Beck apologizes for mocking Obama's daughter

Beck said he should not have included Obama's daughter in a political debate.
Beck said he should not have included Obama's daughter in a political debate.

(CNN) – Conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck apologized Friday after appearing to mock President Barack Obama’s 11-year-old daughter on his radio program earlier in the day.

In a statement posted on his website Friday afternoon, Beck said he broke his own rule about “leaving kids out of political debates.”

“In discussing how President Obama uses children to shield himself from criticism, I broke my own rule about leaving kids out of political debates,” said Beck in the statement. “The children of public figures should be left on the sidelines. It was a stupid mistake and I apologize–and as a dad I should have known better.”

Beck’s apology came hours after the radio host and his sidekicks imitated a pretend conversation between the president and Malia, in which Beck has his version of 11-year-old ask a series of questions that included “Daddy…why do you hate black people so much?”

Beck’s routine was prompted by a remark Obama made in his press conference Thursday, in which he said Malia had asked him earlier in the morning of the BP oil spill, "Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?"

"Is that's their - that's the level of their education, that they're coming to - they're coming to daddy and saying 'Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?' Plug the hole!" said Beck of Malia's comments.

The White House has not responded to Beck’s comments.

I fail to see the attraction to Beck, an ex coke-head, alcoholic [ex?] in the media.

The fact that this wacko has children – at least he says he has – is real proof that their is no GOD!

The bile, hatred and just pure slim pouring out of this cretin's mouth is just too much for any reasonably intelligent to be subject to: FOX actually pays him for this!

He won't lose a single viewer over this.

Glenn Beck appeals to a hate-filled demographic that will be with us for at least one more generation. By the time my yet-to-be-born grandchildren can vote, most of these folks will have passed on, and the world will be a better place.

What's taken him so long to acknolwdge making a stupid statement?
Glen Beck is the epitome of what's wrong with America. His Hate Radio show does nothing to help restore "United" to the United States of America.

It must be awful to realize just how much of an idiot you really are. Glen Beck has to be one of the most moronic Nazi loving people outside the History channel. Every other word out of his mouth is SS or Hitler, this guy is worst than any other right wing mouth piece

Glen Beck should apologize for every word he utters – he is nasty, evil, and dedicated to undermining America. But the most frightening aspect of all is that he has procreated! OMG!

    Glenn Beck,
Why do YOU hate Black people so much?
If ignorance IS bliss, as they say, then Glenn must be one of the happiest people on the planet, maybe in the Universe.

As a theoretical "professional," he knew the microphone was on, he knew it was in the skit, he chose the words and said them... Not that it's the end of the world, but he knew what he was doing and did it anyway.

THEN he wants to apologize??? I don't think so!

At least Beck has the courage and integrity to admit mistakes.... unlike the hate merchants in the liberal/progressive camp .

Beck – the foaming at the mouth, hate filled face of the Teabagger/Right Wing Republican Party. You just know that his racist, hate filled followers love it when he or Limbaugh, both of whom have helped lower political discourse into the sewer, attack Obama's wife and kids. They are all, collectively, a bunch of degenerate lowlives.

If you listened to any of what Glenn Beck actually said on that program you would realize how much hatred and ignorance is swirling around inside his otherwise hollow cranium. The man must have a form of Tourette's, where the first thing that pops into his head jumps out of his mouth. There's no internal editing or self-limiting lack of certainty. Beck's putrid remarks about the President's daughter were nothing more than a reflection of his deep-seated hatred of Obama. Nothing is sacred. Nothing is in too poor taste. No comment is too vicious when it comes to ridiculing and attacking the President. Everything is fair-game, even children. Any other "performer" would have been fired by his radio station for the remarks Beck made. But Beck is shielded from consequences by his inexplicable ratings and popularity. The people who worship this man and have made him rich are just as morally corrupt and utterly brainless as he.

Just more proof that Beck seldom thinks before he speaks.

As if we actually needed more proof of this fact.

I fail to see or understand why ANYONE listens to his radio show or watches his TV show. For someone who pretends to be a religious man, he does NOTHING but preach hate. I firmly believe he has lost his mind and this was another example. I would like to think FOX would cancel his program but then again its FOX where Mr. Beck is in good company among his fellow lunatics. HATE FILLED SPEECH, America should be so proud!
Another shameful performance by a man who has clearly gone over the edge.

It is partly understandable that people have differing opinions, sometimes very strong and very different. But, when your opinions and comments are not enough to make your point and you start to attack children as a means of making your point and to demean, what are you? No apology, no matter how heartfelt, can unring that bell. Your mouth is the gateway to the center of your heart and if left open and unguarded will reveal the truth about you. Glenn Beck is revealed as a small minded, divisive and narcissistic man, who chooses to enlarge himself of the debris remaining when attacks those whom he thinks has no defense. Like a child rapist or pedifile, you have proven yourself as less then less. But, more importantly, what does this say about those who follow closely your footsteps.

I am a conservative, and I DO NOT understand why anyone pays any attention to Glenn Beck. He is a know-nothing. On top of that, he is stupid. People like him give the entire conservative mindset a bad name. People like him make it impossible to listen to the ideas of conservatives because he is so stupid and outrageous. Die in a fire, Beck.
