(CNN) – President Obama has a starring role in Sen. Arlen Specter's new television ad.
The new 30-second spot begins airing Tuesday on broadcast and cable outlets across Pennsylvania, Specter campaign manager Christopher Nicholas told CNN.
The ad's footage is borrowed from a joint Obama-Specter event held after former Republican switched parties last year - in part to increase his re-election prospects.
"He came to fight for the working men and women of Pennsylvania," Obama says of Specter in the spot. "And Arlen Specter cast the deciding vote in favor of the Recovery Act that has helped pull us back from the brink," the president notes in a reference to his administration's economic stimulus package.
"I love you," Obama tells the gathered crowd in the footage, "and I love Arlen Specter."
Specter finds himself in an increasingly contentious Democratic primary fight against Rep. Joe Sestak. A recent survey showed that Specter's once formidable lead is shrinking in advance of next week's primary.

Two horrible clowns in the TV ad? I think it is good for a terrible comedian in Chicago. SHAME SHAME for the USA!
Good...Obamas endorsement ought to be the nail in the coffin for this loser.
As a democrat-turned republican-turned democrat, this dude is out for himself! He has already proven that! Please PA, make Specter a spectator! You know, on the outside (of the Senate), looking in? Please?
You go Obozo, give them all the kiss of death!
Sen Specter is another of those life long Pols who have to go. He made a terrible decision to switch parties. He should have retired with dignaty before this dog and pony show in his primary against a real Dem. Even if he wins the primary, he will be toast in the general come this Nov.
Idiot #1 supporting Idiot #2.
Well that ought to about do it. Specter is done!
Mr. President, I love you but I would vote Sestak over Spector any day.
I remember how much George Bush loved him and that's reason enough!
Mass., n.j., vrgnia, hahaha now PA. nice
Good, every candidate O'Bama publicly supports ends up losing. And why would they spotlight a failed economic policy that has put us so deeply into debt? Morons...
what do you expect?
Axelrod ordered his trainee to support their fellow Jew.
Buh-bye Arlen. It seems that everyone the President has campaigned for has gone down in flames. You made the wrong choice.
Isn't an EX-GOPer a Dumbacrat?
Thank you Barrack Obama, Specter is sure to lose now. Vote 100% Republican this November, throw out the Democrat Bums.
That ought to put the final hole in Spectre's boat.
Nice picture of two big LOSERS.
Arlen Specter is what's wrong with this nation and our government. He's the personification of why we need term limits.
Barack shows up and dems lose in VA, PA, and MA. Barack please continue to show up in commercials or in person for the dems. It is amazing how quickly this guy's approval rating has fallen. Even the most democratic people that I associate with are horrified by this socialist.
t thought alot of people should go
to prison;
for iraq war-2
but nothing happens
their all the same (for sell)
it's disgusting
Good luck trusting him Mr. President.
His own supporters sure can't.
So far nobama has been the kiss of death for demorats seeking election. I would stay away from nobama if I was wanting to get reelected.
No hope for Specter. Obama supports him only because of his party change. What does that tell you? Both are losers.
He changed parties to help his re-election bid. it had nothing to do with his core beliefs or the people of PA. Just him keeping his job or trying to.
Arlen hasn't been paying attention to Obama's history of getting people "NOT ELECTED", or "UNELECTED", whatever the proper term is.
Gov in Virginia
Gov in NJ
Senator in MASS
Then there is:
Olympics to Brazil
No Energy agreement in Copenhagen
He can give it away:
Nuke deal w/ Russia
Trillion w/ 400 Mill going to college buddies and their retirement plans
That's about all I have time for right now.
Wrong, tone-deaf, blind move, Mr. President.
Mr. Specter, please hang it up before you humiliate yourself and others around you. You served your country well, but it is high time to step down. I think you realize that.
