S.C. blogger reveals texts with top Haley aide

(CNN) – The blogger claiming to have had an affair with South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley has posted a series of text messages between himself and Haley's campaign manager that appear to show the two men colluding about how to handle the forthcoming scandal.

The messages, covering a nine-day period earlier this month before conservative blogger Will Folks went public with his accusation against the Republican hopeful, were posted Wednesday morning on his website, FITSNews.com.

"I'm telling you man, we keep this under wraps and nh is going to win," reads one text message from Haley campaign manager Tim Pearson to Folks on May 15.

Pearson and Folks swap worried messages about different reporters chasing the story, and one exchange suggests there may be a newsworthy photograph of Haley and Folks.

Pearson confirmed to CNN the authenticity of the text messages.

While Pearson and Folks make allusions to the "rumor," there is nothing in the correspondence proving Folks' claim that he had an "inappropriate physical relationship" with Haley in 2007.

But Folks has suggested that he has more text messages and e-mails from Haley proving the supposed affair. He has yet to make that evidence public.

FITSNews.com says the correspondence released Wednesday bolsters Folks' credibility in the ongoing war of words currently consuming South Carolina politics.

In the face of blistering criticism from Haley supporters, Folks has argued that he had been supporting Haley in the governor's race and keeping her campaign "in the loop" about reporters and political rivals looking into the alleged affair.

Folks said on Monday he decided to go public with the claim to "get ahead" of the story to protect his family.

Haley, one of four GOP candidates competing in the June 8 primary, has emphatically denied Folks' allegation and blamed political opponents for the "disgraceful" charge. Haley and her supporters - including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin - have worked overtime to undermine Folks' credibility.

Pearson said the text messages are authentic but said he was only working with Folks to prevent "false rumors" from coming to light.

"This blogger's overactive imagination has gone into overdrive," Pearson said in an e-mail to CNN. "South Carolina politics is full of rumors and innuendo, and of course our campaign did everything in our power to prevent false rumors about Nikki from airing out in the media as they now have.

"Every campaign would have done exactly the same thing," he added. "As always, Nikki is determined to keep this campaign focused on the people and issues that matter."

Well, well, well. Sounds like some pretty conclusive proof of an affair. AND remember, Folks has posted this on his blog. Any decent lawyer would've shut it down in 24 hours if not true.

Why, oh why, did she paint herself in to a corner with a "100% faithful" quote in her own press release??

I wonder when she'll be forced to admit it. Drip, drip drip.....

FOLKS could gain even more "credibility" (and I use that term loosely) if he proves this affair occurred rather than just slowly adding unsubstantiated fodder about potential scandals if e-mails got out.

What a sick society we've become to be focussed more on who can destroy someone than the issues of governing our country. If Folks didn't for some reason want the ALLEDGED affair public how and why would it go public? Why would he keep messages? Does he also collect toenail clippings??

CNN, Will Folks is not the only one Nikki Haley has slept with. She wouldn't know truth if it bit her on her neck. She is a liar. This woman has no place in the Governors Mansion and I am a good ole girl telling you that. Henery McMaster will be our next Govenor.

It's funny how quickly Palin jumped to Haley's defense, when it turns out the rumors of an affair may have actually been accurate. "Keep this thing under wraps" sounds like a coverup of something that actually happened to me, not rumor control.

Oh well, Palin never lets anything like facts get in the way of jumping to the wrong conclusion. Or in this case, picking the wrong candidate.

Now it only goes to prove that Rasmussen poll is so full of it,because no other poll shows the Democrats or Obama losing that badly,Rasmussen is really playing to the conservative base,i hear his poll in the Penn Senate race will come out today showing Tomey leading by 13%,a few days ago he had Tomey losing by 4%,this is ridicoulous, the Democrats needs to call this guy out,his poll will also show Forina leading Boxer by 15% today, now how can that be when Forina is for the ARZ law, this guy is trying to under poll Democrats so badly that other polls will show Democrats losing as well.its funny how Rasmussen stop polling 2 weeks before an election.this guy is doing what Foxnews in the Gop wants him to do,Foxnews in the Gop was caught off guard when Penn-12 went so sodily for the Democrats, after that happened Rasmussen has been under polling Democrats so badly, lastweek Rasmmussen said on Foxnews he dont poll House races, but yesterday he was polling the House race in Idaho i think, what a liar this guy is

"we keep this under wraps and nh is going to win" sure doesn't sound like someone who is trying to tamp down on false allegations; it sounds like someone who is trying to hide anything.

The fact is, the affair appears to be in the past, and I don't think it necessarily has any bearing on the job Haley would do as governor. That said, iif the allegations are true, and she's decided to react by trashing the reputation of her former lover and (in concert with Sarah Palin) blaming her competitors, the media adn the Democrats for her own failings, that speaks volumes about her character (or lack thereof).

She was at the Florence SC County GOP meeting Tuesday night. When asked by a reporter for The State newspaper about the allegations she maintained her ususal comment about staying on the subject of the election. When the reporter advised her that he had talked with Will Folks earlier that day and Folks had shown him the some of the text messages you could literally see a look of apprehension/dread/on **** go across her face. She's guilty, she done for, and she's toast. She's literally just Mark Sanford in a dress...

An affair and Palin standing behind her should dome any chance she might have. She should do what Palin did and just quit.

Mr. Folks; so you had an affair with her, let say she befriended you in good faith or a moment of weakness, are you so nasty that you will want to bring her down at this point. There is a saying. when you are pointing one finger at someone, four are pointing back to you. I hope you don't ever need the help of another human being because clearly you are not human.

Well can Sarah Palin still blame the liberals for this one. I am sure she will try. Or will the conservatives give Viki a pass like they did for Palin.

I guess Sarah Palin is once again having a hard time with pesky old facts that keep popping up. It looks to me that Haley is getting in hotter water every step of the way. Time for someone to drop out, and pick more discreet lovers.

She's toast. Don't politicians who have affairs realize that you can't permanently get rid of e-mails?

What's in the water in South Carolina, anyway?

Even half-term Gov. and full-term idiot Sarah Palin will drop her in the end. (And this is after Palin's supported candidate in Idaho tanked gloriously on Tuesday after he was caught giving parts of President Obama's 2004 speech to the Democratic National Convention word for word.)
