(CNN) - Rand Paul, the projected winner of the Republican Senate primary in Kentucky, told his supporters: "I have a message from the Tea Party, a message that is loud and clear and does not mince words: We've come to take our government back."
"Washington is horribly broken," Paul said. "I think we stand on a precipice. We are encountering a day of reckoning. And this movement is a message to Washington … that we're unhappy and we want things done differently."

What a joke.
I thought their big message was "anti-goverment." Or are they "taking their goverment back."
Or are they just complaining because its Democrats in office instead of Republicans.
Probably the last one.
Republicans had this country for 8 years and destroyed it.
You don't really think we're going to give it back to you, do you?
Grow up, little boy!
We need more people like Paul and Rubio in gov't. This gov't is destroying the constitution and our rights every day.
Take it back from whom? Congratulations KY you have chosen a person who is for the repeal of the American with Disabilities Act. You all ought to be so proud!
Looney tunes all of you!
The Tea Party is not what the media would have you believe it is. Check it out for yourself. Don't buy the hype.
Bush was bad. But the democrats have been horrible! We're in trouble to an unprecidented degree with our deficit and out of touch spending. We don't want our money taken to fund someone else's healthcare. Get it? We don't want our borders open to every thug the world can produce. Are you listening? We want terrorists treated like terrorists and no mincing words to meet some PC standard. Can you hear me now?
Imagine that. Socialism didn't work in America. As if it has ever worked anywhere. But the Dems thought it made sense to them. Failed, Rejected, and in November voted out of office.
The losing Democrat got more votes than Rand Paul, but somehow this a victory for the Tea Party and Paul. Gotta' love that spin CNN. Paul will need more votes than that to win the General Election in November. 150k+ more Democrats than Republicans voted. In a Primary. In Kentucky. Not good for Paul.
another idiot who wants to take the government back............are the tea baggers a party????????.....republicans voted in kentucky not the peers...hehehehe....mcconnell is right, kentucky gophers will unite, but that is about it.....keep dreaming turtle face////
I have two questions for the "tea people" and their candidates, with reference to their cries of "taking THEIR govt./country back"....first, you people are a MINORITY, not the MAJORITY. I thought this country and it's govt. was establish on the principle that the majority rules???? secondly. where were all of you protesters of govt. spending and govt. controls, from 2000 to 2008???? The fact is, you tea party clowns are just a bunch of racist hypocrites that can't get over the fact that this country has a man of color as president. In no way are any of you part of ANY solution! You're just a group of loud-mouthed, problematic, treasonists!
Harry...Be afraid... BE VERY afraid ! June 8 is coming... Guess what the message will be. KY has spoken, and now Nevada will speak!
The reason Mr. Paul won is that the Obamacrats have NOT listened to the people. There is a groundswell growing that if we want change, we will will elect people who will make the changes we want and need instead of being told what they want to give us.
First you should take America from special interest groups, lobbyist, corporation and above all from aristocracy!. ie from people like you who inherit seats instead of earning them through hard work! Pathetic!!!
We'll see if Mr. Paul gets bogged down like Obama has by the politics in Washington. We'll also see if the teabaggers are as impatient with him if every promise he makes isn't accomplished after his first 18 months in office. I don't even know what his position is on creating jobs, but here's hoping he has a better chance to work on it than they've given Obama.
Oh yes Mr Paul! Everything is going to be different with you. Different until you get to dip your hand in the treasury cookie jar. BTW "Sir" from whom are you taking "your government back FROM?
The tea party nuts in Kentucky were paying so much attention to what Paul said about gun rights and abolishing the federal Department of Education that they didn't even hear the stuff about legalizing pot, gay marriage, removing American military bases all over the world, and removing support for Israel.
The Kentucky Senate race is now a lock for the Democrats. Please tell me, where can a good Democrat send money to boos the primary campaigns of OTHER hopelessly un-electable tea party candidates?
Hopefully, this is just the beginning and that the new candidates won't get bought off by lobbyists or otherwise folded into the corruption of the US Govt by senior politicians too quickly. Clearly, it's going to be an uphill battle, but a very important one. Our country has gone down the toilet because politicians DO NOT work for the good of the American people except by accident or coincidence. Time for CHANGE(!!).
I agree it's about taking back our government, sans the racial and paranoia overtones of the ultra conservative part of the Republican Party backed Tea Party. Rand Paul was successful, more for who his daddy is, than his fringe, Republican backed, tea party politics. Just look how tea party candidates have failed thus far... all defeated except Rand Paul. If he thinks the tea party is the only game in town fed up with corporate America monopolies and Wall Street run amok, with help from our government, he's being very myopic. Already, he's trashing the President with his ultra, right wing paranoia. Stop it, Rand. Stop the paranoia. I get the feeling the racist rantings his father wrote in published papers years ago, are now coming home to roost in his son. Too bad but congratulations anyway. Now let's see if you can put your mouth where your money is and go to Washington and vote for the people, instead of just becoming another obstructionist.
blah blah blah blah
same old promises.
big words, that's all.
Yeah Republicans, just keep putting right wing fringe candidates on the ballot, just keep doing it...
Republicans who call themselves Tea Partiers want the government back- back to the days of big tax cuts and even bigger national debt. Unlike Democrats, Republicans refuse to pay for their spending/tax cuts. They both spend. Republicans just refuse to pay for them.
Republicans want the same playbook from the 1980s: more tax cuts, more military spending, and no attention to the national debt when they were in charge. We had more than 8 trillion dollars of national debt from the last three Republican presidents. Obama inherited a deficit of 1.3 trillion and national debt of over 10 trillion, yet Republicans did not notice the debt until they were out of the power. They want the government back. Let us see how well that plays in 2012 when more of them are incumbents.
Hold on Cowboy. If by taking our government back you mean you're not going to be yet another GOP ditto head, then this will be a change our country welcomes. On the other hand, this Tea Party is huge crap may fly in Kentucky but where I'm from we associate the Tea Party movement with Shara Palin and a group of angry retirees who claim government is too big while on their way to chase their social security checks. That Mr. Paul is huge alright, it's more of the same hypocrisy your party is known for.
So is Rand a real Libertarian and follow their platform or is he just another sell-out to the republican party like his father. no more government recognized marriages for starters. oh and one more thing. Rubio will Fail!
Is it take the government back or the country? Have anyone notice the gop members all say the samething. Hey repub when are u goin to start coming with solutions of ur own and not just throw something together b/c dems has something on the table?
