all four counts.

Now, the Commies News Network is providing again a forum for the Palin-hating morons to come out of their burrows and graze.

I normally do not wish any unhappiness or trouble on anyone, but in Sarah Palins case I will make an exception. Ever since she came on the scene she has distorted the truth {lied} on so many things like the "death panels" and things that have to do with the president and what he has been trying to accomplish , things that have confused and frightened a lot of people that aren't as quick thinking as she is, and I think it's time someone shook her up a bit. Your turn Sarah.

A nut job, America hating, leftist freakshow freak is convicted of multiple felonies against Sarah Palin and CNN fails to identify this leftist loon's political ideology! Is anyone surprised that CNN has no audience except the tiny sliver of uber, ultra fringe, America hating leftists that it splits with AMessNBC?

Check out the Anchorage Daily News article by Richard Mauer on September 19,2004:
WASILLA–"Sarah Palin never thought of herself as an investigator. Yet there she was, hacking uncomfortably into Randy Ruedrich's computer, looking for evidence that the state Republican Party boss had broken the state ethics law while a member of the Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission."

(Reudrich went on to lose his state job and get fined for doing party business during his state job time and later, as governor, Palin tried unsucessfully to get Reudrich to lose his position as Republican Party chair. Now, ironically, they are friends again!)

20 years for hacking into Miss Quitty Pants email account is way too stiff. Sarah is said to have hacked into an opponents email in 2004, but this has not been fully investigated.

Since she says this man's "misbehavior needs consequences" the same must apply to her. She needs to be held accountable.

Not a Palin fan, but a guilty verdict is correct. If you have a password on any service or account it is private and it reasonable to expect that any violation is illegal.

Wow, I can't believe how little people know.

People like JOey saying, "the punishment deosn't fit the crime..."

There has been no punishment yet, as today was simply a verdict of guilt. He will be punished ("sentencing" is in the future, bright kids) some time in the future. If the kid gets more than 3 years I'll be shocked. This is coming from a defense attorney.

Yes it was wrong but shouldn't ol Paline used something besides her personal account to do state business. If they found him to be a conservative would hey send him to prison or give him a slap on the wrist? Just wondering

Maybe this guy works for someone else and is taking a fall to make it look like Palin is the victim of the crime. Or maybe she has some rather embarassing things in her email that we are never suppose to hear.

I am often saddened by the silly attitude taken by the left in regards to Governor Palin.
Sarah Palin is a highly intelligent very accomplished woman who has been a state governor and been nominated for vice president of the United States. She has written a best selling book an is now a regular contributor on The FOX News channel by far the most watched cable news outlet. If anyone criticizing her on this blog has superior accomplishments I,d like to hear about them. People who use personal insults to demean people they do not agree with are just admitting that they can,t defend their possition any other way.
As for this arrogant young man that broke into her email account a year picking up litter in an orange jump suit would be just about right.

A prank?!?!?!!? Then why did he post some of the information on the net? Including Palin's daughters phone number???? And this "kid" is the son of a prominent Democrat???? If he could've gotten more meat from this so-called "prank", then who knows what would've been made public!!! We all need protection from the hackers, or why put any personal information on your "personal" email address???? I say 30 years of hard labor! But Obama will probably end up sending him to Goldman Sachs

Why would anyone hack her account? She's an idiot. My dog is smarter and less annoying that she is.

By the way, when is the Pimp, Prostitute and their financial backers going to prison for their actions???

Only an idiot would want to hack into a bigger idiot's e-mail account. If that kid had any brains would have gone for a more profitable venture.
