The DNC outraised the RNC in the month of April.

Washington (CNN) - In the battle for campaign cash, the Democratic National Committee brought in $10.4 million dollars last month, outraising the Republican National Committee by $3.5 million.

A DNC official tells CNN that for the year, the party committee has raised more than $40 million. The DNC also reports $15.1 million cash on hand, with $2.7 million in debt.

The Republican National Committee raised $6.9 million dollars in April. In an e-mail release Friday morning, the RNC also reports that the party committee has $12.4 million cash on hand, an increase of $1.1 million from March, and holds no debt.

"I want to thank the many RNC donors who continue to ensure that the RNC remains on solid financial footing going into the mid-term elections," said RNC Chairman Michael Steele, in the e-mail release. "Because of our donors' generosity, by next month the RNC will have put nearly 100 Victory staffers into the field to aide Republicans on the path to victory. The generosity of Republican donors will continue to play a pivotal role in our victories this fall."

Both DNC and RNC contributions were slightly down from March to April.

According to Federal Election Commission records, musician Will.i.am, a prominent supporter of President Barack Obama, contributed $12,800 last month to the DNC.

Will IAM will be "living" at White House soon like all the celebs who give the big money. The country is crashing, I know this is a big reason why America is important. Money has become the currency of a worthless nation.

gt – well I guess that's up to us, isn't it? Term limits, that is. We hold the power to change it, yet we don't.

The funny thing about all that money is that it's only worth the message it sends if we are willing to believe it. Instead of believing the commercials we get bombarded with, which are filled with half truths and outright lies, how about we seek information on the candidates in our districts through every means available? We then render that money worthless.

Next we need to get corporations out of the halls of congress and the white house (and for wishful thinking, the media). That will be an interesting challenge. Any ideas? Anyone?

I think the DNC should thank the RNC for producing Rand Paul.

Rand is sure to inspire people to send $millions to the DNC.

On a related subject, all you progressive rational thinkers out there pay attention to the posters in support of Rand Paul, like "Ann" (not ann), "Willy Brown", "Basiltaco". Their comments are so psycho, you know that the RNC is paying them to post their nonsense on the Ticker. This is how the RNC spends it's money, hiring mental defectives to spread lies.

Recently someone took to faulting unions and their supporting of Obama. While unions may not be all good and holy they didn't cause any of the crisis's we have today. No, our current problems can be seen as coming from the run away greed, self-indulgence and gross dishonesty of the Special Interests and the select few that the Republicans have stubbornly and self-servingly continued to irresponsibly placate and patronize, their strong supporters. To not see and condemn that is to condone and encourage more of the same. And to think that it will change or not continue to occur when doing nothing, without any government intervention, is not only naïve but also self-delusional. There are costs involved in turning around our current problems and to insuring they don't reoccur and to not want to pay is ludicrous. It may be nice if that weren't true but it simply is.

If Rand had his way some of those sex clubs the Reps seem to like to go to might not let Steele in. Wouldn't that be the height of irony?? Republicans are going DOWN this fall and in 2012! And they can thank their new BFFs . . . the Teabaggers!

Republican donors are most appreciated by the party so they can continue their program where by they take their Young Republicans and Staffers out to the many strip clubs and especially now so they can be prepared to do research at the many Tampa night clubs and strip clubs.

Now the RNC has dedcided to contribute more to the DNC by having Rand Paul campaign for DNC contributions and it's working. Rand Paul has quickly become a Walking, Talking ATM for the DNC. Thanks Mr. Steele.

Of course they do. Where do you liberals with blinders on think MOST of the Wall St, pharmecutical & health care industry, banks, and OIL money goes to? The Democrats.

The biggest problem with the Republicans is they suck at marketing. The Dems have you believing that the big business money is going to the Republicans the last 20 years when it is not.

GOOD for the Democrats! My husband & I both registered Independents donated to the DNC!

President Obama was speaking to a group, and he said, "If you give someone the keys to your car and they run it into the ditch, and they come around again and ask for your keys, wouldn't you say, NO!" (I am paraphrasing) RIGHT!

Thanks to the Republican controlled Congress of January 1995 through January 2007 (when the Dems won a narrow majority), their DE-regulating Wall Street and the Banks led America into a Financial Disaster not seen since the Great Depression, do we really want the GOP back in charge???? NO!

Thanks to a Republican president, George W. Bush & his 8 years in office, we have TWO WARS! We are spending .......... $6 ....BILLION.......A .......MONTH....... fighting against insurgents in Iraq that DID NOT attack us on September 11th! Fighting against the Taliban, who DID NOT attack us on September 11th.

    $ 6........ BILLION........A.........MONTH....... IN WAR EXPENSE!

IN NOvember, America, VOTE NO FOR THE PARTY OF NO!

The majority of Republicans and Independents will be contributing to individual candidates, not the RNC.

Therefore, it does not matter how much the DNC raises compared to the RNC.

Tick tick tick.........only 5 more months until November elections-–and the power/control is taken away from Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the socialist/marxist Democrats.

In your face to all the right wing tea bagging nut jobs that think all democrats are poor and on some kind of assistance, the truth is we are more educated, we make more money , and we will do whatever it takes to keep people like Rand Paul out of the senate.

Amazing how much money you can raise by the combination of extracting "voluntary" union dues and being owned by Wall Street.

Funny with such a popular democrat president and the lap dancing fiasco at the RNC last month, the Republicans did not do so badly.

Couple that with the fact that NRCC did $2 million better than the DCCC. It wasn't a bad fundraising month for Republicans.
