Washington (CNN) - The United States will contribute $400 million in development aid to the Palestinian territories and work with Israel to loosen its embargo on Gaza, President Barack Obama said Wednesday.
Obama's announcement came after White House talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The money will be used to build housing, schools, water and health care systems in both the Palestinian Authority-controlled West Bank and Gaza, which is ruled by the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas.
Obama called the situation in Gaza "unsustainable," and said the United States would work with its European allies, Egypt and Israel to find a "new conceptual framework" for the Israeli blockade of Gaza.
"We agree Israelis have right to prevent arms from coming into Gaza," Obama said. But he said "new mechanisms" were needed to allow more goods to reach the territory - and he repeated that the long-term solution was a permanent deal creating "a Palestinian state side-by-side with an Israel that is secure."

For those of you who thought you were voting for Obama to end this constant flow of our tax dollars to other countries, does this make you want to vote for him again in 2012? I actually understand why these things are done, but I do remember this as a repetitive part of the argument about why Obama was the man to save America. I'm just saying...
This current blockade is also owned by the U.S. and the EU but it falls to Israel to form the naval screen. You can give ten dollars and four hundred million dollars of aid to Gaza, but to ensure Hamas does not receive one dime of it will be the real challenge. How about creating an international zone for inspections and cargo delivery.

The only aid package Gaza deserves is a sea launched Tomahawk courtesy of the US Navy.
Mr. President, Americans feel that you should not support terrorism. Think about it. I know you are very much aligned with the U.N., but you are the President of the United States.

And just where the heck is he getting $400 million for aid? Oh wait, he is going to put is further in debt to give money that we dont have, genius! How about we fix our own problems here first? I feel bad for them but our financial situation is deteriorating so much that if we dont fix soon we wont be able to help ourselves. If he wants to make a difference he should push China to donate some of the US Dollars in the foreign currency reserves, that way they get money and we dont get any additional debt..... I have seriouse concerns about Obama's state of mind.

this is his contribution to aiding those who want to destroy Israel. Hamas wants to destroy Israel; Obama knows this and yet plans on handing over our tax money to the people who voted Hamas into power.

Good to know my hard earned dollars are going to fund Hamas terrorists. All I have to say is I didn't vote for our winner of a president.
Since this money is being used to rebuild civilian targets that Israel blew up and to provide humanitarian relief to the palestinians in the Warsaw Ghetto 2 it should be subtracted from Isreal's aid that is used to build illegal settlements on stolen land.
This means $400 million of our taxes going to terrorists to buy weapons to use against us.
This aid package should be an outrage to the American people, I'm sure the money will end up financing some terroristic organization who will send someone back over here to take us out. Not only that,but no money should be sent out of the country when we are in the shape we are in, send that money to the coastal communities that are in big trouble because the feds sat on their duffs during the early part of this oil spill and have now killed most of the jobs by declaring a moritorium on drilling. Now we are sending money to terrorist country areas. Put the money in this country for schools and infrastructure instead of helping a bunch of religious zealots. Makes u wonder where the loyalty lies.
