call me cynical, but this latest display just seems to be nothing more than the president's attempt to deflect anger away from him and his administration. robert gibbs may be wrong when he said that the president does not resort to 'method acting'. the president and his administration bungled this matter and it will hurt him short term, but he can do more to insure that it will not be long term.

Yea, well if you knew that you would kick TransOceans ass. It was their rig and I am perplexed as to why 99 percent of the heat is coming down on BP and not them. What went awry? Sure BP was lackluster and indifferent on safety, but the more grossly negligent acts surely rest in transoceans hands.

I don't care what anybody says, but in my opinion, this language demeans both Obama and the office of the Presidency. The only thing it reinforces though is his need to have someone else for everyone to hate and deflect any criticism from himself or his administration. Democrats will pass it off as usual as nothing to worry about but the more Obama talks the less presidential he sounds when he reverts to Chicago street talk.

Once again, it is NOT the Obama Administration's fault. The President can only do so much but I am glad that he is going after somebody's a$$!!!
Unfortunately no matter who's fault it is there is nothing much to do about the animal life lost or the folks whose lives have been forever altered by BP.

That is a very unkind, unamerican way to act particularly coming from our commander who is the one expected to set an example.

OOOOOOO. BP must be shaking in their boots, just like Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, China, Russia, Bolivia, Mexico, Hamas, Hezzbolah, etc.

No one is threatened by Obama. BP will take care of it because it is in their interest to do so, not because of some empty "ass kicking" threat by the fool in the WH.

I think the language our President used "finding whose - to kick" was very unbecoming of the office of the President. may God have mercy on our country.

That's right President Obama don't put up with these idiots who want to pretend your response is the same as that imbecile during Katrina.

You're a great man Mr. President..keep up the great job.

Obama/Biden 2012 and forever after if possible.

That man just can't get past his club-swinging community organizing goon days, can he? He is by far the most divisive man to ever sit in the white house; I think it's because he has so many personal prejudices and is just looking for ways to punish people he doesn't like. Back at you, Prez!

Did I hear a voice emanating from a developing SPINE of is this just more talk Mr President?
I'm HOPING that this president is ready, able and WILLING to bring these people to task for the destruction they have wrought on this Country.

So, Obama "MET WITH EXPERTS". What experts? Rahm? Well, Obama, meeting is just not getting the job done. Where are the booms and skimmers we need in the gulf. That is a government job that is not being done just so you can blame someone else.

Before Obama starts "kicking ass", maybe he should give back the money BP employees gave him in campaign contributions?
Obama doesn't even sound tough when he says it because everyone knows he couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag.

Not to sound like a partisan jerk (I'm an independent), but Obama's statement made me laugh so hard in nearly fell out of my chair. It just reminds me of a chihuahua yelping at a doberman on the other side of a fence: All bark, no bite. His words are just words.

Well...we are waiting...................we are waiting to see whose ass he is going to kick.
Kicking ass isn't going to stop the leak. Perhaps he is getting a front row seat and close up vision of what George W. went through and getting that same helpless feeling that anyone stuck in this scenario gets. Talk is cheap.

Well looking for asses to kick should be in plentiful supply at BP or anywhere else for that matter.. However I would hope that Obama would have evolved to the point where he wouldn't need to kick any ones ass. Believe me the legal and regulatory machinery of the government will be able to dish out plenty of pain for one and all concerned at BP and so should it.

I'm more concerned about doing right to the people and environs of the gulf coast.
