Palin targets NBC over McGinniss interview

Palin is taking aim at NBC for their recent interview of Joe McGinniss.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is taking aim at NBC over the network's interview Tuesday with Joe McGinniss, the journalist who is writing a book about the former Alaska governor and currently renting the home next door to her.

Calling NBC's actions the "most recent illustration of the untrustworthiness of America's mainstream media," Palin criticizes the network on her Facebook page for not including statements she and her husband, Todd, had provided ahead of the segment.

"We were glad to provide a statement and appreciated NBC's promise to run it," Palin wrote in the post Tuesday. "Todd and I both crafted the statement very carefully because our new neighbor has taken to accusing us of 'inciting hatred' – a charge which we obviously take very seriously … But there was just one problem: NBC broke their promise and didn't run our statements after all."

McGinniss, who previously authored a largely-critical portrayal of Palin for the now-defunct Portfolio Magazine, moved into the Wasilla home last month, prompting the Palins to build a 14-foot fence separating the two properties.

In the nine-minute "Today Show" segment, McGinniss defended his decision to rent the home next door, saying it had more to do with the property's low rent than its proximity to the subject of his upcoming book.

"The fact is I would be living in this house if the Palin's lived on the moon. Fifteen hundred bucks a month for a house in Wasilla. I need to be in Wasilla to do my work," he told NBC's Matt Lauer. "I am not observing them at all. I am here to talk to people who have known them for 40 years in Wasilla."

McGinniss also took aim at Palin for recently posting a photograph of him on her Facebook page and suggesting he was spying on her family.

"Sarah hysterically puts up this Facebook page with all sort of ugly innuendo, which frankly is revolting the things she has caused people to say about me," he said. "I think this is probably a lesson for the American people of the power Sarah has to incite hatred and her willingness and readiness to do it."

McGinnis went on to compare Palin's tactics to those of the "Nazi troopers used in the 1930's."

In the statement, Palin claims NBC chose not run, the former vice presidential nominee says McGinniss "certainly has a right to live wherever he wants, but my family also has a right to expect privacy, and hopefully to enjoy peace this summer … the media sensationalizes the recent McGinniss' tactic so the public will tune in to whatever the latest episode is, always with ratings in mind, and that's unfortunate."

Palin also said that NBC provided "a lame excuse" for not airing her statement and promised to do so Wednesday.

UPDATE: A spokeswoman for the Today Show told CNN, "We were unable to run [the statements] this morning due to a timing issue."

This womans incessant whining provides further proof that she is incapable of serving in any real leadership position on a national scale. She's an embarrasment, but the best thing that has happened to the Democrats in a long time.

Liberals hate this woman so much, even when she isn't wrong, you pounce on her. Imagine your reaction if Anne Coulter was writing a book about President Obama and rented the house next to his in Chicago. The excuse he chose that house because of the rent amount is lame, but because he's after someone you all dislike, you're fine with it. That's also lame.

    Sarah, Sarah, Sarah,

For the sake of the Republicans please leave public life, and for the sake of the American people just go away. Go hunt Moose, go see Russia from your front yard, you have no idea how small minded you are!

She makes the accusation that he's spying on her, but never gives info about incidences of spying.

She leaps from that the guy is living next door, to him spying.

Most people who DO spy on other people, don't live anywhere near them.
And if you're writing a book about someone, and when you search for a rental in the town, and find one right next door, well who WOULD'NT pick that one !!!!

This woman, and her husband, are idiots! SERIOUSLY.... this woman is pathetic. While she complains about the media, it is the same media that has made her what she is today. I don't know why she continues to garner the attention she gets? She QUIT as Governor and before that she was the mayor of a small town! I would like to see her real IQ, I can't imagine it is very high, although probably more than "W" (although that doesn't say much)!

Sarah's trying to hide her glass house with a fourteen foot high fence. And yet she keeps throwing stones at others.

It's always someone else's fault that she's an idiot! There is only one class of people more idiotic than her: The ones who pay her $100,000 to speak!

It is the Palin's that are stalking Joe McGinniss.
Todd went over on McGinniss' property, McGinnis has not been on Palin's property.
The Palin's took a photo of McGinniss on HIS deck and posted it on the internet. McGinniss has NOT taken photos of the Palins.
Joe McGinniss should sue Palin for invasion of HIS privacy and also for the death threats that he was been receiving because of Palin telling folks where HE lives.
    Shame on YOU Sarah Palin.

...and another thing..if she is worried the big bad man next door will view her or her kids, curtains would have been cheaper, and not so offensive to the neighborhood...if I lived in that area I would be really concerned about her wall....but then again...she has never demonstrated concern for anyone but herself....

    SHAME ON NBC!!!

Even if you don't like Sarah Palin, put yourself into her shoes,...and you would be very upset if this was happening to you. Someone who dislikes you moves into a house 15ft away to basically stalk you and your family to make a dollar. This guy is a LOOSER!

I am on the side of Palin, on this issue.

Let's face it people, if Palin looked like Janet Reno, she would not get the media coverage. She is an attractive woman and sex sells. You are right, she is not helping the Republican Party. I truly hope the Dems and GOP would get back to the business of serving the people of this country and not themselves. We are a great country and both parties have great ideas, but we cannot stand divided. Neither party has all the answers, so let's take the best of both parties and use those ideas to serve the people. I could care less who live next door to Palin..let's stick to the real issues, jobs, energy, the middle-class, health care...We the people ought to boycott everything to send a message to the government to stop playing games with our lives and our children's lives and get busy solving "real" situations

You know what's funny. Not one self respecting person in this town will talk with him. This guy is no different then the NBC staffer that was trying to buy information from us at the Tailgater right after Sarah was nominated. What I do find even more funny is how much people just hate her. Fortunately for her and us we don't really care.

Talk about hate-filled lying rhetoric, did you hate-filled liberals even listen to the hate that McGinnis was inciting at Palin during the interview? His last hate-filled fiction piece ended up where it belonged, at a bankrupted publication. This is nothing but another attempt by the corrupt Obama lead NBC, MSNBC, networks to discredit Palin with lies and enuendos, and false statements. Isn't it ironic that Obama and his liberals accuse Palin of inciting hatred, but all you have to do to see real hatred is to listen to these people encouraging hatred and racism on anything from Palin to the immigration law in Arizona.
