Washington (CNN) - Fresh fundraising numbers might spell trouble for Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. The Democrat raised less money in the last filing period than run-off opponent, Lieutenant Gov. Bill Halter.
Both campaigns released campaign finance reports on Thursday.
For the period between April 29 thru May 19, Lincoln's net contributions totaled $552,289.91. Halter raked in $777,119.94. That means Halter outpaced Lincoln by just over $224,830.
Most of Lincoln's total - nearly $233,000 - came from political committees, such as PACS. Just over $319,000 came from individuals.
In contrast, most of Halter's funds - just over $753,000 - came from individuals, whereas just over $24,000 came from political committees.
While Halter may have won this fundraising cycle, Lincoln has the clear edge in cash on hand – holding just over $1.5 million than Halter. The lieutenant governor entered the race just over 12 weeks ago.
Both candidates are locked in a tight runoff that will culminate in a June 8 vote.
The runoff became necessary after neither Lincoln or Halter cracked the required
50-percent threshold of voter support in the May 18 Democratic primary. The race has been expensive and increasingly bitter.
The winner will face Republican Rep. John Boozman in the November election.
I can't wait until June 8th! Blanche Lincoln has turned her back on the working people of Arkansas and America for the last time.
GO BILL HALTER!
Part of a bigger trend that will continue through November. Interesting that the Democrat was funded by PACs (Political Action Commitee, for those of you who don't know what that is – they are special interests who are going to want favors when/if the candidate they sponsor wins.) Meanwhile, individuals are backing the Republicans. Again, I think this a clear trend, as individual voters have had enough of Obama and his socialist agenda.
Lincoln has got to go. She sounds like a half-baked Republican with her dumb rhetoric. I hope Arkansas is smart enough to vote for Bill Halter. Lincoln just puts her finger to the wind to see what's popular that day of week, then changes her mind.
she did not work for the people, it was all about her.
Looks like Miss Hathaway from The Beverly Hilbillies will be working for Chevron soon!!!!!
As an Arkansas democrat, I am ready to say "Bye Blanche!"
This TX democrat is one of the individuals that sent 50 bucks to Halter.
Let this be a warning to all the "blue dogs" you may be conservative, that is fine, but if you ALWAYS vote with the opposition, YOU become the opposition.
Wonder what position in the administration Obama will offer either one of them to drop out of the race. Oh any it IS A Federal Crime to offer a job to a candidate in return for a political favor, just ask Blagoyovich.
Don't worry, I'm sure the Crook In Chief will offer one of you a job in his administration if you agree to drop out of the race.
Neither of the dems will beat the republican challenger in this race. So, give it up.
This is the clearest primary yet. It really isn't even about ideology. Its about respresenting corporate interests over the people's interest.
Blanche is a Sarah Palin like pig and needs to be made into bacon.
Another sign that she is bought and paid for by the establishment and large interest. His contributions are coming from the people. Maybe that is an indication of how the vote will go. She might have an accent, but she loves Washington, DC.
