Chair of South Carolina GOP: 'I repudiate this attack'

Karen Floyd, chair of the South Carolina Republican Party, issued the following statement Monday:

“I have been and will remain neutral in the Republican gubernatorial primary, but I am speaking out today because I believe this primary should be decided on issues and ideas, and not on unsubstantiated personal attacks,” Floyd said. “South Carolinians deserve a higher level of political discourse than this, and they frankly deserve a press corps that focuses on real, substantive issues rather than on internet rumor mongering. No candidate deserves to have to defend themselves from these kinds of attacks, and South Carolinians are frankly tired of being fed unfounded gossip. I repudiate this attack, and I will defend the integrity of any of our gubernatorial candidates in the face of personal attacks of this nature.”

I agree. If the blogger is telling the truth, he should state whens/wheres. If he does this, the candidate can reply. And what is "inappropriate physical contact"? And if this is all true, why didn't the accuser come forward early-on?

Unfounded gossip?? Did we forget about the current governor of SC? I know how dirty politics can be, but before you start attacking the left, you may want to look at the GOP. They are known for their good old boy politics and being ruthless to get what they want. This may or may not be true, but because GOP are hypocritical as they try and present themselves as family oriented with high moral values. Whatever you do in the dark will eventually come to light. I hope this is not an attack

Is there a single Republican with any morals? There is a long list of current Republicans in office who have committed adultery, bribed their mistresses with money and jobs, and stil were claiming how moral and "Christian" they are.

Republicans have no morals and nov values. All they care is about is worshipping at the altar of power and greed. Republicans don't care what they have to say or do to get what they want. They are liars, cheaters, and now openly racist.

Do they really think sane Americans are going to vote for a tea bagger candidate who openly states he is a racist and wants to repeal all historic social legislation – from the Civil Rights Act to Medicare?

Republicans are dangerous to the future of America. We must get as many of them out of office as possible. They are ripping our country to shreds and doing NOTHING to help us recover and become progressive and prosperous again. They do not represent America and do no represent the People who elected them. They are ammoral and lie every chance they get. We need honest leadership with people who know the difference between right and wrong and do what is right, Republicans have no concept of anything human or decent.

    Vote our the Republican traitors!

Really, "South Carolinians deserve a higher level of political discourse than this, and they frankly deserve a press corps that focuses on real, substantive issues rather than on internet rumor mongering"... it's the press. Apparently what they don't deserve are honest above board GOP candidates that are beyond reproach. Funny how they turn on each other Karl Rove style and then blame the press. Too late, too close to the election to find the truth, no one will vote for her under cloud of suspection. Hey it worked for GWB several times.
Warning be careful of dripping slime when standing near GOP candidates, it stains!

This Statement of Core Principles, of course, does not apply to any Democrat, past, present, or future. God bless America, yall.

Maybe he can hire Joe Wilson to put out a press release saying: "You lie!" on her behalf. These SC politcians are a joke.

They blasted Clinton. It is the Republicans that run on family values agenda. They want to pretend they are perfect. Hypocrites all of them.

They try to push their beliefs on everyone else when they can't follow it themselves. She isn't even lesbian and her marriage is wrecked. So gay/lesbians getting married does not have anything to do with wrecking someone else's marriage.
