Obama takes Medvedev to Ray's Hell Burger

Washington (CNN) - There was more evidence Thursday that First Lady Michelle Obama's healthier eating campaign has yet to win over the President.

Mr. Obama treated visiting Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to an all American lunch at Ray's Hell Burger in Arlington, Va.

In the bi-lat spirit, the two Presidents shared an order of fries.

For the "main course," President Obama ate a cheddar cheeseburger, topped with lettuce, tomato and 'bread and butter' pickles. He washed it all down with bottled iced tea.

Mr. Medvedev passed up lettuce and pickles for jalapenos and mushrooms, then tossed back the all American drink, Coca-cola.

A large pool of Russian and American press tagged along on what was an unscheduled lunch stop.

The President apparently enjoys the beef at Ray's. Last year he made another unscheduled lunch stop there with Vice President Biden. He also chowed down on a basic cheddar cheese burger and a side of tater puffs.

President Medvedev is in town for bi-lateral meetings as part of a broad effort to "reset" Russia's relationship with the United States, and to discuss economic concerns.

And after this unhealthy lunch that Michelle would be unhappy about, her husband pulls a 'Kool Filter Kings' cigarette out of it's pack and lights it up.

    What a hypocrite.

That's our president, an all-American president eating and all-American burger. Got any hate to spew neo-con nazi rightwingers?

Excellent: This is great to see two world leaders sharing fries and
    an all american coca cola:
This is good politics and why Obama is a great president.

A burger once in a while seems fine to me, and hosts always want to treat guests to the local food....they can eat healthy at the White House!

Don't you just love our president? Good man, down to earth and a junk food junkie too! God bless him as he tries to repair our image around the world and I hope President Medvedev enjoyed the food. Thanks to President Reagan and his admonishment to 'tear down that wall' which lead to this great scene between two world leaders. I hope that President Obama can "reset" the relationship because we can't go it alone on this planet no matter how great a country we are.

Welcome to the leader of the Russian Federation, and enjoy our American cuisine. It's nice to see our president taking time from the insanity of governing to have a "burger with the boys."

Michelle wants $10B of taxpayer's funds to fight obesity (a problem that should be addressed by parents) and yet her husband eats poorly and can't even quit smoking. Expensive hypocrisy at its best.

As a Registered Dietitian that sounds like a very healthy meal -carbs, protein. vegetables, black tea and trust me the President can have a little sugar here and there. He needs the calories!!

I think Michelle Obama would like the idea that at least he's sharing his fries. Sharing snacky foods is a good way to only eat half the calories.

(And I can't wait for all the naysayers to point out that sharing fries is a subtle way of practicing socialism, haha)

That is how an American President is supposed to represent! Just another lunch break ... it just so happens its in the company of the Russian President. I'm sure that Mr. Medvedev appreciated this gesture and the goodwill it reflects. GREAT job Mr. President!!!
