Palin hopes to meet Thatcher during possible trip to U.K.

Sarah Palin said she hopes to meet one of her 'political heroines', former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, when she visits London.
Sarah Palin said she hopes to meet one of her 'political heroines', former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, when she visits London.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin may be going global in her effort to connect with prominent conservatives. The former Republican vice presidential nominee said she has received an invitation to visit London and included in that was an offer to meet former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, she wrote on her Facebook page.

In the Monday posting, she described Thatcher as "one of my political heroines."

"Baroness Thatcher's life and career serve as a blueprint for overcoming the odds and challenging the 'status quo.' She started life as a grocer's daughter from Grantham and rose to become Prime Minister – all by her own merit and hard work. I cherish her example and will always count her as one of my role models. Her friendship with my other political hero, Ronald Reagan, exemplified the Special Relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom," she wrote.

Palin, who did not detail who has extended the invitation to visit, said she hopes to arrange the trip "in the future."

A spokeswoman for Thatcher told CNN her office has not been contacted recently about a possible meeting although the two women's staffs did speak last year. Asked if the former prime minister would want to meet Palin, the spokesman said "she would be very happy...if it is feasible." The spokeswoman said the possible meeting seems to have generated a lot of interest in the U.S.

Hey, maybe we can pass a Palin Lend-Lease Act with the Brits– we give them Palin, they give us eight bucks and a couple tuna sandwiches.

Let's see! "Drill Baby Drill!" "I can see Russia from my house!" "Live from New York – it's Sarah the fool from Alaska!" Yes indeed, the British People need to see this clown up close and personal.

This could be a good thing. Maggie will learn what a bunch of idiots we really are and Sarah might get some pointers on how to formulate a sentence.

Go to you tube and see what the British journalists think about Sarah Palin it is not very flattering. I suppose she expects to be greeted in the UK like Obama was sorry I don't think it will happen. She will used Lady Thatcher for a political prop anything to garner attention.

There is no way Thatcher would agree to meet this woman. Even suffering from dementia, she's leaps and bounds smarther than Palin. Palin makes things up, and Rick, when you can't even quote Palin correctly, you're not to bright.

Don't make a fool out of yourself on an international stage. It's ok here in the States because we all know who you really are. Remember not to talk about hockey when you happen to see Thatcher.

This is really pathetic. Margaret Thatcher has Alzheimer's and while there may be moments of lucidity, I doubt seriously that any member of her family or staff would wish an idiot like Palin on her. I seriously doubt that anyone has invited Palin to England. Do they have any right-wingnuts over there who would be so stupid? I'm sure this is just another of Palin's wild imaginings to make herself look credible. I have a news flash for her - ain't gonna happen!

Oh fine, maybe the British will keep her! Oh, no I think they are smarter then that. She would have to get rid of her you bettcha stuff, other wise the brits will not understand her, second thought that would be a good thing. Does she even know where England is? And if Thatcher is her idol, then she should try to get smarter before she meets her.

Palin is a quitter. Why would Thatcher want to meet a quitter. This woman is making America a laughing stock of the world. I have lived in the UK. Believe me, these people want nothing to do with Numskull Palin. She is an embarasment to the USA. I am so ashamed to be an American right now because of Sarah Palin.

Maybe Thatcher will meet with her, considering her deteriorating mental state. After all, I'm sure the old Lady could use a good laugh.

I can't believe this drivel gets a higher spot that the Gulf Disaster in the news.

Remember what the Republicans said when Jesse Jackson took overseas trips and met government officials? Hopefully someone will explain to Palin exactly WHAT she has the power to promise to these countries...............which is nothing.

  21. Mission Statement

    Palin's mission:

    1) get into politics

    2) Become political star

    3) Don't let anyone know she actually can't read.... awe darnit, well almost got there. 2 out of 3 aint bad. Going for a 66% is better than failing all together. At least she tried right?

By the way, the joke is actually not on the lefties but on the neocons who bought her pathetic attempt at a book. Ya betcha ;)

Only in America can a Moron like Sarah Palin become the darling of our dumb media and ride, laughing all the way to the bank, to deposit the millions of dollars made thanks to the stupidity of people dumber than even she is! What a disgrace she is to the Gene Pool!

  24. Expat American

Sarah Palin is bold to travel overseas.

It’s been a couple years since her ‘presidential campaign’ for Vice President and abroad the fervor, the laughter and the disdain for her racial prejudice and her religious bigotry which on behalf of her bigots, she justifies by hiding behind her [con]servative American bastardization of European Christianity has just begun to die down.

The world abroad, or at least beyond the trailer park behind the Dairy Queen laughed at her long and loud as she lost her campaign; and it will laugh at her again.

It appears that Sarah Palin, as mayor of Wasilla, borrowed money to pay public bills. I'm sure she portrays herself as a fiscal conservative, lowering taxes, etc. What she really did was pass the check onto whoever came next. It was the Reagan (and Bush) way.
