How convenient that he would take credit after BP fixed it.

Jindal keeps screaming for a berm.

Won't berms just be washed away every time there is a hurricane? Will we then have to pay for a new berm every time? Like we have to pay to rebuild beaches in Florida where houses should not be built?

Why do we taxpayers keep "restoring" CA (earthquakes and fires), FL (hurricanes), and now LA (oil spills and hurricanes)? Why not ban important housing and businesses in these disaster-prone areas?

there's two distict problems here – the leak and the cleanup. Barry's got no clue on the leak, couldn't fix it if he tried but he could probably get some assistance for BP. The clean up should have been started about 39 days ago. The oil should never have reached the shore. This is a direct failure of the federal government – and as the saying goes the buck stops at the oval office and all he does is dodge it.

May God guide ALL of your efforts Mr. President. I would've preferred that you stayed out of it, however you're charged with taking care of this country of ours, so so be it.

Godspeed and success to you and your team.

Mr. President, PLEASE stay out of areas/issues which you and your cronies know nothing about. Comes to remind me: That's is 99.5% of everything. You have made enough of a mess of things in our once great country.

    Thank you!!!

Well, he's making that case right now. He sure sounds in charge. Has everything turned our perfectly? No. Is he able to explain, in detail, what the federal government has been doing from the first day, yes.

President Obama and the rest of the government are doing an excellent job handling this crisis.

I'm an engineer. I can tell you this is a very difficult, complex problem.

For all you lame critics of the President–if you know how to stop this leak–let's hear them.

Otherwise, shut up and let people smarter than yourselves solve the problem.

that explain why it's screwed up! Obama's in charge!

Let's see....intentional mortgage meltdown caused by dems – government takeover...more control

market meltdow caused by dems – government takeover..more control....

"coincidental," oil disaster..caused by dems....BIG excuse for Obama to swoop in and nationalize oil.

the guy's stealing away all liberties and avenues for growth in this country...and the liberal lemmings are standing there cheering while getting their throats cut....just how stupid are the democrats?

I'm sure there will be people here screaming that the Obama Administration isn't doing enough. I find it funny that approx. a month or two ago, these same people were donating to Rand Paul and screaming about the horrors of Big Government.

Correction, Mother Nature is in charge. As mere humans, we'll be lucky if this "top kill" works.

What a joke. Of course Obama is going to say the government is in charge right after BP implemented the top kill to stop the leak. Where was the administration for the last month? He would rather golf and go on vacation than visit the gulf.

What good does it do to have the US Government, in charge of anything ? Nobody, it seems, knows what they are doing ! They sure as hell do not listen to the people !!!!

Well, well, well, now that things are starting to look up guess who wants to take some credit?

I will remember this in my day to day business. Blame everyone when it looks bad and take credit when it start to look good.

What great leadership from our president!

I think it iis funny that people don't want to blame Obama for the mess in the gulf because he has only been in office for a year and a half. But the same crowd blamed Bush for 9/11 when he had only been in office for 8 months.

Does this mean since government is in charge and BP is working for them that in the end it will all be government's fault. Typically government creates messes better than any organization I know of. How will the blame game go down when they have to clean one up.

It sounds like they want to keep BP as a buffer and scapegoat so that this administrations hands stay clean. Yes pun intended.

You have to be kidding. They crucified Bush for Katrina for not responding despite a clear states rights in regard to sending federal troops. Now this guy, who does not have a clue spins whatever he thinks needs to said, regardless of reality. He is such an empty suit.

Not sure how to reply to this. On the one hand, I want to say "yeah, right!" On the other hand, I want to say "The President wants control of everything!"

Um, then doesn't that mean that everyone who is blaming BP for this terible clean up effort should instead blame Obama? SInce Obama has been blaming BP, shouldn't he start blaming himself?

that's funny because everyone has been criticizing bps response, but I guess that shifts to you now, the facts, we need oil, even your supreme leader says so you can't even argue that.... we do not drill on land because of democrats we drill 1 mile down in the middle of the ocean because of democrats a fact that the left can't argue and is probably very proud of. the whole problem with this spill is location, if it was on land it woulda been a memory already.

In my opinion, the president isn't in charge of anything except seeing that he is not blamed for anything that goes wrong.
Accidents do happen and the BP CEO didn't do a good job when he spoke, but no oil and gas company want s anything like this to happen.
I am sure that BP is working as hard as it can to rectify this situation.
Now is the time for common sense to be used and the whole oil and gas industry is not punished for this mishap.
The president may be calling for alternative energy, which is fine, but somebody needs to tell the truth about how much it will cost and how long it will honestly take to get the mixture of oil, gas, coal, nuclear and all the alternative energy in place and how they propose to do it.
Our own country is not trying to help the situation at all. The EPA just turned down (I guess it is a permit) for a new refinery in Texas. Yes, we must take care of the environment, but keep both feet on the ground at the same time. Right now we do need to drill more and the administration needs to thank the oil and gas industry for the extremely dangerous and hard work that their workers do.
