Palin targets NBC over McGinniss interview

Palin is taking aim at NBC for their recent interview of Joe McGinniss.

(CNN) – Sarah Palin is taking aim at NBC over the network's interview Tuesday with Joe McGinniss, the journalist who is writing a book about the former Alaska governor and currently renting the home next door to her.

Calling NBC's actions the "most recent illustration of the untrustworthiness of America's mainstream media," Palin criticizes the network on her Facebook page for not including statements she and her husband, Todd, had provided ahead of the segment.

"We were glad to provide a statement and appreciated NBC's promise to run it," Palin wrote in the post Tuesday. "Todd and I both crafted the statement very carefully because our new neighbor has taken to accusing us of 'inciting hatred' – a charge which we obviously take very seriously … But there was just one problem: NBC broke their promise and didn't run our statements after all."

McGinniss, who previously authored a largely-critical portrayal of Palin for the now-defunct Portfolio Magazine, moved into the Wasilla home last month, prompting the Palins to build a 14-foot fence separating the two properties.

In the nine-minute "Today Show" segment, McGinniss defended his decision to rent the home next door, saying it had more to do with the property's low rent than its proximity to the subject of his upcoming book.

"The fact is I would be living in this house if the Palin's lived on the moon. Fifteen hundred bucks a month for a house in Wasilla. I need to be in Wasilla to do my work," he told NBC's Matt Lauer. "I am not observing them at all. I am here to talk to people who have known them for 40 years in Wasilla."

McGinniss also took aim at Palin for recently posting a photograph of him on her Facebook page and suggesting he was spying on her family.

"Sarah hysterically puts up this Facebook page with all sort of ugly innuendo, which frankly is revolting the things she has caused people to say about me," he said. "I think this is probably a lesson for the American people of the power Sarah has to incite hatred and her willingness and readiness to do it."

McGinnis went on to compare Palin's tactics to those of the "Nazi troopers used in the 1930's."

In the statement, Palin claims NBC chose not run, the former vice presidential nominee says McGinniss "certainly has a right to live wherever he wants, but my family also has a right to expect privacy, and hopefully to enjoy peace this summer … the media sensationalizes the recent McGinniss' tactic so the public will tune in to whatever the latest episode is, always with ratings in mind, and that's unfortunate."

Palin also said that NBC provided "a lame excuse" for not airing her statement and promised to do so Wednesday.

UPDATE: A spokeswoman for the Today Show told CNN, "We were unable to run [the statements] this morning due to a timing issue."

I love it.......an activist (Andrée McLeod) ran her out of the governorship with ethics complaints, and now a writer (McGinnis) may run her out of Alaska with the truth. And some think she should be President? Incredible! You gotta love those Irish/Scottish folks.

So let me get this straight: Palin takes a photo of McGinnis on HIS OWN PROPERTY and posts it on the web, and then accuses HIM of invasion of privacy? How can anyone defend that? She's stalking and libeling this man. How can ANYONE defend this woman?

I find it interesting that since BP's crazed quest for money over safety caused the oil disaster, Palin, for once isn't all over the media opening her big yap with the drill baby drill chant.

Sarah called NBC's actions the "most recent illustration of the untrustworthiness of America's mainstream media."

I can't help but chuckle at this remark in that she is now working for the one network I quit watching almost two years ago when I realized their news was biased and racist. Yeah, I'm talking about FOX. I will, however, watch Sarah on SNL where I can see the most honest depiction of her.

its funny that Palin continues to fight with the Media, however they're not on any ballot and she can blame the Media until Texas Freeze over its not going to change what comes out of the GOP Mouth. Rand Paul and Palin say's stupid things, then blames the media for saying what they said, by saying they took it out of context, or that's not what they said when they said it! "whatcha talk'n bout Willis"

This is hilarious. She's upset that a news organization wouldn't run "statements" that she and her husband "carefully crafted." How about answering a live question or two? Maybe the news organization didn't want to run a statement and allow her to say exactly what she wanted with no chance to question or challenge or pursue any of it.

Of course we know Sarah P would never do such a thing - she's above having to actually answer an actual question from an actual (i.e. not Fox) journalist.

    What a Nutcase!

This woman simply gets nuttier every single time she embarrases herself in front of the Press. Good thing we didn't have a Looney Tunes like this in Office. We have enough of that right now.

Ever see a fly on dung? Well, that's what media is on Sarah Palin. Think about it... The media is riding this wild horse until it's broke. Trying to make a reality out of fantasy. All you want to do is read, believe, and make stupid remarks. GROW UP!

If ol' Sarah can't take the heat, she should get the heck out of the kitchen. You betcha! (Wink, wink) She opened herself to public scrutiny and seems exhuberent to keep herself in the public eye. But she has such thin skin...a trait not suited for her 'vocation.' Boo-hoo!

it is no more than stalking – if you had a person that you didnt know follow you around and sit in front of your home with binoculars peering into your windows and lurking around outside, they would be arrested and have a restraining order thrown at him

Does she blame the media when she gets gas after a big meal? J H C Sarah, sometimes the media just is what it is and you face the rath of the seeds you plant for yourself. Not that any of this NBC interview is really that big of a freakin' deal. And doesn't she have a contract with one of the major news networks mainstream media channels?

I've no doubt at all the statement was carefully crafted. That's the only kind of statement she's able to make. Yet still she finds a way to blame the mainstream media for her shortcomings. She complains about media coverage if it isn't specifically guided and prompted and set up by her press crew. Yet she can't ever seem to turn away from a microphone, even when she keeps shooting herself in the foot with every word. When is she going to just take responsibility for the things she does and says? And yeah, Sarah, you ARE inciting hatred. That's all you've done for the last 2 years is preach hatred and division. And guess what? A lot of us really don't like that. This is the real world, not Fox "news".

if Palin were not so afraid to allow anyone to ask her any question, she could simply appear on ANY network show and tell her warped side of any issue. But that would mean she would have to know something as when asked about anything of substance, she always comes across as ignorant. Why won't this woman ever appear on any show where her "image" is not controlled. Just go out and talk to the folks, sarah....of course that means they will hear just how dumb you really are...so stay hidden and just take potshots at people on facebook. How high school of you.
