Rep. Bob Etheridge is shown in a video, posted online, getting into a physical confrontation with two young men.

(CNN) – North Carolina Rep. Bob Etheridge reiterated his apology Monday after an online video surfaced showing he was involved in a physical altercation with two young men who approached him on a Washington, DC street and asked the Democrat whether he supported President Barack Obama's agenda.

"The truth is I had a long day, it was the end of the day, almost sunset," he told reporters on Capitol Hill. "But that's not the issue. The issue is I apologize for my actions and the people of North Carolina know me well and I apologize to these young men as well."

Etheridge declined to say whether more words or actions were exchanged beyond those that were shown in the edited video posted anonymously online Monday.

"I've been spat at, pushed on and threatened before and that's no excuse for my not walking on by," Etheridge said while declining to disclose if more words were exchanged. "Just no excuse."

The six-term congressman also said he still does not know who the young men – who identified themselves as students in the video – are.

Here comes the liberal media to the rescue starting to cover for this democrat. If he was a republican you clowns would have burned him at the stake. Hypocrites

So, as long as you apologize afterward for hitting someone, it's okay. This guy's actions don't show him to be egocentric and above being questioned by the plebians.

Etheridge has crushed Republicans consistently in the this district. These kids looked and sounded like the boy scouts. I bet they were assisting the elderly before beign attacked. This is a gift that will keep on giving – I have to laugh.

Just watched the video. Etheridge deserves to be facing assault charges. His actions were TOTALLY uncalled for! "WHO ah you?? Who ah YOU??! " WHO AH you?? Uhm.....you can just call me "Your Honor", Mr. Etheridge, now please sit down and do NOT interrupt this courtroom proceeding again, or I will find you in contempt...."

The problem as I see it here is that we have politicians in office that have been there way too long. That makes them think they can get away with anything. If not on their clout along then they can at least buy their way out. If I got into a fight with someone at my place of business, I would be fired. Let alone voting myself a raise the next year.

He is a democrat so he will get a free pass and the issue will die. If he was a republican the evening news(ABC,NBC,and CBS) would have it as the lead story in front of the oil spill.

Why weren't these two young punks in Sunday school instead of out on the streets harrassing our lawmakers?

You can tell from the comments who the kool-aid-drinking Democrat sympathizers are (including the CNN reporter who titles this article as someone who had a "long day"). Anyone with two eyes and two ears can see that this man deserves to be charged with a crime for laying hands on the young man who asked him a reasonable question with a microphone that was clearly visible.

Right, because those same "news" stations didn't blast the GOP lie machine's "death panels" nonsense all over the airwaves for weeks on end, having bobbleheads debate it like it just might have merit, instead of picking up a copy of the proposed legislation that was available online an dpointing out that nothing in it even remotely suggested such a thing?

Cut it with the conservative persecution complex, you pantwetting crybaby. Your tinfoil-hat-wearing paranoid delusional personality disorders are much cuter when you focus on foreigners, muslims and brown people in general.

@F Walker...you think he was harrassed because someone asked him a question...? How would he have handled the situation if he really was hassessed? Pull out a gun and shot the young men and then say "I was tired and had had a hard day".

If a citizen can't ask a question of an ELECTED official anymore, than forget it...this country wouldn't be worth 2 cents.

N.C. needs to remember this come November!

If this had been a Republican it would have been the ONLY thing being discussed...it is not even visible on the CNN website!!! The Congressman is just another Obama elite with cover from the Left...
Progressives are cancer, November is the Cure! He should resign or be forced out...as it is he will not be re-elected because the people of NC know exactly what type of person he is!!!

The time for term limits is here. Then, maybe politicians will not be so bold as to assault someone and then expect an apology to make it alright. I say vote all incumbents out, regardless of party.

Any democrat who sides with etheridge must really hate michael moore 4 using these tactics. they must hate tmz also. they must disagree with Obama when he says 'get in their face'. i for 1 may not agree with Obama and i thnk tmz is boring, but neither has broken a law by his statement or their tactics. etheridge seems to have done so though. EQUAL TREATMENT 4 ALL!

REALLY??? Anyone who agrees with "the Obama agenda" should be JAILED in your opinion??!!! That would be at least 1/2 the country and you think we should all be JAILED???!!!!!!! Wow. You people are nuts.

He should have never been elected to terms 2,3,4 and 5. It seems the fault should lie with and the apology come from those who elected him in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th time !! The young man should be praised for not punching his lights out when he touched him.

This person is representing us not supposed to be fighting with us. He owes these kids an apology. The Obama agenda is failing and supporters have good reason to be frustrated. I think that we need more moderates to balance out the very liberal policies of the Obama administration.
