Gibbs defends Obama's language

(CNN) - White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday there have been no second thoughts over President Obama's coarse language directed at oil giant BP earlier in the week.

"No, I have not heard any regrets about the language," Gibbs told reporters in his daily White House briefing.

Obama's eye-brow raising comments came in an interview with NBC earlier in the week when he said he was talking with several experts about the Gulf oil spill so "I know whose ass to kick."

"I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf. A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there, standing in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be," said Obama in defense of his reaction to the crisis. "And I don't sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar; we talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick."

Gibbs also said he was not aware the White House had recieved any complaints about the comments.

The MSM never seems to be satisfied. First they complain because Obama is not upset enough, not emotional about the oil spill. Now they complain because he wants the kick some-one's ass. Make up your minds MSM. Obama is what he is, the man we elected; Cool, calm, pragmatic, cerebral.

The way I see it maybe BP will distract him and keep him from the continued ass kicking his policies and agenda are dishing out on the middle class economy, what's left of it!

Anybody got any job leads for a middle aged white man of European descent, how about some of that EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYMENT FOR THE QUALIFIED?

does this surprise anyone? real news would be if gibbs stood at his podium and actually says that the president's rhetoric is not helping anyone and he should go ahead and set up a meeting with the head of BP. Gibbs is the president's yes man and he would never take a position that paints his boss in a bad light.

Media and Gopers make up your mind, You all don't like to see any success of this President. You people are stupide to ask such Questions, he is handling the situation in a proper way, ask Gov. Boby to cool of a bitt, shouting will not help the situation which him and his party created. They should ask minority house leader and his gang ( GOPERS )should put their swim suite and go down and plug the hole, If they fail to do so than ask minority senate leader and his gopers gang should try and if they fail than all this media start with
Rush and Hannity and all fox comentators all others media who is asking that kind of stupide Questions. Ask American people stay cool and stay away from finger point to score political point...................Good luck

  9. all the news that's fit to omit

Bill Maher told him to show BP the piece under his jacket and Spike Lee and others (Martin of CNN) told him he needed to go "gangsta" on some people and this is the leadership we get?

He is now all angry after 7 WEEKS of nothing and before you rahmtards start, DEMOCRATS have been hammering him as well (Carville, Stewart and many others) so save the "racist teabaggers" garbage before it starts.

He is AGAIN lying here as one news organization had the spill on their nightly discusion panels with Democrats and Republicans on OVER a WEEK before Barry said anything about it.

Remember Barry and family were on vacation, he was campaigning, playing golf, going to concerts....................

So this is his grand idea for cleaning up the spill, swearing at people and talking tough, BUT talk to the CEO of BP, NOOOOOOOOO, that would make too much sense....

Never RAN NOTHING BUT HIS MOUTH, thanks for nothing...

Matt Lauer should show some respect to the offie of the presidency. I was taken aback to to the way he spoke to president Obama as if the president has to answer to him in how he conducts business. Mr President do not take the bait of the media talking heads and do not go down to their level. Continue to use the cultured language we have come to know you to use and do not embrace the lingo the media wants to use for sensationailsm. Please know the media does not speak for us and most of all we THINK for ourselves, not the media. We applaud the breath of fresh air you brought to us with your leadership. Continue to ignore the media.

I guess you would but no mater what anyone says I don't think I have heard a President say any foul language before Obama and Biden. That's what back rooms are for.

Just shows they have ne respect for othe people and during a High School Graduation of all places.

Again garbage in garbage out great leadership.

BP is doing what they have said they would and more without any big time threats.

Obama and his people continue to show the no class they have and anyone thanks he is a leader are dead wrong.

This country is heading nowhere but down thats to Obama and his crowd.

using the language that he used makes little difference to the fact that oil is still flowing into the water...... when that stops happening... the president will be off the hook..... until then.... however... he is still on and looks more and more 'not in control' than he ever has..... not his fault.... but this is how it works....

I think the President of the United States could find a better way of expressing his anger than using crude terminology. Especially a President who is sooooo brilliant!

When Ken Salzar threatened to put the proverbial foot to BP's throat, Obama said there was no need for that kind of language. Obama calls for civility and respectful discourse. We the masses that are under this President's nose must do as he says and not as he does.

Who believe that fake outrage? He had to have a meeting with the "experts" in the field to know whose arse to kick? He cannot figure that out for himself? Talk about stupidity.

When Obama got elected, everyone was talking about how dignity and intellect has been restored to the WH. So our dignified and off the chart intelligent president has to be told when to be outraged, where and at whom. Wow!

I wonder if Obama's kids speak with that kind of vulgarity. So nice to see that dignity and intelligence has been restored to the WH.

Just to let people know what is actually NOT going on on the Gulf Coast. The clean up is a complete joke. Where are all of these so called enviromentalists? Where is Al Gore and his gang? If all of these people care so much about the enviroment they would be down here helping clean up the beaches and fighting to have our shrimpers helping with the clean up. We are being told not to touch the oil, but they have people who obviouslby do not give a hoot about what they are HIRED to do. If you can find anyone on the beach picking up, they move at a snails pace (when they are moving). No one is on the beach today except HIRED kids on 4-wheelers(4 kids per 4wheeler) picking up the barely filled garbage bags of tar balls. They are having more fun playing on the four wheelers. The oil spill disaster is bad enough, but adding insult to injury with the people that have been hired AND BUSSED IN (must be SEUI workers). The GOVERNMENT will not let locals help out. We have shrimpers (that knows these waters) with the boats just sitting idle, waitng to be told what to do (per BP instructions). The management of this mess is just as bad if not worse than the spill itself. Someone please help. People need to know how bad it is being managed.

What? Nobody has ever heard the word ass before?
I don't fault the President. The whole Gulf mess was a disaster waiting to happen. BP had a company draw a plan for disasters like these. Only problem is that it was not concise and it spoke of walrus, seals and otters.
    Really? Really? In the Gulf?????????????????
    Bunch of morons!

It really does not mattervwhat my President says or does, there will be people who criticize him. I imagine he could have left the a.. word out of his conversation, but who hasn't said one or two coarse word? Just because he is the President does not mean that he is not a human being and is disgusted with BP and their shenanigans. He is interested in making the American people whole and that is the bottom line. Get a life all you holy rollers. And I am a 63-year old church-going Christian woman who knows that people have failings and will not beat them up for mem. But so many of you bloggers just hate my President and can not wait for him to breathe so that you can call him on it. Well, I am proud of him and all that he does for this country.

    Kick your own!
Time for the sheep to wake up and realize this was no accident. Please look into the big banks (Goldman Sachs, as usual) that dumped stock before this "accident" happend. Also, look into the Haliburton purchase just before this, too (of Boots & Coots, an oil well control company). Then, of course, our government couldn't pass their carbon tax before mid-terms. It all doesn't add up.

This is the most absurd statement fr a President. It is laughable. How pathetic!!
If it were not for the outrage going on in the media & fr the "talking heads" like James Carville, he would still be golfing, vacationing, campaigning, having lavish dinners, meeting with sports teams, and having crap starts serenading his wife!

He has not spoken to BP's head. Really? He cannot figure that is whose arse he needs to kick? Experts have to tell him who?

How about the deflection blame game of Obama about BP nickel & diming claims. Gov. Jindal asked for 24 burms and help to build to protect the marshs and the estuaries b/4 the oil got there. The Feds took 3 weeks to respond and gave only 6. After the oil already polluted. So who is really nickel and diming the folks,
FEMA should be in charge of the clean up. FEMA is better equipped to go after BP for reimbursement.
    This is ridiculous!
