(CNN) - A preliminary probe of now-disbanded community organizing group ACORN has found no sign the group or related organizations mishandled the $40 million in federal money they received in recent years, congressional investigators reported Monday.
A review of grants by nine federal agencies, mostly for housing issues, found problems with only one award - and in that case, the separately administered ACORN Housing Corporation quickly provided a missing piece of documentation, the Government Accountability Office reported.
Nearly two dozen members of Congress requested an investigation after a series of complaints against ACORN and its affilliates, including an accounting scandal, several cases of voter registration fraud and the release of edited videotapes made by conservative activists that appeared to implicate ACORN workers in facilitating prostitution.

What happened to ACORN was totally unfair. The Republicans and that little Conservative twit who faked those pimp tapes was underhanded and disgusting, but sadly typical of the mean spirit that seems to be the Republican way. Sadly, an organization that did a lot of good is no more.
Meanwhile, the real criminal, James O'Keefe, wanders free without remorse or shame.
The demorats will always cover for acorn and the unions because they are owned by them.
For those of us who don’t trust Congress, get an independent audit done . . . the American taxpayers deserve nothing less.
If there was any mishandling of federal funds, it was the funds wasted to pay for this investigation. ACORN, one of the few organizations left that advocates for the poor in America, was taken down for purely political reasons. And the reason they took the hit right on the chin was because they don't have the million dollar a day lobbyists on Capitol Hill to run defense for them the way the REAL crooked organizations and business' do.
Now, why not go and make a "probe" into some organizations that have REALLY defrauded the federal govt., like Haliburton or BP?
