Obama blasts oil executives: 'Ridiculous'

(CNN) - President Obama on Friday criticized executives from BP and two other companies for blaming each other for the continuing oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

"I did not appreciate what I considered to be a ridiculous spectacle during the congressional hearings into this matter," the president said after meeting with Cabinet members to discuss the situation. "You had executives of BP and Transocean and Halliburton falling over each other to point the finger of blame at somebody else. The American people could not have been impressed with that display, and I certainly wasn't."

"I understand that there are legal and financial issues involved, and a full investigation will tell us exactly what happened. But it is pretty clear that the system failed, and it failed badly. And for that, there's enough responsibility to go around. And all parties should be willing to accept it," he said.

"It is absolutely essential that going forward, we put in place every necessary safeguard and protection so that a tragedy like this oil spill does not happen again.

"This is a responsibility that all of us share," he said. "The oil companies share it. The manufacturers of this equipment share it. The agencies in the federal government in charge of oversight share that responsibility. I will not tolerate more finger-pointing or irresponsibility."

How dare he speak to his masters in such a way! He had better watch his step or no more campaign contributions for him!

Keep the pressure on them. Sue them all under Federal law and them let them and their insurance companies sort out the degree of culpability.

Oh my God! A grown up in the White House! Let me guess, the President is being caught up in too much government for his comment! GET REAL! Stop hating on the President when he is actually telling the truth! I'm tired of of people trying to turn him into Darth Vader because they disagree with his policies! In some circles, they call him Dark Vader. I call him a smart, practical and engaging man who has shown more leadership than we've seen in the last 10 years! The buddy, buddy system died in 2008! Get Used To it!

Then do something about it Mr. President. If you think their moral compass is going to lead them or something, you are wildly mistaken. You are allowing yourself to be taken for a ride by oil companies, banks, insurance and drug companies and others. Seriously. Is this the change I voted for? I thought this election would be for more than voting against the other guy. What the hell.

Well now, if this isn't a case of the pot/kettle, I never seen one!! The nerve of that one – he who blames Bush for everything from running out of toilet paper to heaven knows what! Nobama has been the biggest blame game player in history!

He wants BP to take responsibility, why does nobamby not take responsibility for the ruination of this country that he is responsible for. The massive increase in debt and deficit happened on his watch because he was in bed with botox pelosi and reid. All the tax and spend policies of this administration pales in light of the tax increases and debt increases he proposes. He said no tax increase on those making 250,000.00 or less now he says that "was" what he "hoped" for but that will change.

What a strange statement from the blamer in chief. It's like the pot calling the kettle black.
Why no stories about holder badmouthing the arizona law and then admitting to congress he has never read the bill?

Of course Mr. President your first criticism will be from the loud mouth under-educated, ill-logical, irrational, vacuous, brain dead, thought deficient, goof ball, wrong thinking right wing mental midgets that said "drill baby, drill" before you won the last election

wait for it, wait for it. We easily will be able to identify these idiots by their criticism of the President. 5, 4, 3, 2 ,1 – and the whining starts.....

Oil companies should be fined on top of having to pay for everything from clean up to lost wages. They should have something in place that they can immediately start taking care of a spill instead of worrying about how much money they won't get in bonuses.

You know what is really ridiculous, is this president, who has never done an honest day's work and has no real experience in anything except Bush bashing, blasting everyone who has. What is even more ridiculous is that the liberal biased media lets him get away with it and hangs on his every word. I watched where Holder said he has not read the Arizona immigration bill, but is blasing it and here we have our stupid president doing the same thing. How about that extra little $150 billion dollars that the Obozocare bill is going to cost us that they forgot to say something about when he was telling us it wasn't going to cost us one dime more. The man is a corrupt liar.
