Haley turns to Palin in new television ad

(CNN) - After a South Carolina political blogger claimed Monday to have had an "inappropriate physical relationship" with Republican gubernatorial hopeful Nikki Haley, Haley's campaign went on the warpath, issuing an emphatic denial and enlisting support from political allies to torpedo the accuser's credibility.

"There is nothing there," Haley told reporters after a debate in Greenville Monday night. "I am not going to let this distraction get to me. I know it's been a great story for you guys to have today, but there is no truth to it."

With even rival operatives privately acknowledging that Haley appears to be winning the he-said, she-said public relations battle, her campaign sought to continue that momentum Tuesday with a new ad touting support from Haley's most famous backer - Sarah Palin.

The ad, Haley's second of the campaign, emphasizes Haley's gender in an appeal to the female voters she is targeting in her GOP primary race against three men. The June 8 primary pits Haley against Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, Attorney General Henry McMaster and Rep. Gresham Barrett.

"I am a woman who understands that through the grace of God all things are possible," Haley says in the ad, which uses footage of her and Palin at a campaign rally in Columbia earlier this month.

The ad also conveys Haley's core message: That she is an outsider who will reform South Carolina's political system, which she and her allies claim is dominated by entrenched special interests.

"We need fresh faces, fresh voices, and fresh ideas working for the people of this state, not the power of the legislature," Haley says.

The 30-second spot concludes with Palin calling Haley "a strong pro-family, pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-development, conservative reformer."

The ad is running statewide, according to Haley's campaign.

If Haley is the liar, she's toast and the "Grifter Queen" won't be able to save her.

One has to wonder when this type of situation is going to hit Palin. She has all the earmarks for this. Thinks she is above suspicion and portrays a squeaky clean image.

People who judge others have a tendency to not survive the harsh light of judgement themselves.

kind of sounds like the approach that John Edwards took – "God-Fearing, preposterous claims, family-man, devout Christian, etc. etc!"

"I am not going to let this distraction get to me. There is no truth to it," but I'm not going to sue because I would lose big time and I know it.

I'm sure most of the folks in South Carolina are good and smart people. But it sure doesn't show by the yahoos they keep electing.

These right wing politicians always deny their affairs so it must be true. For some reason the "strong pro-family" part gets lost on republicants.

Tell me again how a conservative blogger coming forward about his alledged affair with the conservative Mrs. Haley is a liberal media conspiracy. The blogger was a huge fan of Nikki Haley so i don't see how this is a liberal plot. If it's not true, than its obviously a conservative who is trying to discredit Nikki Haley before the Republican Primary. Blaming liberals for everything makes for great sound bites, but in this particular case, highlights an extreme lack of analytical thinking on the part of all who believe and repeat this claim.

Haley has envoked God. Makes sense. She was probably "praying" pretty loudly when she was with Mr. Folks.

As for Palin, here is the "joke" Obama screwed up during the campaign in 2008. It is well known in the Midwest, and perhaps other locations, and is alleged to have been stated by a judge at the Illinois State Fair Hog Show. It's meaning is, you are what you are, and all the cover you can find won't change that. "You can put lipstick and a mini skirt on your barn yard sow, and name her Monique, but at the end of the day, she's still just a hog". The use of that little quip is not intended, and never was, to put Palin down as a "hog". It was intended to put her down as a phony. Get it?

Liberal media might as well give up wasting their time on this one. Haley and Palin are both extremely popular, honest figrues. We in South Carolina have the uptmost respect for Haley..

Why is it that these right wingers want to push America into becoming a theocracy? They always invoke God in their political campaign stumping, as if that makes them pure. While public servants should maintain their ethics in conducting their official duties, be it supreme court, congress or local offices, they should check their religious biases at the door when serving all Americans in an official capacity. Just look to the Salem witch trials to see the danger of religion infiltrating governance.

I just don't believe her, especially when she has to mention God in her ad.
As with past politicians who have had affairs, it seems they all have one thing in common. God and family values.

Just seems odd that a long-time (and continued) supporter would say this if it weren't true.  I can see what she has to gain by lying.  What does he have to gain by making this up?  It hurts him as much as her and he's not against her candidacy.

The real question in my mind is, what does he mean by 'inappropriate physical contact?'  Did they just 'make out' a few times or did they do much more?  Makes all the difference to many people and he isn't saying.

Not sure I agree with the assumption that Haley appears to be winning the he-said/she-said battle, particuarly since the political blogger who accused her is set to release emails and correspondence between the two of them that substantiate his allegations.

She's probably pro offshore drilling too.

But, the matter at hand is the allegation. If it's not true, she should sue the guy for slander. I'm always happy to see a strong family value hypocrite take it in the slats, but not by untrue attacks. He's brought it out. He has to prove it and quickly, or admit his lie.
