Palin hopes to meet Thatcher during possible trip to U.K.

Sarah Palin said she hopes to meet one of her 'political heroines', former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, when she visits London.
Sarah Palin said she hopes to meet one of her 'political heroines', former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, when she visits London.

(CNN) - Sarah Palin may be going global in her effort to connect with prominent conservatives. The former Republican vice presidential nominee said she has received an invitation to visit London and included in that was an offer to meet former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, she wrote on her Facebook page.

In the Monday posting, she described Thatcher as "one of my political heroines."

"Baroness Thatcher's life and career serve as a blueprint for overcoming the odds and challenging the 'status quo.' She started life as a grocer's daughter from Grantham and rose to become Prime Minister – all by her own merit and hard work. I cherish her example and will always count her as one of my role models. Her friendship with my other political hero, Ronald Reagan, exemplified the Special Relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom," she wrote.

Palin, who did not detail who has extended the invitation to visit, said she hopes to arrange the trip "in the future."

A spokeswoman for Thatcher told CNN her office has not been contacted recently about a possible meeting although the two women's staffs did speak last year. Asked if the former prime minister would want to meet Palin, the spokesman said "she would be very happy...if it is feasible." The spokeswoman said the possible meeting seems to have generated a lot of interest in the U.S.

This is just another case of Sarah Palin throwing names out there of intelligible people hoping to make herself seem more intelligible.

Even 10 years ago Thatcher was severely debilitated by alzheimers/senile dementia. She has not appeared in public since. She is probably unable to utter a coherent sentence.

Oh wait, in Palin's case this would be a good thing. They could babble unintelligibally at each other for hours.

Can this woman be any more offensive? Her "people" asked to meet with an ex prime minister (same as her except Thatcher stuck to her job) of Britain. Her facebook page. How infantile of her.
Does this super charged bimbo know that Margaret Thatcher has Alzheimers.
Then again, who the heck is this sorry excuse of a woman to pretent she is interested in the British? Is it because of BP? She does know that BP has nothing to do with the government, right?
Maybe she thinks that this will put her right up there with being able to see Russia from her front porch (except that now the fence probably blocks her view). Gawd, no wonder the world thinks we are a joke as a country when somebody like her makes the news day in and day out for doing absolutely nothing!!!

    Dear Mrs. Palin,

Baroness Thatcher may see you but who made the offer to you. something is missing in the translation.

With all the traveling that you do I am sure that it would not matter who your next door neighbor is. You seem to be out of Alaska more than you are in the state.

Why is this news to be printed and broadcast? Nothing is finalized and some of it might be a tad exaggerated.

Margaret Thatcher is a chemist and a lawyer, now just what could she possibly have in common with Palin, Little Bo Peep or Mary Had a Little Lamb story told by Palin during the Prime Ministers nap time. Palin is an embarrassment to this United States to think she, her husband and kids have anything in common with Thatcher. She's a fool.

I think even a British conservative like Margaret Thatcher will be stunned at just how absolutely and cluelessly stupid Sarah Palin is.

Perhaps Silly Sarah wants to go visit France while she's in Europe since she had such a lovely telephone conversation with the President of France during her vice-presidential campaign. Oh wait, that was just a few radio talking heads fooling with her and she bough it hook line and sinker. Real presidential material there!

Still can't understand CNN's obsession with this quitter. Why does the media keep forcing this woman on us. If she happens to be elected to be our next President in 2012 (Heaven forbid!) then I truly believe that the Mayan's prediction of 2012 being the end will occur. Is there any intelligence left in this country? Our country has fallen behind the rest of the world and yet we keep giving credence to backward ideology. Please stop this nonsense CNN!!
