(CNN) - Sarah Palin may be going global in her effort to connect with prominent conservatives. The former Republican vice presidential nominee said she has received an invitation to visit London and included in that was an offer to meet former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, she wrote on her Facebook page.
In the Monday posting, she described Thatcher as "one of my political heroines."
"Baroness Thatcher's life and career serve as a blueprint for overcoming the odds and challenging the 'status quo.' She started life as a grocer's daughter from Grantham and rose to become Prime Minister – all by her own merit and hard work. I cherish her example and will always count her as one of my role models. Her friendship with my other political hero, Ronald Reagan, exemplified the Special Relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom," she wrote.
Palin, who did not detail who has extended the invitation to visit, said she hopes to arrange the trip "in the future."
A spokeswoman for Thatcher told CNN her office has not been contacted recently about a possible meeting although the two women's staffs did speak last year. Asked if the former prime minister would want to meet Palin, the spokesman said "she would be very happy...if it is feasible." The spokeswoman said the possible meeting seems to have generated a lot of interest in the U.S.
We're sorry, Brits! Honestly, sending a plague like Sarah Palin to you has nothing to do with the BP Oil Spill. We blame the company - BP - not the British people. The timing of silly Sarah showing up is just coincidental!
I have taught children in the third grade that are smarter than Sarah Palin. Some of them , if not most of them, had a better understanding and appreciation of the environment as well as foreign affairs.
I'm trying to figure out what mountain top Sarah will stand on so she can look out over the ocean to see Great Britian..."Maggie, I can see your house from here...oooops, I really meant to say Igor". And, therein lies Sarah's comprehension of international affairs. Whose kidding whom, why would Thatcher want to meet with this double-digit IQ airhead.
Palin isn't news. This is just the latest in series of grandstand plays by an illiterate backwood idiot who hasn't realized no one cares. The only things more pathetic are the yahoos who think she is relevant. Suckers.
Sarah Palin in 2012?
It appears the Mayan Calendar was correct. End of the World stuff.
Now that she's made this public, I can't wait for her to be asked any question regarding England and watch her show her total ignorance.
Katie: "So, Sarah, do you plan to take your family along this trip?"
Sarah: "Oh, yes, Katie, my family and I are looking forward to this trip. We plan to do a lot of sightseeing while driving over there."
Katie: 'What did you think of Big Ben"
Sarah: "He's such a nice fellow, a true conservative. But most importantly, he is family man who loves Jesus, as I do"
Katie: "What did you learned most about your trip to England?"
Sarah: "How backwards those socialist countries are. I mean, golly, who drives on the wrong side of the street?"
The whole invitation thing sounds suspicious to me, especially since a Thatcher spokesman "told CNN her office has not been contacted recently about a possible meeting." Could Sarah be making this up to generate publicity and possibly get a backdoor invitation to meet Thatcher? Is she that calculating or just delusional?
Thatcher didn't quit halfway through her first term. That is why she actually accomplished what she did... like her or not.
Baroness Thatcher? Looks like someone looked up Wikipedia before writing their little Facebook note...
For all you tea party people who like Palin don't waste anymore of your time trying to get her sorry butt in officei it's never going to happens she's a nut case. wink wink
She may, but why would Thather want to meet a gov. who left office because it was too hard?
Why are we seeing this?
What does Palin pay CNN for this coverage
That's great. I can't wait to hear what this twit says.
I think the "drill baby drill" speeches can be used by Dems during the 2012 election cycle. It would be hilarious to replay her 'overzealous' comments about allowing offshore drilling. They could fade from her speech to the scene on the gulf. All they have to say is "Now would you trust any Republican to make the right choice for Americans?"
She needs to go over there and get her to come out of retirement and get the BP CEO of his butt and get this leak done and over with. I do not know why we fool around with idiots that can drill but do not do the safety features and have inspectors get bribed. He should be shot on TV along with the rest of them
Look for Palin to make a dumb statement about the Revolutionary War. She'll screw up some piece of history that she didn't get right at the community college course.
