Primary update, 12:13 a.m. ET: California

Washington (CNN) – Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman has won the Republican gubernatorial primary in California, the Associated Press projects. She will face off against state Attorney General Jerry Brown, the Democratic nominee, in November.

GOP gubernatorial primary:
Meg Whitman – 434,546 62.9%
Steve Poizner – 184,773 26.7%

12% of precincts reporting

    The GOP is all going down thanks to their own doing. They wanted to throw the bums out. But their people threw them out. And in November, the GOP will lose many seats. NOW, watch the GOP run to the center kissing Obama's ass. Watch and see. E-mail me back

    Who cares Jerry Brown will defeat Meg Whitman in November....shes clueless and cant govern. Half of the people i know dont like her..... And i just came back from jerry brown election party at the Nokia live in La....and all of us brown supporters are confident Brown will win no doubt. im honored to have met him in person tonight.
